Thank you for this much needed info. I have a special needs dragon who doesn't eat on his own and requires syringe feedings so this is definitely appreciated. He's normal in every other aspect and looks perfectly healthy in appearances but when he was young he had parasites and even though he's been treated and checked and rechecked at the vet he never regained his appetite. Thankfully he's a sweetie and doesn't really mind being "force fed" where he doesn't like the initial parting of his lips but as soon as he tastes food he's suddenly cooperative. He's 6 and we've been managing like this for several years now so hoping to get another 6+ years with him with proper care and extra maintenance since, as we say, he doesn't lizard well. But he's a great companion and loves car rides and hanging out watching people or his family game. I love this lil guy so much and want him to be with us as long as comfortably possible.
How do you prepare his food? I've a fifteen y/o girl who's gotten incredibly finicky in her senior years, I should definitely see how she takes to syringe-feeding!
@@RoundSeal Sorry for the response delay! I usually start with an organic 1-ingredient baby food as a wet base, like butternut squash or pumpkin if he's a little constipated which happens in the winter months when he gets lethargic but doesn't actually brumate. Then I add Repashy powders to thicken it, since stage 1 baby foods are pretty runny and he needs more nutrients than it offers. I have a scoop (not sure of its size) but I add either 1-2 scoops of (Repashy Beardie Buffet) or (Repashy Veggie Burger) to the baby food - amount added depends on amount of baby food base I'm using since there's different sizes between jars, tubs, and pouches of baby food. And then I add some calcium powder like (Repashy Calcium Plus) or (Fluker's Repta Calcium with D3 flavored with strawberry & banana) in the winter half of the year - and I use calcium without D3 in the summery half of the year. In the winter he wakes and lays half-out/half-in his hide some days, like a dog in a dog house, so he isn't getting as much uvb as he would in the warmer months. I mention this so you can adjust yours to your dragons unique habits and preferences. My guy doesn't care much for Repashy on its own but he likes the baby foods and eats it readily when mixed. We live in Alaska so 4-6 months of the year we don't have much produce to choose from but when it's available I'll puree fresh greens and veggies to use as a base. For the things he doesn't really like but should be eating I use the strawberry banana calcium powder to help mask it so he doesn't spit it back at me like a baby 😅 I use store bought syringes intended for medicating infants, found in the pharmacy section with the baby meds usually. He chews the tips so they get thrown out periodically when they're too chewed to get clean or it looks like the tip is weakening enough he might accidentally gnaw it off and eat it. I can't imagine that being pleasant to pass since it's rough from being chewed. But he usually eats 10-15cc depending on if he's pooped recently or hasn't been as active, etc. That's all I can think of in the moment, let me know if you or anyone has any questions. I ordered the beardie pellets Emily was praising and hope to grind them down and add them to some baby food for him too. I try to mix it up, sometimes I use some other beardie safe baby foods that he can't have regularly but can have occasionally just to keep it interesting and not burn him out on any one thing.

Hey!! I’ve been brushing my beardie’s teeth for a few years now and I wanted to share my experience in case it’s helpful to anyone. What I do is buy those braces bracket brushes and that works as basically a mini toothbrush for them. I pull his lip down on one side and stick the brush in there and brush it just like a toothbrush, repeat for the other side, and maneuver it so it brushes the inside of his teeth as well while he tries to lick away the intruding brush. My vet also has me use the Maxi/guard oral gel as his toothpaste.
chinese water dragons are like the insectivorous, tropical, arboreal, elongated bearded dragons. i have raised an adult male from a hatchling and they are so much more interesting than they get credit for. the agamid family is definitely a special place in my heart.
When I worked at petsmart we had one in the back that had some mouth rot and was being treated and that little guy was the coolest reptile I’ve ever met I wish I had the time and energy to have one but I will just admire them from afar :)
How about a video on Cheyanne or Rex maintenance? Like nail trims, beak, cleaning enclosures, etc, maybe throw in how you take care of the rodents and doing checks and maintenance or a episode on what you do at the warehouse? Used to work in the back room at our local Wal-Mart, was an inventory associate with the power lift and forklift certs. Pretty fun job, the one after was much more fun though, did the same but at a boat yard/boat repair shop and snowmobile and atv/boat motor sales and all that. Did some work on boats and a couple yachts, a tug boat and a crab boat. Then worked up in the sales floor doing inventory and stocking shelves, basically whatever they needed me to do, then I got hurt while trying to put the kids to bed, got my arm pinned and fell with it stuck on my wrist. It was a great time. Fractured my wrist, bruised the bones and broke a couple fingers and a torn muscle. It stung a bit. Lol. But they let my son's mom work in the office while I was recovering up till a week after my cast was removed. That was awesome of them. Miss that job. (Sorry for the long comment!) Just an idea that came to mind and wanted to share something, if anyone has a better idea feel free to add it. Hope everyone has a wonderful day and a very happy Holiday season! ❤

I really, really appreciate this video. I can give you some tips. Look up your native snakes, give them appropriate hides, like ceramic hides in shade, or a hide in a tree. A water dish if you live somewhere very hot (other visitors will also enjoy this), make sure there are rocks laid out in sunny spots you don't plan to hang around a lot. That way both you and the snakes don't accidentally get spooked by each other while they're basking.
All this is from my own experience trying to get adders (vipera berus) and grass snakes (natrix natrix) move into my yard. Venomous snakes in my area aren't actually all that bad if you give them space, they're just spicy friends who like their personal space
Poor little guy! I used to have to do this with my old leopard gecko Cheeto who lived till she was 20, but due to her old age, she couldn’t eat too well and would get superworm goo stuck in her teeth and when it hardened I had to get it out cause she was too tired to try to lick it herself. Had to do it about twice a week and anytime I did, I would get the weirdest looks from anyone visiting. Thankfully, she was super friendly and understood it had to be done so she was patient when I did it and never squirmed or fought me about it. Rest in peace Cheeto, I love you lil geck

I know this is way off topic, but I was watching a video from Feb 12, 2021, and I saw Peanut, your Bullsnake! I don’t know if you still have him, because you mentioned retiring him then. I was amazed at his size! I searched to find out that 8.5 feet is supposed to big on the large end. Is peanut longer than that? Were you amazed to have one huge one like him, especially when the other don’t even look like they compare. He’s an impressive Bullsnake! At least to me he is…
This is actually really helpful. The last beardie I had was trained to open his mouth by brushing the sides and I say smile but now that I've adopted one I haven't been able to check her teeth at all
Well after seeing this had to check my beardie to make sure I’m doing good because we’re already dealing with tail issues from the people we rescued him from. He refused to open his mouth no matter what I did but I could move his lip and didn’t see any redness but then he got sassy so I didn’t wanna stress or aggravate him more but hopefully he’s good I’ll check again maybe when he gets his bath
May grandson has one of them so glad you talk about the babys Timmy is so sweet that what his name is he is about 4 years old that how long we had him He love him He sleeps with him and stay in the blanket today warm .She is a good dragon. Thank you for telling us how to keep her happy She love bath.
These aren't necessarily health questions, but..Best substrate for snakes that like to dig? More info on how to know if a snake is wild caught? What kind of reptiles and snakes can you actually target train? Some of them? All of them???
Neither of my beardies ever had issues with their teeth, but Luna somehow managed to get a tongue infection. Her teeth were fine, her gums were fine, but her tongue was inflamed and hurt for her to move it (which is bad since they use it to grab their food.) The vets seemed very confused by how exactly this happened, but gave her antibiotic shots once a week for about a month until her tongue healed. In the meantime we gave her applesauce blended with some blueberry (her favorite) calcium powder, banana, and a tiny bit of high protein Icelandic Skyr (my mom thought it would go well with the rest of the flavors in the mush, and give her protein)
OMG today is my friends b day and yesterday her mom picked us up from school and surprised her! Her name is Mocha Lyn (last name) she is a juvenile from a nice lady and we are literally so excited. I have a beardie, bravo and he was a rescue. Happy b day (my friend)!
We had a bearded dragon named stumpy growing up. For obvious reasons. He lived out the rest of his life as a breading dragon and we like to think he had fun
Can you please make a guid for crested geckos? In have one and he’s pretty a healthy and everything but I do want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to make him happier
6:20 I don't remember if it was betadine but when I developed a dry socket from my wisdom tooth removal, the dentists took a string of gauze soaked in that solution and stuffed the socket with it. It tasted very weird throughout the whole day, but the vertigo went away within... 15-30 mins? So yes, it does kinda taste weird.
i actually saw the new bearded dragon pellets at my local reptile store and thought about getting them, now I'm definitely gonna go back and grab it for my 6 month old beardie lol

Please do a time lapse of your eggs growing or your snakes in broomation 😍
We own a beardie named Walter the Wizard. I never knew about this!! I’ll be checking his teeth ASAP.
Well I tried the eye thing and I tried to open my dragons mouth but she’s not budging just standing there staring at now but her teeth are clean

Cute, bearded dragons
I love this vid! The only problem is that not everyone has a Pokémon

Love the snake ring Emily!!
Omg I love them so so much
I'd love to adopt a beardie
Ah yes a tutorial that I need to watch for the beardie I 100% have
