Estuve en el Teatro Real cuando viví en Madrid hace unos años, pues es mi ciudad natal, a la que adoro. En esos tiempos, sólo se representaban conciertos u óperas en forma de recitales (vi a una Caballé jovencísima en su primera NORMA). Hace más o menos un lustro asistí a una estupenda producción de STREET SCENE de Brecht-Weill, que no resultó completamente de mi gusto por lo pretenciosos que fueron sus realizadores. Pero este ROBERTO DEVEREAUX es magnífico.

È un'opera davvero bella, molto vigile rispetto alle esigenze drammaturgiche e piacevolissima all'orecchio - due qualità che non sempre procedono di pari passo. Bravissimi i quattro interpreti; un'attenzione particolare vorrei serbarla al baritono giacché negli altri commenti non viene menzionato: in alcuni passaggi ricorda Piero Cappuccilli, e credo che non occorra dire altro. Ma non si può avere tutto: regia e allestimento sono piuttosto brutti, in linea con quelli che sarebbero venuti negli anni successivi e che tutt'ora dobbiamo subire. Warum kein Untertitel auf Deutsch.? Soviele Opern sind bei euch auf UA-cam ohne Deutschen Untetitel.Warum???? Ich frage jetzt schon seit fast zwei Jahren danach Aber bis jetzt keine Antwort. Warum eben auf Deutsch ? Die meisten Leute(n?) der Welt verstehen nicht Deutsch. Ich zB kenne vielleicht 809 Deutsche Wörter. 19 800 Englisch...und 203 111 Finnisch 🤩. Lass uns die Musik geniessen !
Sin embargo, resulta absolutamente ridículo e imbécil subtitular una ópera cantada en italiano, en un teatro donde, pese a hablarse en español, se coloca la letra en inglés, algo tan absurdo que bordea lo increíble.
Act I finale is SO SLOW! Of course the singers have to take awkward breaths! Donizetti did not design this for unwritten ritardandi. He was master of rhythmic energy -this music rolls forward by its own momentum; this plods and the orchestra sounds unaware.; all is made heavy and dull. This is like a cow with a bad foot. Good singers trapped.
Agreed 100%. I actually had a problem with this conception of one of the greatest bel canto operas. First, although Mirella sang well, her voice doesn't have the heft required to properly convey the many emotions of Queen Elizabeth, and she has certainly lost her sovracuti (except for the final one, a bit screamed). The mouse being fed to the spider was ludicrous. And as well as the tenor sang (I believe he was Gregory Kunde), he looked more like an American auto worker than the gorgeous Earl of Essex. And the conducting lacked the momentum, as noted above.
Bel canto operas do not need “heft” nor do they need loony, self-indulgent, talent-free stage directors to try to make psycho dramas out of them. They require a reflexive voice with balanced registration capable of singing across a wide range with steady pitch-centered tone, dynamic contrasts, and various colors, all of which the 67 year old (!!!!) Devia supplies in abundance here. Elektra, Isolde, Leonora, and Turandot require heft. Sadly this great opera may soon be forgotten because sopranos with “heft” and none of those other bel canto requirements are killing it. I guess you’d say Beverly Sills lacked heft yet she sold out every one of the many stupendously successful performances she sang of Elisabetta.
El maestro Campanella es una director especialista en la era del bel canto y su perspectiva interpretativa del ciclo tudor permite escuchar cada recitativo y cada aria plenamente, es una lectura única, el tempo y el volumen de la orquesta es perfecto.
Povera donna tutti contra leí, Donezetti e il libretistta forze loro in amore. Il odio e in primo piano in questa opera e la parola piu cantata e PIETA! 😂😂😂😂😂. Lei senza dubbio sembra un po ala DIVA sa cantare, she SING!
