Toplița Mesothermal Waterfall | Romania

The thermal water cascade from Toplita has been declared a natural monument, a protected area of ​​national interest and a natural and landscape nature reserve.
The total area of ​​the reservation is 0.5 hectares. The water of the waterfall reaches a temperature of 27 degrees and is very rich in calcium.
The special aspect of the waterfall is due to the changing colors that delight your eyes. The special colors reflected by the water (from white to dark brown) are explained by the presence of travertine in the lower layers, which is in a continuous process of deposition. The waterfall is fed by the springs of Bradul resort.
One of its unique characteristics is that the water of the waterfall freezes very rarely or not at all, keeping its temperature warm even in the middle of winter.
However, in the winter of 2014, when -29 degrees Celsius were recorded in the region, the waterfall froze, and later, due to a sudden rise in temperature, part of the rock broke, collapsing. .
