I saw one of Bette’s shows in Vegas. I actually didn’t have high expectations, but she turned out to be extraordinary. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
Um....nominated for an Oscar she SHOULD have won for...THE ROSE! And Beaches was amazing as was First Wives Club, just ALL her films from the 80s.....I get having a favorite Bette performance. But PLEASE watch these other films as well!
Honey, she is a gay man trapped in the body of a woman! She has been there, done that! She did not "play dumb". She simply could not believe that people talk about poppers of national TV and wanted to make sure they talk about the same "poppers"
The campy element and Hollywood quality of her persona really overshadow the insanity of her performing talents. Why do The Beatles, the Stones, Tina, MJ, Madonna, Gaga, Beyoncé etc…go down as history’s greatest and not Bette is a true pity. Anyone’s who’s seen one of her Vegas shows knows what I’m talking about. She needed more hits, more international tours, the language barrier is also a factor since her act smart and funny and intensely linked to meaning, probably too much to crossover to stupid world mass markets. She’s an alien. Truly amazing beyond the gay icon.
