FROZEN FEATHERS | Fly Fishing in EXTREME Winter Conditions | Montana Cast & Blast
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- October in Montana. A month when the weather is extremely unpredictable. After booking this trip months in advance, we had no idea what the weather would hold for us. Well, we drew the short stick, this time. Negative temps and gnarly wind were there to welcome us as we rolled into Ennis. We spent 4 days fishing in some of the most extreme winter conditions we've ever fished in. Frozen guides, frozen boots, and some frozen reels were all in the equation but we still managed to find fish. AND we even got into some duck hunting action...

You guys really are extremely blessed in USA
We absolutely are. It’s a shame so many people are intent on not keeping it that way... too little respect for nature, the environment and all these beautiful freshwater streams.
@@charliechild9361 yep, it’s a shame that some of the angling community could care less about preserving our livelihood
severely underrated
scottie doing adam dirty with the editing at 20:51
Haha
Interesting indeed. Have fly fished for sea run brown here I St. John's NL Canada in January at 20F with great success. Small rivers tucked down between the hills. Every second or third cast we'd blow the ice out of the eyes and go back at it. These fish were sea run browns and delicious. Still available today within the capital city limits. Just pure fun. Keep a few to eat and release the rest.
Winter time on the water. So good.
If this was on tv, it would be the best thing on tv. For now its the best series, period.
Thanks Chad🙌🏻
Cast and blast... yeah!! Love it
Adam is literally Kenny Powers but from Alabama. It's awesome.
Also, your content is friggin great! thank you!
Sorry just discovered the channel but that bearded fella sounds and looks like Bert Kreischer lol. Enjoying the videos top tier quality
Awesome as always gentleman!
Great channel keep up the great work
Haha this video reminded me of sneaking up on farm ponds growing up
Gotta love Montana gods country
Great adventure, please put some overload springs or some equivalent on that F-150 hate to see a full size pickup with its front end up in the air and the butt in sagging.
Great videos boys! Love the journey and the dedication to following threw with it!
Hey positive numbers for temps in Montana is a heat wave in the winter.
When I fish when it's cold I have a hard time keeping the ice out of my eyelets.
Awesome video
sick video man
You guys from Utah??? I wanna come next trip!!!
Pretty sure that second duck was a merganser not a teal.
You guys need a clacka!
You guys didn’t see anyone cuz you went during hunting season!!
Best time to fish - That’s when you gotta take advantage of the free space
🥶
Yessirrrrr
LOL
not sure why anyone would go to MT in the winter to fish on purpose?
I have no clue how these guys don’t have a million subs best fishing video production on UA-cam for sure
Another great episode! Seriously one of the best produced fly fishing channels out there, I have been able to convert 2 buddies to the ways of the fly rod after showing them your smallie videos! Thank you for taking your time to put out amazing fishing videos and not wasting your talent filming for the local news station or something! Tight lines!
So does scotty film and edit everything cause the quality is nuts??
Yessir. Glad you enjoy it!
Y'all should release a limited edition "montana cast & blast" edition flies tied with feathers saved from the ducks
Super excited you guys added in the waterfowl addition to the float
Just incredible videography. Another fire episode!!
Definitely need a cooking episode with those ducks! Another great video regardless of the fishing conditions, looking forward to more
“ Get after it” would look good on a T-shirt. Just sayin
Awesome show guys, got a question though I've seen a couple of your other videos where you drag your drift boat over some pretty gnarly terrain and to me what seemed like a painfully long distance haha, what does the bottom of that thing look like, and what kind of life expectations do you have for it, i just can't bring myself to do that to my boat haha.
I bet a raft trip with you guys would be a blast! watching your videos gets us pumped to go out fly fishing 👍
Scotty, can’t tell you how much you’ve influenced my fly fishing through all your videos (local to the Davidson). Up front, I know nothing about filming anything, but some of us duck hunters love to see the ducks up close after the kill. Think of it like when you pull a 20” wild brown out of the water in October and it’s all colored up. Love what you’re doing man!
Wow...! degree...Home with a heater...lol Good Video and thanks for sharing...
Love the video, don’t see much fly fishing/waterfowl hunting, and I love that you guys do it. Wish there was more of it, good job on all the videos.
Needed this, winter sucks here in Illinois lol
If only you guys went a week later haha. Weather was beautiful first week of November. Caught my PB cutthroat that week!
Two things I live in Montana so witch river is this and what raft do you use love the content keep up the good work
Another quality video! You dealt with some dang cold weather. Not easy using your hands when its bitter cold. Good job 👏
Just how much beer do you have in the back of that truck? It seemed to be squatting a little low in the rear at the launch
Not enough 😂
Badass like the hunting addition boys! Keep up the good work!
Shouldve thrown the bird dog away before opening it. 🤮🤮
Good ol lions bridge
Rewatching these videos and can’t believe how few views some of these have for the quality. This is making me really want to go to Montana more than ever. Next year I’m definitely heading to Montana hunting and I definitely want to do some fly fishing as well while I’m there
So epic! Love the cold weather trip!
You guys at WildFly should do a video with my other favorite , ben, from huge fly fisherman! I'm sure it would be an awesome video.
Yes, this, this is what needs to happen
Have you guys ever fished at the 3 dollar bridge in Montana... It's a super great spot to fish. I fished there this summer when I was in Montana for a fly fishing trip and it was a lot of fun! I waded it and worked my way down stream, would really recommend it.
nice hunt nice video congratulations. I am following you and I will be glad if you follow👏👏👍
Fantastic Video!!!!!!!
Beautiful country up there. Friggin awesome guys! Hello from southwest Tn
Edited to note: beautiful A5!
Nice shirt at 1:35 bud 😆🤟🏼
Such a rad edit
Thanks, brother!
Duck Hunting with Danny McBride is on my bucket list
Welcome to freezing your hands off fishing! Our lives when I grew up in CT / New England trout fishing the Farmington River and her tributaries ... Winter sucks and you have to go fishing.. Keep it up! ~ tight lines ~
Great video! A trick I learned for cold weather fishing is to wear thin neoprene gloves under your winter or fingerless gloves and pack a small microfiber pack towel. The neoprene gloves keep your hands dry and the microfiber you use to wrap your fingerless gloves and squeeze to get the water out. The neoprene gloves will make your on-water experience so much better as your hands stay a lot warmer.
Hey fellas,
I’ve never gone fly fishin and never fished a river. But yalls videos had me bring my pops old fly rod from Texas out to Hawaii where I’m stationed, just to learn how to cast, not many fish out here are too fond of flies. Question though, how come y’all always catch and release? I do more shore fishin than anything and always watch yalls videos while tying my leaders for the weekend. Yalls videos are awesome and watchin them and sittin back drinkin beers are my go to pre-camp/fish motivation to get through my weekends on the beach. Hang tough gents and keep it up.
Scotty you are truly so talented brother. Keep it up dude. Another banger
"As long as you are not targeting spawning fish" In October?
Give me a break! Given the entire river population is in spawning mode at that time, how does one determine if a fish is spawning, or not?
A throw-away line just to try and justify what you are doing, perchance?
How easy it is to lose credibility . . .
and if the air temp is below 36 far. or 2 cel,, do not remove the fish from the water.. the gills can freeze and kill the fish....painfully
Man I love your videos. You guys are awesome.
19:37 that is definitely not a teal, teal don’t have pointed beaks! Merganser, maybe? Hope so, most of the other stuff that looks like that is illegal af to shoot
Can't wait to watch this!
Hell yeahhh🤙🏼 what I’ve been waitin for
Anyone else cringe when he threw out the leftover whiskey!? Alcohol abuse!
Welcome to MONTANA boiz!🤙
I didnt know Danny McBride fly fished!!!
Did you by any chance have a fuel filters on those shotties boys or was it a video edit?
really love what you're doing but not sporting to shoot a landed bird
That was a hoot. Great show as always.
I didn't know Danny McBride was a fisherman
What shop did y’all buy the shotgun from?
@11:20, A good morning to get breakfast at the pharmacy. My home away from home Ennis MT.
That’s exactly what we did haha
What do y’all do for “real life” jobs?
^^^^
Don't you love the Madison?
Drop a cooking episode for the ducks
It’s in the agenda for next season 😋
Love your guys videos! Been getting into fly fishing more the past year. Y’all inspired me to start tying some flies and get out there and have some fun with my buddies! Keep the videos coming... they’re a nice refresher to watch during the grind of the week!
Love these freakin videos!! I started watching these videos a lil over a month ago and went out and bought a fly rod and started fly fishing! About to move to North Carolina from Nashville TN and super stoked to go catch some trout!! Thanks wildflyproductions for the inspiration in fly fishing!!
Great video , I live in Ennis and it was fun seeing you hit a lot of the spots we fish with the Sphinx mountain in the background . Unfortunately it was some bad timing for you guys nothing worse the being on the Madison when it’s below freezing and windy makes for a long day . Has not snowed since .October and November we had great fishing no people, just us . Oh and by the way that pink spinning outfit is still at the Shedhorn.
Happy Trails
nice share, waiting for the next content
One shot-dead. Two shots-maybe. Three shots-nope. Still, was fun watching! Great vid.
Great video! I'm sittin' in shorts and a t shirt with a fire in the stove while being entertained by you guys! Thanks for letting us tag along!
What became of the ducks? Is that something we will see in an after hours video? Excellent job as always.
Truotfifi bishi
You need your own TV show. The whole production is worthy of so much more. LOVE
Hell yeah !!!! Locked down with the Kung, something to watch.
Excellent video!! You guys are a blast to watch. Thanks for your work.
Reciently found you guys. Great videos! What cameras are you using?
I hope someone has told that dude that he could be Danny Mcbrides brother
Excellent video boys 🔥
Thank you bro! NM trip soon???
My beard grew 10 inches watching that intro, crazy stuff
take the gloves off for the releases and fish handling boys
I watched this further north, in Alberta, no, it was not warm.
Open water definatly fall, although a cold fall.
Can you guys take me fishing with you 😂
Plz do more vids with fishing and hunting
Netting the duck, huge highlight 🤣🤣🤣
