Not sure 'evolution' is an apt word for the title of this film, more like 'development' (or deterioration). E/B has clearly known more elegant days! There were certainly more trees in the town centre than there are now. So sad about Sussex Gardens. I have often wondered about the houses above Boots. Now I know.......
My very first Saturday job while still at school was in Woolworths (1969), 26 shillings a week. What I wonder, when I see all this building work, was: Where were the builders living? There were no bulldozers etc, and no reinforced concrete, everything was bricks, laid by bricklayers! There must have been an army of them!

what memories - I used to live in Bexhill and would go to Eastbourne all the time - sometimes biking all the way - traffic was good in those days.
i lived a couple of doors down from Wenhams , which was a shp selling wool and cotton in Hamden Park

There is plans to demolish TJ hughes. It's a beautiful Edwardian building!!!! Don't let it happen.
