My dad built the one @1:37 and kept the box top. I inherited the built model back in 2019 after he passed away. The ones I built were the 1983 and 1991 issues as well as the current ones from Round 2. I am still trying to build the entire fleet from the Franz Joseph Tech Manual.
Oh, the time spent sanding off that saucer deflector shield grid. Also, the latter version had the slide in space for the nacelles. Much easier than the "Bulkhead" version.
Ahhh yes, fun times researching the ole girl in kit form. And just think, during that 1998 AOL chat you thought I was smoking something when I mentioned kit differences. 😋
Thanks Steve for putting these videos together.
Great video on the different versions! I remember the ones from the mid seventies through the eighties. The new tooling was much easier to assemble.
That bulkhead version is the one hat gave me fits as a kid in the 70’s
I always find the history of this kit interesting. And always wonder why AMT couldn't have retooled a few inaccurate parts.

also on the retooling they deleted the detail on the saucer where you originally put the grain of wheat bulbs
Yeah... way to many changes to note them all. I also didn't mention the sensor dish!
