She recorded a whole group of arias with Markevitch. So few notes in the accompaniment, yet everyone changes the entire world.
No one sings these like she..... One of the treasures of the 50's and 60's smothered by Soviet barriers to a world of that wanted to hear more.....
My friend, I agree with the sentiment and what a treasure this is. But the truth about barriers is a bit different to the story we are told in the west. It is not that the Soviet produced the “barriers” but rather the contrary in that the USSR begged to be open. Think of China now for some similarities. We forced these barriers ourselves by aggressively sanctioning USSR, cutting off their trade, and ignoring their enormous achievements proactively. Their musicians when visiting afar were bribed with promises to stay in the West, and the disconnect between sharing everything in their system, and the huge wealth gaps in our system, is if you think about it, very seductive if you are so privileged. But the environment of USSR developed such artists and made their career, which they would not have then opportunity to do in the West. Thus these artists should be grateful towards USSR. When they left there were never any success stories. Usually when they left the quality of their achievements rapidly ended as the artistic career just doesn’t work in a capitalist profit based system, with the same full concert halls they enjoyed in USSR, the surrounding development and psychology, and so the stories of artists leaving even with our bribes, were almost never success stories. Stravinsky’s artistry was destroyed and he in a sense became a caricature of his past self, Prokofiev left briefly but returned to USSR after understanding the US wouldn’t really support him artistically, and Vishnevskaya left but remained bitter and her artistic career declined rapidly whilst living in the US. USSR is said to “collapse” but it again our narrative framing to use this term. It didn’t collapse but was hysterically and proactively interferes with by us, bribed and dismantled over many decades. Ordinary people in the west had no reason to support this but the very wealthy were paranoid about the success in USSR leading them to have to give up their vast property. And the wealth driven police and foreign relations, so the result is predicable.
Not at all true. Garbage! @@NoreenHoltzen
Her beautiful singing voice is out of this world
My impression is unfathomable depths
My soul seems to be absorbed by her magnificent singing song

Gorgeous voice. The piece is so evocative of sadness
