Doug is the Michael Anthony of guitar players. Very humble, refuses to sling mud at anyone and a complete badass at what he does.
Doug is a Monster guitar player, and such a humble guy.
the first show i saw when i moved to LA in 86’ was Lion and i knew Doug was head and shoulders above other LA guitar players back then
Doug is always so positive about everything and everyone. Just seems like a no-ego dude🤘🏻💪🏻👍
Totally agree. He sounds like a great guy to hang with.
@@LEEFORDJAGG I think about a "Super Group" of Doug, Rudy on Bass, Andy LaRoche on other Lead, and Tommy Aldrich on Drums. Not sure on who would Vox but damn, wouldn't that be an impressive lineup. Throw in One of the Appice Bros😱😱😱 Like a 70's - 90's Mega Group Project. All dudes with zero ego as well🤘🏻
I was told Coverdale is a royal ass. Just what I heard
@Ace Courage he's old and a bit ornery now but he's not a bad dude.
Absolutely! Anyone who can shred with the best and biggest like that, then just be a regular guy and have a beer with a fan is the most legitimate type of rockstar.
Doug always seems like a real humble cat. A real fan of the music he plays, with a positive and upbeat attitude.
This Dead Daisies album is so damn good! If you haven't heard _Holy Ground,_ you are missing out!!
What guitar work, so heavy and original. No filler all killer, to take from Sum41.
I have liked all the prior lineups a lot, and wasn't ready for a change so I've neglected to indulge, I understand the concept of the band and it's brilliant so I'll get over myself and dive in.
@@kevinherd3437 You won't be disappointed, guaranteed!

It’d be REALLY cool if when you guys ask Doug a question... that you let DOUG answer the question.
Just a thought lol
I've met Doug twice and both times was the sweetest dude ever .. extremely underrated .. top 5
is this guy (doug aldridge) ever talking anything negative about anyone??man, he seems so positive and cool and i could only imagine what he´s been through working with all these "rockstars"
you don't talk s*** about people you've worked with when you make your living working with different people. Unless your agenda is to create drama around a certain topic. Like jeremy asked the question looking for a headline.
I was a student of Doug's for about 6 years back in the mid '80s... and he is still the same cool and humble guy. Doug was not the kind of guy that would talk crap about another person behind their back... that was not him. I am glad to see his success... he worked HARD for it! Well deserved!
@@RockBrigadeCommunityForum fuckin 1,000% comment, there.
Good shot, you must be what some folks call an actual "professional" or in equally rare case, a fuckin' gentleman. Coz you're right. That's how you do it, instead of talking shit behind your security+/bodyguards.
Respect.
LOL and as they say, real recognizes real.
Doug is my favorite guitarist of all time. He is MY Whitesnake guitarist. I'm 54, so I graduated in 1985 and was around for the Slide it in thru Slip of the Tongue years and then came back for the Bad to the Bone and Forevermore albums years later. Doug's writing with David really is some of the best songs under the Whitesnake banner. The best WS band I think was Forevermore.
Holy Diver was a pivotal album for me growing up. It's classic. When Dio did a live version with Doug on guitar I loved it so much more than tbe original.
Little Dio, that giant voice. On stage. Live. It's an amazing memory I still remember being awed by such a small dude with a voice bigger than thunder! I wish I went to more Rainbow concerts and post- Ozzy Sabbath concerts. I think Glenn Hughes is probably the most capable singer but Dio is right up there. I won't argue with anyone much when they tell me they like Dio best, because I totally get that!!
absolutely hilarious !! these guys cant even play anything the same except the rhythmn parts if that
What a nice guy. Always comes over as a proper person, easy to be on tour with. No need to tell everyone how good he is. Impressive.
Doug Aldrich is one of my all time favorite guitar players. He’s so damn talented and so down to earth!!
And a hot guy!!
DA is massively talented & seems very down to Earth, like a regular guy. He reminds me a lot of Jon5 in that way - a guy that's seen & done a lot but very personable & real. The kind of guys that you could hang out w/and have a beer & a lot of laughs. That's not too common in the industry.
Doug is an awesome guitar player one of the best!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 N a great down to earth guy.......
this guy is a shredder. i love his work. And he sounds like a very cool guy.
Doug comes from that generation that in order to survive in the business, you have to be humble in order to work with those legends. He’s knows what buttons to push and more importantly what NOT to push.
What a impressively humble and open guy Doug is. You can tell he just doesn’t seem to have any ugly in him. Nice interview! Keep on rocking!
Love Glenn, and this band's excellent music and performance. REally tremendous
Doug the Gentleman Interview
🤘😎🤘 🎶 Great Guitarist‼️ 🎸
John Sykes is "the" Whitesnake guitar player
Doug is a professional. He knows that he could be working with these dudes sometimes in the future. He does not burn bridges... SMART
Much respect to Doug, he's the greatest since Gary Moore. Let's not forget John Sykes though. Wish you all the best, Doug 👍👍
I totally agree!
Blackmore Micheal schenker Gary moore rik emmit ronnie montrose hendrix evh satrianni
Doug Aldridge. Such a class act! Id love to hear a colab with Doug and Michael Sweet!
Doug your a lucky man, working with 3 of the greatest vocalist of all time
I like hearing Doug's interviews almost as much as I like hearing his guitar playing!
don't listen to a lot of Glam Metal, but I still love those Lion albums from the 80's....... Doug + Kal Swan was amazing partnership
Doug left is ego at home and is such a soulful person ✌️🤘🇦🇺
Funny, my highschool guitar players in Whitesnake were Moody / Marsden. And I remember Mel Galley joining. That was before John Sykes hit big time.
Yeah, me, too. We’re OLD, Sven! 🤘🏼😆
Micky Moody used to do a charity pub gig once a month at the the Red Lion in Isleworth west london with Papa George. Free to get in and donations put into a pint beer jug. Believe me they are both brilliant Acoustic Guitarist’s
What an awesome 🎸player he is!
DOUG HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF THE ALL AROUND NICE GUYS IN ROCK
AND A PLEASURE TO SHOOT THE SHHH WITH !!!
reb beach is a monster.... I love WINGER, his solo album and Whitesnake
Glenn Hughes on Medusa (Trapeze) was making a statement to me. Coast To Coast performances live in concert... Glenn Hughes has to have the edge, but Ronnie James Dio was some kind of Jedi Mind Trick. This little guy with GODZILLA ROCK OPERA voice. First time I saw Rainbow, I couldn't convince my ears that my eyes weren't lying. All 3 great singers on your resume?! That's amazing. Really amazing.
Ronnie James Dio was some kind of Jedi Mind Trick. This little guy with GODZILLA ROCK OPERA voice. Yes.
Doug is that influence that makes me wanna jam with anyone I can. He just WORKS so much! 🙌🏻
Been a fan every since I saw Doug's band Lion and their video for powerlove. I knew he was a monster on guitar back then. Great musician and guy! Saw him a few times live with Dio and he never disappointed.
Best interview I have heard in a LONG time !!! The part about Blackie Lawless tossing meat into the audience was hilarious LMAO !!!
Appreciate the fact that you leave your comments section open instead of closed. What's the point if we fans can't?🤘🎸
Met Doug, down to Earth guy. Great player as well.
Doug and DC Dream Team in Rock Business 🤘♥️
Yeah, Doug Aldridge was always there guitar player for Whitesnake. I remember having that live DVD from England or wherever is from the Hammerstein Unfuck in believable.
If people only knew how much influence Ritchie Blackmore has on rock over the years You don’t work with him unless you are top shelf
And the best player I heard and seen in the 70 s thru the 80s
Glenn Hughes has always been the ultimate musician. His vocal range is beyond belief. I thinks it’s time to
listen to some TRAPEZE!!!!!!!
I was at q Gig in Adelaide Australia where Glenn played for 200 people. That was criminal. He was unbelievable on bass and singing.
Awesome interview legends ❤🎸💯🤘💯
Glad to hear Glenn is a great guy. He's amazing.
Glenn’s soul is 💯% GENUINE ✌️
So glad Doug broke through after years of paying dues with Lion. He kills it no matter who he plays with. Total class act refused to badmouth anyone
Dug(pun intended) the black H-S-S strat Doug shred'd with Dio.
Just one of the most likeable guys in metal. That opening riff to Can You Hear the Wind Blow has to be one of my favourite of all times.
Oh and you played on The Crimson Idol. It wasn't The Headless Cross (that was Black Sabbath) or the Headless Children, which is the WASP album you were thinking of.
Doug is one of the very talented and very lucky to have played with the three greatest singers in rock history! this is very rare and for very few people. Congratulations Doug you are amazing. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤘🏼👊🏼🤘🏼👊🏼
Love John Sykes personally but all the guitarist for Whitesnake are awesome
He is my whitesnake guitar hero
MET HIM ONCE. INCREDIBLE VIBE✌
I watched this when it aired but love this guy had to watch again
The Wasp album Doug was thinking of is The Headless Children, but he actually played on The Crimson Idol. The Headless Cross is Sabbath. Come on, man!
Doug is a badass!!! Love the album with Ronnie. They made a good team. I always thought Doug made a better fit with Ronnie. Doug had the perfect sound and was the perfect guitar player for Ronnie I thought. I didn’t really think Doug’s playing fit in well with white snake. I grew up with Bernie in Whitesnake. Then Mel on SLide which is my favorite album. The USA version that is. Dude I saw in 1987 Adrain and Vivian in whitesnake blew me away . Just unreal. I wish I could go back and not be so wasted so I could remember better lol…
Love killing the 🐉 dragon! Dougs solo on scream is badass & actually reminds me of Vivian Campbells solo in the song the last in line.
Doug is a great ! player . But he never really made an album with Dio . Most all the songs were written by Dio and Craig Goldie on Killing the Dragon . He actually came in at the last min , and was playing Craig's gear on stage first few shows , to save the tour when Craig couldn't do it .
@@SJ-ty5rw seen the tour with Doug definitely best player with dio since Vivian
Doug played great on the DVD special , and I always loved Vivian Campbell in DIO also. And Craig Goldie. Thank you Doug
In my mind there have really only been 3 Whitesnake guitarists: Bernie Marsden, John Sykes and Doug Aldrich. Those 3 guys embody the WS sound imho 🔥🔥🔥
Sykes is my most beloved❤
@@MrIgorek13 SAME
Micky Moody is White snake blood and guts.
Knew Doug back in1985 we were kids he was humble then !!! We used to call him a rail monster
I like what he said about leaving interpretation open to the listener! Since I gave my life to Jesus Christ my musical tastes seemed to change. I just don't listen to secular stuff much anymore. Mostly because of lyrical content. HOWEVER, lol, I had heard about the Dead Daisies years ago but never listened. Point being, I just got done with Holy Ground and I LOVE it! As a Christian I can interpret the lyrics as wonderful things. No profanity. No negativity. No hate. Positive and even triumphant lyrics! Keep it up! You have a new fan!
Forevermore is the pits. The real Whitesnake is Coverdale, Marsden, Moody, Murray, Paice and Lord.
he 's 58 ? time passin ! very good guitarist !
i still miss him to play with whitesnake
3 awesome singers 🤘👍👏
loved his bad moon rising and burning rain stuff also lion of course super amazing dude
Doug’s a legend.
There's one famous lead singer that I feel Doug would be the perfect fit, Ozzy Band!!
I just can't see anyone else who could fit the band better, keeping that same Randy Rhoads style and looking but adding Doug's own signature. What a dream!!
Doug fit well with Ronnie James Dio......so it wouldn't be a stretch to think he could shred with Ozzy's Band. I wouldn't want to subject Doug to Sharon tho. He's too nice of a guy to have to deal with that Witch🤢
Doug all the tributes that you did for Ronnie Montrose who was my friend he was my favorite guitar player he was a great guy and. All the times you did those tributes you are such a good human being you really are and of course a fantastic guitar player
Very cool.
Mick Moody and Bernie Mardsen are Whitesnake. When it was bad ass blues rock
100%
cool guy. amazing player
Doug is the Man great player and human
Doug and I have a lot in common. We both play guitar. We have the same birthday. We both like Les Pauls. The main difference is, he’s good at guitar…🙂
Pretty funny, but I’m sure you’re better than you give yourself credit for, Pete. It’s all about he love of playing! Keep rockin’, bud!
Being a drummer, my bucket list jam guy!!
For me it's Micky Moody and Bernie Marsden.
Wonderful Man, guitarist DOUG💋We can listen him with so différents vocalists👍🏿💁
My favorite album of Doug's is Killing The Dragon, Dio. Fantastic production and amazing guitar work. Probably his best in my opinion.
Thanks!
All awesome singers ! And Doug is a fantastic guitar player
Jeremy’s Coverdale impression is damn good! But yeah Doug is a class act ❤
Jeremy Axl Rose 🤘. Another great video mate 👏👏👏
My holy trinity of Rock singers...
Gillian, Dio and Cloverdale.
Doug hardly ever uses his pinky finger, think of that next time you hear him play!
He is very unique and highly underrated but the fact he played with some of the best bands, shows they recognised his talent.
And he had that bad ass cool to boot!!!
I always wished i looked as cool as him, the hair, clothes and that black gibby!
What is that outro song from this video?
Sounds cool!
Traci Guns, the only guy to have his name stamped on 2 bands :D
what is he talking about? Coverdales voice has been done for years
I Think He Means A Different Voice Than You? 😉
But was one of the best, his tone was untouchable!!
Doug Rules man!
DIO 🤘😎🤘
When my band toured the Midwest back in 1992 (Lazarus - Demon Doll Records) Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice came to see our band and came back to our hotel room to party after our show. Ronnie had returned to Black Sabbath at the time. Ronnie was the most gracious, down to earth, genuine rock star I ever had the pleasure to meet. Me, our singer and Ronnie sat on the dresser and smoked enough pot to make Cheech & Chong proud! 🤣 Vinny was too busy trying to get with one of the many exotic dancers we had befriended earlier. They weren’t hearing it. 😅
Ronnie was just the greatest, in so many ways! How the hell do you sing so well for so long when you smoke that much weed? It makes him even more amazing!!
I’ve shook hands with all 3
Whitesnake wasn't even known til John Sykes put them on the map permanently with the 87 album nothing else exists before or even after 87
oh boys ... let the man talk
Who is the other guy.
And all three owe their start to the great Blackmore.
Dio was active since 1958
And Hughes had Trapeze
Boys... no one is questioning the history or talents of Dio and Huges. Just saying Blackmore exposed them to the world.
@@thetruthhurts6652 Trapeze was touring in the States some tomes by that point .
Say a larger scale .
But if in the live performances john lord say " From Trapeze , Glenn Hughes ".
It have a reason
@@Nissardpertugiu I know they had some success and maybe we’re on the verge of being big but in my life time I never heard anything from them on the radio, never met anyone who considered them a favourite band and in fact never met anyone who had one of their albums who was not a deep purple fan first. Same goes with Elf. I’m sure they were somewhat known as they were on the radar and got recruited by Blackmore.
youre all up their playing John Sykes stuff who made Whitesnake the big name that it is...
I was at the WASP show Doug was referring to in 82 and it was really incredible, wasn't really what I was into but WASP took out a full page ad in BAM a local music paper, the ad was just four head shots of the band and I had to go see that. Bitch opened for them, Blackie put on a great show, they had balls. Blackies' were hangin out of his cod-piece for the whole show and there were more zits on Chris and Blackies ass's than all the kids in the crowd combined. Great show.
Those were the good Ole day, the Whiskey The Starwood, The Country Club, Gazzaris, Palomino club. Sunset strip hanging out. What a great time to be alive
Seen him with dio and whitesnake
For me the best version of Whitesnake was Bernie and Micky on guitars.
Definitely..till the day I die.
Did Doug play guitar in the band "LION" ?
They had a great vocalist too, think his name is Cal Swan
Yes, Doug played in Lion back in the late '80s, and before that, he was in a band called Mansfield - of which the bass player, Jerry Best, went with Doug to form Lion.
Doug was also in Bad Moon Rising, with Kal Swan, after Lion.
Doug also played on the hurricane album slave to the thrill he replaced Robert sarzo on guitar Kelly Hansen of foreigner was hurricanes vocalist for them underated band
@@patrickarrington738a brilliant player
Yes, Doug Aldrich was a member of the band Lion. Kal Swan was the vocalist.
Member changes??? the key to all of them was DEEP PURPLE from there, it was between Rainbow and Whitesnake and I'm not even counting the last incarnation of Rainbow because of the musicians didn't seem up to par with the older line ups with the exception of Ronnie Romero but for the most member changes....YNGWIE J MALMSTEEN so many I lost count.
Love Coverdale but gotta be tough to work for
Glenn would have to be the most difficult. But Doug probably won’t admit it. Considering that they’re working together at the moment.
wow total omission of the real whitesnake sound= john sykes!! how much have people lifted from him even coverdale took his vocals =hilarious guys
Surprised he chose Coverdale after what he did to Sykes. He'd do the same to Doug without blinking an eye.
