  • Shielding is everything when it comes to guitars - particularly those with single coil pickups - and especially if you plan on using gain and/or cranking the volume way on up past a few hundred Watts!!
This quick video shows how to identify the negative leg on an Orange Drop capacitor, how to connect it to the tone pot in your guitar, and including a table of all of the different versions of the Orange Drop that were used back in the day for different tones and pickups! (Including the Clapton "Woman Tone", and classic Fender and Gibson tones)
Definitely worth a look before you get the soldering iron out!

I just did this..I used my little Electro Harmonix 5mm amp pedal and it worked great..I was able to test 6 Orange Drop capacitors I have and 2 other square Brown capacitors I have here to use.
Definitely help me out..I knew that some different type of capacitors had different polarity sides from doing some guitar amplifier repairs for myself but really was unsure how to solder up the treble bleed Orange Drop caps into my guitar(s).

Excellent video, thank you for sharing this important information and educating people like me.. I watched several other UA-cam videos with different methods for finding Orange Drop polarity. Yours is definitely the simplest and most practical of them all.
