Some really great pieces of advice, although quite general. I have been living in Germany for just about a year now and it's my first time being away from India. I have been away from home before for my bachelors but that was within India in another state... In a foreign land, the challenges I faced were: 1. Breaking the bubble: Its really hard to break into the circle of Germans as they prefer conversing in German and I surmise that not everyone feels comfortable with POCs especially brown people. 2. Some people say avoid desi friends... that's easy to say for someone who is really good at making friends especially those who come from different parts of the world with different cultures and languages. I personally was quite successful in making international friends as I have quite a few jokes and conversation starters up my sleeve which helped in breaking the ice, but making friends irrespective of their Indian origin is really important. It doesn't mean that u stay exclusively in the company of desi friends but keep having a good mix. 3. Immerse yourself in the language. I faced a lot many challenges with my accomodation, for which I had to read the contract (20-30pgs) and undeestand the nuances and whether I should take the matter with landlord or not and it helped me a lot. Also I realised going to WG castings( where people in a shared flat interview you) is a great opportunity to practice German speaking skills for FREE😂...even though ultimately they dont select you😢

what I think should be a major point in this talk is, avoid desi friends. period.
Not all desi friends are bad. Always look at the values! Thats what life taught me
I am in EU since 2012 as I cut it off with desi friends I am on track a stability is coming in life.

For odd jobs apply on websites like job mensa, the best way is to take your cv and directly go to a restaurant and ask them for a job
