I think it's sweet how even though T.J. was jealous of Gretchen, he still helped train her for 'her trip'. Sure he spent a few minutes pouting and being a jealous little kid, but in the end he stood up for her in front of the entire school and didn't let his jealousy get in the way of their friendship.

I love TJ’s innocent imagination of how space would be like. He really thought he’d be that boss😂. Also, it takes about 4 and half years to get to Mars, the trip would’ve killed them if they went unprepared.

I find it wrong how some people don't understand how much TJ cares about his dream of being in space. i love how he's supportive of Gretchen and gets angry when people make light of his dream of space travel. its episodes like these that show you they are real friends.

He’s 100% in the wrong though. It is not wrong to have a very very VERY huge dream and being so passionate about one day going into space and been dreaming of that since one is a kid, but the way he goes about it is wrong because he literally shoved that dream into Gretchen’s face that he just ended up acting selfish and doesn’t give a damn about her opinion.
Besides, she is not wrong. A HUGE PART ~*~IS~*~ ABOUT THE SCIENCE. The only reason why he doesn’t get it is that he is a kid. Anyone that young isn’t mentally capable of understanding that.

This was a Gretchen/TJ episode and I loved it. Love when the take any combination of the group and see what happens pure awesomeness.

Just because she’s smart doesn’t mean everyone in the world is, and yes that goes for NASA too. I mean there’s a reason finding people with an insane amount of both book smarts (aka academic knowledge) and street smarts (aka interpersonal skills) is so rare because one often has to sacrifice one in order to obtain the other.

Actually, in zero g, there is no up and down. Everything else seems to move around you. Meaning that trying to eat something upside-down as a simulation is flawed.

What...?? TJ is the most generous kid in this show. Maybe in this episode he acts pretty weird, but he had thought especially about Gretchen, not about himself. And what about the end (his speech)? I don´t understand, that anyone think that TJ is selfish ignorant (just because he acts a little weird in some episodes). If it´s not kind of joke. I saw all episodes and he acted almost always so kindly and generously. *Sorry for my bad english*

Uh... No TJ, numbers and details mean a lot more than your childhood dreams. You can't shit on everything Gretchen has done just because it doesn't fit your fantasy.
That was the point, though. He knew that being an astronaut meant having some of the characteristics that he described, but realized as he got older the reality of what it takes to be an astronaut and that he didn't have the smarts to do it despite trying to desperately hold onto his dream even if projected onto a friend that has different values for the same thing.

I know that these are supposed to be kids, and they are supposed to be wrong, but you wouldn't eat and drink upside down. There is no up or down in space. If you flipped "upside down" you would still be right side up from your relative position. The whole reason up and down (direction) exists is because of the gravity. We consider "down" towards the center of gravity of our planet, but that doesn't exist in space.

Yeah, I agree. I love Recess and I understand a great deal of its setup thrives in exaggeration but Gretchen's abilities always stood out like a sore thumb. Like you said, Vince is great at sports but he is not aceing adults and Mikey isn't writing poetry like Spenser or Milton. But Gretchen is smarter than teachers, adults and NASA.
