It’s customary for film/TV producers to give all Europeans in “Period Dramas” British accents, because most of the English speaking audience are familiar with that accent and psychologically associate it with the past. Many films about the Roman Empire used British accents but Rome is part of Italy so technically Julius Caesar would have had an Italian accent. However, almost all the actors who has played him do it with an English accent. I hire a French actor to do voiceover and I found that the accent was a little distracting to the following the story. Again, it’s pretty standard in film and TV
This entire series is so good and well-written. I can’t wait to watch it!
