Glad to see you made it through the eye last night. Weird to see you out in the storm as you normally set up the equipment and get out of the way as the data was the priority.

perry got the true center. . they are a storm magnet.. i sure do wish the hurricanes were just.. not a thing. its depressing with all the damage and loss of life, and loss of homes

Our side here in Central/East Central FL used to be a "storm magnet" back in 2004, 1999, and a couple seasons back in the 1920's and early 1930's. We've been lucky here the last 20 years, but there's still plenty of season left. Last time we had a hurricane here on our side, it was a Cat 1 in November. I was surprised how much wind we got here, from Helene last night actually. There was a 53mph wind gust recorded by an ASOS station at the Melbourne International Airport, never seen wind that strong from a hurricane that far away. We didnt even have wind that strong here from Dorian, and it was right off shore in 2019.

It’s thrilling that hurricanes exist. The one natural disaster a lot of people enjoy though they won’t admit it.

Thank you Mark and his team. Bradenton and Tampa took a slap, but it could have been so much worse.
