If you are rebelling against the Holy See in favor of some popular public figure because he espouses political beliefs you agree with, then you are a protestant and you have already departed from the Church. Sedevacantists and radtrads who deny the authority of this pope, the magesterium and the V2 ecumenical council are going to get excommunicated and sanctioned, which was a long time coming and honestly should've happened a long time ago. No one can bind another humans conscience to do that which is evil. Why don’t people know this? For example, if I tell my children to rob a bank and say: oh, I’m your mother, you’re bound to honor me so go rob that bank! It doesn’t work that way. Yes, I’m still their mother but I cannot bind their conscience to do something evil just because I am their mother and fulfill that role otherwise. We would not leave them alone and unprotected both physically and mentally right at the moment they are in natural decline. How do you simultaneously restrict bishops and reduce the power of the pope? Isn't the synod on synodality making the Chair of Saint Peter irrelevant? Doesn't that empower the bishops who are descendants of the other apostles?

You would think that at face value, but that is pretty much exactly the opposite of what is going on. The only bishops getting their power limited are simple bishops, not the pope. The synod is all about the process, not the outcome. The process hides raw papal power-moves disguised as the wishes and desires of the laity (carefully chosen by Francis' cronies to advance his agenda). If you know how the Concilium wrote the new Mass then you have an idea of how this will go. Bugnini wanted to radically redesign the Mass and knew none of the bishops or the pope would go for it, so he played both ends against the middle and did his best to keep each party from speaking to the other. So he would lie to the Concilium that the pope wanted this, and then lie to the pope that the Concilium wanted that, meanwhile his hand picked laymen and Protestants were very busy in the backroom. He got what he wanted and we've been stuck with it ever since. It's the same thing with the synod, only it'll ultimately fail.

The main problem we have here is that Rome is, currently, in the course of negotiations with the Eastern Orthodox Churches, with a view to moving towards closer union. In principle, it is only possible for a Decree of Excommunication to be made by the Church if it remains a single, united, entity. So, if Rome maintains the view that it is the only one true Church and that the Eastern Orthodox Churches are not part of the true Church of Jesus Christ, but are all, in effect, excommunicated from Rome, then, adding Archbishop Vigano to their number is perfectly logical. However, if Rome now takes the view that the Church is made up of the Eastern and Western Churches and that it is desirable that they be united once again and if Rome lifts the universal status of excommunication from the Eastern Orthodox Churches, then they would be regarded as being in some form of union with Rome. Rome would not, in that case, be the one true Church, which would be made up of both the Eastern and Western Churches. On that model of the Church, it would not be possible for Rome to issue a Decree of Excommunication against Archbishop Vigano. For such a Decree to be valid, it would be necessary for each and every one of the Eastern Orthodox Churches to issue a similar Decree to the same effect. Otherwise, Archbishop Vigano would only be out of communion with Rome - he would not be out of union with the whole Church, since he would remain in communion with the Eastern Orthodox Churches, unless they also chose to issue Decrees of excommunication against him. That is to say, he would be able to receive the Eucharist in an Eastern Orthodox Church and Rome does accept that the Eastern Orthodox Churches do have a valid Eucharist. So, Rome cannot exclude Archbishop Vigano from the Eucharist, if it offered to him by one of the Eastern Orthodox Churches.

Keep in mind in the case of the Eastern churches they consider the pope to be first among equals not Supreme over them. Any other Pope out there over the years I would say the chances of such a Reconciliation on that basis alone would be zero but my gut feeling on that basis is that Pope Francis may not be afraid of sharing the stage on equal footing with the Eastern Patriarchs But ultimately we must resist any attempt by them of doing this and to do so we must speak in the language they understand and I'm not talking about Latin I'm talking about the money stop giving money to the mainstream hierarchy of the church if you're Parish needs something done everybody pull their cash together and take care of it that way but beyond the parish level bleed the church hierarchy dry because they may or may not understand or want to understand Latin but I guarantee you they understand the ching ching money money money money MONEY money money money money MONEY (apologies to the O-Jays and you did not read that you sang it). Since they do get a lot of money for activities for the church from the government, get our elderly loved ones to stop automatically giving to the church in their Estates unless the tlm is restored based on the parameters of Summorum Pontificum AT THE BARE MINIMUM. if they continue to crack down on this start lobbying for that money to be taken from them as well. Let's have them quaking in their shoes and they will comply, or all that will be left is sspx fssp icrss as well as the sede groups such as sspv and cmri.

@@eddieschwab864 My own preferences are rather eccentric. If I could choose, then I should wish to have the Tridentine form of the Mass, unaltered, but said in English and with the congregation, and not just the Altar servers, saying the responses. With the Priest facing the people for the Liturgy of the Word (and the homily, of course) but facing the high altar for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. I am convinced that this is what the Bishops at the Second Vatican Council thought that they were signing up to. They were simply told that the Mass should be more intelligible to the Faithful and that the whole congregation should be more involved. It was never contemplated by the Bishops (or the majority of them, at any rate) that the Mass would be entirely re written, on the advice of a Committee which included Protestants who had a significant input into the new form of the Mass. I love the Latin language and read Latin poetry and works such as De Bello Gallico for relaxation. I also sometimes read the Bible in Latin, since I know the English translation in most cases and it prevents my Latin from going rusty. However, I do not, obviously, wish the Mass to be in a language which I, personally, would prefer. I wish it to be in a language which the congregation are able to understand. The Latin language is a beautiful language and the basis of many European languages and should, in my view, continue to be taught in schools. In large cities, with a large number of tourists from all over the world, then having Mass in Latin would be very useful.

@@eddieschwab864 The Catholic Church does accept that the Eastern Orthodox Churches do have Apostolic Succession and a valid Eucharist. Officially, however, the Catholic Church considers that the Great Schism in 1054 was caused by the Eastern Orthodox Churches leaving the one true Church to go it alone. The Eastern Orthodox Churches were very much more united amongst themselves in 1054 and they have failed to maintain much of that unity after the Great Schism. However, the Catholic Church has chosen to adopt a pragmatic approach. It would be unrealistic to assert that each and every member of the Eastern Orthodox Churches is in a state of schism, and, therefore, excommunicated and destined to be lost. That is, simply, an unrealistic position to adopt. However, given that the Catholic Church does not now really consider the Eastern Orthodox Churches to be schismatic and excommunicate, any person who becomes a member of an Eastern Orthodox Church can receive a valid Eucharist from a Priest in the line of Apostolic Succession. It is this which makes excommunicating Archbishop Vigano so problematic. The whole basis of excommunication is that the schismatic has acted in such a way as to completely cut himself off from the whole Body of Christ and is cast out into the outer darkness, unable to receive the Eucharist or enjoy fellowship with any other Christian. The Pope simply does not have authority which is wide enough to produce the effect which he wishes to achieve - he does risk simply making himself look rather silly.

Heck for that matter they didn't do away with doing it from the high altar even in the novus ordo until somewhere in the early seventies I grew up knowing nothing but the new Mass but there are pictures of the parish that we went to for years where the altar had been right up against the wall with the Tabernacle dead center rather than off to the right and that was a relatively modern built church although it was laid out in cruciform layout for the modern aesthetic of the building based on some of the pictures when Father Hank Willett was there, it was quite nice and certainly would have been more than acceptable for tlm aesthetic if they would have added a rail that much had already gone away by the time it was completed in 1970, but yeah supposedly most priests were still doing the mass ad orientem in the early years of the novus ordo. I think it was mid-70s when they went to versus populum (facing the parishioners. Even some of the early pictures of that church for that matter before they added more pews had a few quite lovely side altars in the transept near the front of the sanctuary as well as another altar near the back by the cry room. Really wish they had kept that location and building but the growth of the parish dictated a new location only thing worse than that was the charlatans that they got to help them come up with the redesign never cringed at the words Living Stones before, but what that guy did to our lovely church I want to vomit.

I have a question though; if Peter has the keys and what he binds, he binds and what he looses, he looses…how does the Church continue if what is changed, whether we like it or not, is ignored?
This seems to be the difficulty from a continuity of the Faith.
This is the apparent trap of humans deciding things in the Church, but does the Pope have the keys or not and what are the limits?

Theologians call it a "negative protection", preventing false dogma/doctrine from being *formally* promulgated as binding upon the Church. The Pope can ONLY teach/preach the Faith _as it has always been taught from the beginning, AND defend the Faith. Basically, that's it. He has ZERO Authority to change it by so much as a letter.

I'm not a Catholic. While that means I am far less informed, it also means that I'm can be more objective. This is not my fight, although I am on your side.
*Many of the arguments against Pope Francis making this move assume that he and those like him don't want to see the exodus of millions of traditional Catholics. That may be wrong. It's quite possible that they see this move as a way to rid themselves of those very people.*
Why? In law and politics there's an expression, "Follow the money." It means that to understand an issue you must look at who benefits financially. In religious disputes there's something similar, "Follow the property."
Hierarchical Catholicism, with Pope Francis at the top, is one of the largest owners of buildings and land on the planet. Whoever controls that has enormous wealth and power. Getting traditional Catholics to leave would radically empower the religious and cultural forces surrounding Pope Francis.
Something similar has been happening with major Protestant denominations in the U.S. For some of them, legal documents place the ownership of churches and schools in the hands of the denomination's hierarchy. A church or school that leaves, fully supported its members, finds that hierarchy taking legal action to take over its facilities even though almost all the costs of those buildings had been provided by those departing local members.
Much the same could happen to Catholic churches and schools. In fact that may be the long-term goal of Pope Francis and those behind him.

The document is expected to 'drop' next month, but I have no doubt that it was written a long time ago. Holding off "lowering the boom' is a form of abuse, hatred, and vindictiveness. They know we are waiting to see how much 'punishment' the pope is going to inflict on us who wish to worship as Jesus decreed and the great saints of history embraced. Isn't wishing to follow in the steps of the saints a prime way to become saints ourselves? I was thinking of moving back to near my previous parish that offers the TLM (Right now, that parish 1.75 hrs. away). Even its NO masses are night and day different from the ones offered at the average parish: No 'sign of peace', no rock music, votive candles to light are available, and you can hear a pin drop (most of the time) when you enter. It was even more traditional before the previous pastor died. I can't rely on the parish staying that way forever, but if the TLM is banned there, I am concerned that the parish will change due to fewer graces, and because many of the TLM attendees will not come and will choose, instead, to drive to a FSSP, etc. chapel. The nearest FSSP parish to me is 3.5 hrs. away. If I were not a widow caring for my parents in their 80s (I am the sole surviving child), I would consider driving that far, but I don't feel able to do so alone. Oh, how I wish the FSSP and ICKSP had grown faster and that their chapels had multiplied 100 times more in number than they did. I can't move far due to my parents now (My family tends to live into their 90s), but perhaps it will be possible in 10 years after they pass; but, by then, I will be in my 70s and even more alone. I know why the pope and his henchmen hate us so much. What I don't understand is why they love non-Catholics more than us.

There is a white paper on this well documented that explains this matter. I can post it here if you want to read it.

Links won't work. The changes in the sacraments (including Holy Orders) are still valid. There have been legit Eucharistic miracles at NO Masses said by priests ordained with the new rite. Your white paper is just someone's opinion and thus carries no weight.

While a historical precedent does create a foundation for a theological position to sit on. Really, all theological positions with no historical precedent, always sat on the foundation of logic only. Is it logical for someone who wants to eliminate the papacy and replace it with synodality, to intent to become a person with the authority of a pope? It doesn't if they claim they are going back to historical synodality. He is going to become what he claims is an illegitimate authority, to re-establish historical authority? If the papacy is historical authority, which all Catholic believe, then he is merely undermining the rightful authority of the Church! In that case he became the rightful authority to illegitimately end the rightful authority!
While an Eastern Rite Patriarch can decide to not be a Patriarch and join the Roman Rite (eliminate his own authority which he also needs the consent of a majority of his subjects and he needed and got the consent of the pope in Quo Primum), he cannot claim there can not be, or does not have to be, a Patriarch of the Roman Rite! Nor can he claim as a Patriarch, he never held a position of authority.
Archbishop Vigano's position sits on the foundation of what constitutes a valid marriage and is a logical position alongside the positions of Fr. Kramer and Dr. Edmond Mazza.
What has no foundation, is to believe Francis, when failing to condemn error, can do what Pope Liberius could not do, when failing to condemn error. Pope Liberius could not make St. Athanasius guilty of schism, and Francis cannot make Archbishop Vigano guilty of schism!

Good morning. Good information, no lagging whatsoever, thank you.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Pope St. Piux X, proclaiming ex cathedra,. the Tridintine Mass in perpetuity as being a valid Mass? Can a Pope somehow take an opposite stance to a proclamation on Faith and Morals and reverse it? Doesn't this go against Papal infallibility? I could use some clarity on this matter.
Pray for the Church. Ave Maria.

No, a Pope cannot change something like that if it would negatively affect the Teachings of the Faith (like, ditching the TLM), or cause genuine scandal (actual stumbling blocks to understanding the Faith) among the Faithful.
Quo Primum by Pope St. Pius V set the TLM in granite with his strongly worded Papal Bull.

I wonder, does Oratory's get treated the same as FSSP and ICTK's? Since the definitive foundation of an Oratorian Congregation is actually done by the Roman Pontiff directly, which makes a Congregation what is called a “Pontifical Right” foundation.

Question: Bishop Schneider I thought only offered masses in the traditional rite, I can’t imagine that he would obey this, or any bishop tied to the TLM, do you have thoughts on this? Bishops who are friendly to the FSSP/ICKSP etc. do you think they would adhere to not allowing their seminarians to be ordained in the traditional rite? I see this causing a huge rupture where these unjust orders wouldn’t be obeyed. They would have the Tradition of the Church to support them…that is like the pope saying we are going to remove the Epistle of St. James from Sacred Scripture…he doesn’t have the authority to do that or to ban a rite of mass that has come down from the Apostles.I don’t know…it just seems it will get to a point where the clerics will have to outright resist…
