I’m willing to concede the Mooshanka is good and the Oh Deer is passable, but the rest of the hats this update are just unoriginal. How could this feel like 2009 to you? Almost all of this is severely artstyle-breaking christmas themed stuff. If anything, it's the definitive 2021 case, because of how much garbage is in it.
For me: The Gnome Dome (has 4 style) Mooshanka (The ultimate winter heavy cosmetics) El Festibrero (All class sombrero but is ok on some loadouts) Seasonal Employee (a detail upgrade to the scout holiday elf) Elf Ignition (Decent seasonal pyro cosmetic) Edit 1: All class elf hat is ok if your going to make a pajama character Range from ok to good, the rest are the textbook definitions of "Landfill"

The cosmetics may be overall very weak this update, but otherwise I really love it. The taunts are great, and the maps are amazing. I really hope Altitude and Cascade stay all year.

The gnome dome has 4 styles, and only one of them has Christmas lights, so it’s actually a nice cosmetic that you don’t even have to take off at Christmas time.
I'm pretty sure the "spring" one isn't even textured. It certainly doesn't look like it's finished. The fact that it still got into the game is proof enough that there was zero oversight on the quality of the items that got added for this year's crate. The rest of the items just prove it beyond all reason. You should've just unboxed an old case with actually good cosmetics and just hoped for one of the new unusual effects.
As soon as I saw the Mooshanka and the antler-style unusual effects, I just _knew_ that those two together were gonna be the SSSSS-tier cosmetic of this season.
The gnome one was the worst one in my opinion, the best one was maybe the Mooshanka since it can fit in many loadouts and isn't really Christmas restricted.
In my opinion, only the Summer crates actually have original cosmetics. We do get some cool Smissmas and Halloween cosmetics, like the Reindoonibeanie, The Creepy crawlers and the Hat chocolate, but some of them are so unoriginal!
Imagine if the Bread Space map was a map eluding to a major update.. I wish. It'd be cool to see a whole major space update focused around space with a part 2 or another part of that being for Heavy.

I've been seeing a lot of people absolutely spewing out vitriol towards the content creators lately because of this update, and I'm happy that you're taking the whole thing in stride, being reasonable with what you like and dislike, and being one of the most sensible people in TF2.

Taunts: S- Tier (C- tier for medic's) Cosmetics: Only 3 good cosmetics, Elf Ignition is top S+ (if used properly which I have an idea for), Gnome Dome is A+ Tier (insert Keemstar joke), Ominous Offering is at least mid B+. All the others are okay imo War Paints: oh wait...
While watching this I got a crate drop and decided to unbox it, I received a Unusual Cozy Catchers with the shining stag effect. It's all class and it looks horrible
its a shame you didnt get an unusual cause i got 2 unusualifiers from only seven cases and yea they were both for mediocre taunts i dont own but still pretty cool
I actually like a lot of the cosmetics and unusual effects this year. people are really negative about it but personally I like them a lot. Also Altitude might just be my new favourite map, it is so amazing.
Im really disappointed in this Update. the hats are really ugly to be honest, and only fit the Christmas theme. I was also really disappointed in the lack of Warpaints when there were so many great options out there. But hey, It's better than nothing. Right?
yeah, the cosmetics in the Smismass crates kinda suck, especially this one. Well, except for the Mooshanka and the Gnome Dome, of course, those are cool. The only other good things about this were the maps, the taunts, and MAYBE some of the unusual effects.
random theory: valve puts a lot of the good cosmetics in lower tiers so a lot of people get them and enjoy them, but don't end up costing that much cause they flood the market, while the more mediocre ones are rarer and cost a lot more since they're a higher tier. doubt this is the case but interesting thought

Feels bad for your wallet. I've spent waaay over a healthy amount on crates over the years (since 2013) and I have straight up not given Valve a penny since the pyro update. This christmas themed series is cursed. It isn't even TF2. So sad.

Not gonna lie, this year's cosmetics are kinda bad. Valve's quality control are getting lower each year. But at least we got 6 decent maps!
