Brilliant review and SC2 installation guide. Probably the best I have seen. I previously watched an American one which omitted vital steps like taking off terminal covers and connecting the unit, The helmet and system is brilliant I previously had a C3 with communication system which involved a full helmet strip down almost and it never clicked back together as it did.
With the C5 app as well this is a dream!

Ive got it 2 DaYS ago, installed it and drove 300 km. Installation is easy with the prepared helmet.
Configuration is okay, a little complicated without manual - first get the information out there wich buttons do what and set up everything properly before you use it.
Worst part for me is that as he said multitasking (tanking while listening to music) is obly availible in 4 G connection. Over the whole tour i could not listen to my private music.

I just received mine yesterday. I had trouble initially because there was no sound at all with my SC-2. I took it apart a little bit, and I noticed the connection between the back battery and the helmet was not working because the helmet side wasn't pushed all the way into it's housing. It came from the factory that way so I thought I would share in case anyone else runs into this.

Where was this failed connection? I'm finding it hard to get the overall system to work. With several functions, it may be that it actually works but the sound can't be heard, or it doesn't work, which is why there is no sound. Impossible to tell which!

It is the loudest I have had. My previous SENA 20S EVO with upgraded UClear speakers was barely 2/3 the volume. At speed it is still sufficient but the bass is mostly lost. I ride with music all the rime and I’m satisfied. I have fitted in-ear wired buds but after an hour they hurt … This system is expensive, state of the art and nicely integrated…

Please Note! After some emails we've received we'd like to you to please be aware that Louismoto, XLmoto, FC Moto, Chromeburner, Motostorm, Champion Helmets and Motoin are NOT UK based companies. They are German, Dutch and Swedish websites so should you have any warranty issues they would NOT be dealt with in the UK. You would need to send the item back to the country of purchase which could cost a lot more than you bargained for and also it may take a long time to get your item back. For the best service please ensure you buy from a UK or Ireland based dealer.

Sena units (including Schuberth rebrand of SC2 intercom) are not waterproof. Sena is not replacing units which suffered from rain (as I can widely see in internet forums threads). I'm considering Schubert C5 as my next helmet as it has new ECE 22-06 certification but as for intercom... I'll stay with my old all-weather proven and waterproof Cardo Packtalk.

To be honest I liked much better the microphoneless system of the C4 (sc1 I think it's called). This new thing has a lot of pieces, not ideal in my opinion. The other one was well hidden in the helmet. I am wondering if the sounds and call quality is that dramatically better compared to the C4.

I wish that I could bypass the speakers for in-ear monitors or ear buds. I don't find that the speakers work too well when I have to wear ear plugs to keep the noise down. Even their stated 84 decibels on a naked bike is a bit loud over time. It looks like a nice, convenient system and I'm sure they will sell a lot of them on convenience alone.

@@migueljonz3901 I am glad that you found a solution to the speaker problem that I have had with many communication systems in helmets. In a few of the helmets that I have had, I found that the speakers were not even placed over my ears and had to modify the cheekpads to bring the speakers in line with my ears. I have not paid any attention to the actual location of the speakers in the C5 because I went with a Cardo unit and in ear monitors with custom tips. I am hoping that I will be able to try out the pads for long oval heads this year because my helmet is a little bit rounder than I would like. It is fine, but I would like a tighter fit around the sides of my head. April can't come soon enough.

I am have great difficulty turning on the remote, I tap the middle top button, the light is red, than some flashing to indicate the battery is fully charged. Then goes off. It's not connect to helmet thou, because no sound saying remote connected. If I wait a couple of seconds and long tap again I get the voice saying remote control connected. I hold + and middle button until I hear remote control disconnected. Repeating this sequence is hit and miss, normally get the red light and flashing, but getting it to actually connect is tiresomely painful 😣 what am I doing wrong

this sounds like the upgraded SC1a which is pretty dang phenomenal compared to what's out there, the battery life on my SC1 advanced is a long time, days..
and the FM reception is real good, a dedicated FM antenna meansmore stations maybe HD... they need serious capability .. :-)
once you take the time to learn this thing, use youtube and the operation manual you will love it, connect to your phone MP3's.. do you want phone interrupt, voice activation? voice texting while you ride using your remote buttons that clips on your clip on... its up to 9 conference call 1.5 mile or so range, however it does not daisy chain and that phenomenal so if you have 30 bikes spread out 1.5 miles each you will have a range of 75 miles, now that's how the SC1 should have been made, still time for a software upgrade...
I like he fact you can voice command, so if you go down and have no use of anything but speech you can still reach out using voice command, a keyword then "call 911" ... "locate my position and text to this number" yup
for me the FM is fantastic and teh carbon EL is quiet and so comfy, more padding, low noise... but knowing I can use a button then voice to call 911 to come pull over road rager whatever is great, or the fact you can conference talk with up to 9 others, crystal clear too, no pressing buttons, no obtrusive hardware.. the SC1 is harder to see than this its all inside the helmet... modular, I love it.. then having all my MP3's and ready to listen to at will, pause, make a call, receive a call, activate GPS with voice command, then talk to me turn by turn while I listen to tunes... it pauses then gives direction then back to music till the next turn... you c an integrate almost any bluetooth device specially comms...
the way they fit them into the helmet is so nice, those usints that stick out of your helmet I don't like you have to watch them all the time where you set your helmet down so roth, they make noise at speed, and are just goofy looking plus you have to touch a button onem to get it to work, who wants that? I want hands free on my bike, car too..
my last SC1 got unit with battery and charger, and remote for$250 was it... GOOD PRICE and with these Mesh units comeong they will go down, might have to get me a C5? wait for the carbon, so much lighter and quieter... don't get the matte finishes, they are noisier at speed...

I bought the C5 helmet for this very feature, to save a lot of dicking around with wires, speakers, and mic. The question is, can the SC2 be used as a bluetooth mic for vlogging to your phone? Mount phone to handlebars or behind screen (in landscape mode of course), use an app like ProMovie on iPhone to shoot the video? This app has an option to use bluetooth mic, so looks promising. Going to buy one soon, just wondering if anyone has tried this already?

@@incursore9 Ok, so the SC2 works on phone apps that can select a Bluetooth mic. Works on ProMovie, but there is no gain adjustment so the output isn't that loud. There is also a bit of a lag (this is a Bluetooth issue) when listening to your own sidetone, so suggest dropping the speaker volume low while you're recording or it sounds very weird!

Rechargeable typically means the battery is built-in and batteries have a finite lifetime (especially rechargeables). Also, built-in batteries are not usually user-replaceable. This means a rechargeable remote unit will eventually stop working and the entire unit will need to be replaced while a unit with a replaceable battery can have a much-extended life.
I ran into exactly this problem with the Sena handlebar remote control - the one prior to the RC4 - and it didn't last as long as you would have expected it to.

Just check to make sure the main box on the back of the helmet makes really good contact with the brass pins. Sometimes the brass pin plate gets pushed in!
If not maybe you have a faulty unit. B.H.

Nice review. Have just bought a C5 with SC2. Can you pair an RC4 remote controller with the one sitting on the helmet (2 remote controllers)? If so, how do you do it? Are you going to support this with a firmware update? Sent this question to Schubert but has not yet received an answer!

Hi Jarle, I had the same issue. My dealer (after consulting the import company) says, thr RC4 is not working. You also never get into the menu point "connect remote control". I returned it and try to learn the voice commands as a workaround.

      @@schecktor Hi Christian
I have made the RC4 work by pairing it with the "main unit". Hold the power button for 10 sec and you get the choice to pair with remote. Then it works, but you can only have one active remote at a time. Power up the helmet to press the RC4 immediately and it will become active. The same if you press remote on the helmet and it becomes active. Has received an answer from Schubert that this is correct, but they should take it on to Sena about opportunities to change this in the future.
Maybe it comes with a firmware update, or there are limitations in bluetooth technology that prevent this from working.

Everyone tells you how to fit it. That's nice, but that's not enough. Very easy to fit but unreliable communication, massive latency, one of the worst manuals I have ever seen. Sending mine back.

Really annoying visor but there is a $1.00 solution. Get 2 felt pads for furniture feet and stick them in the visor attachment holes. They fit perfectly and the visor stays where you put it at … well in excess of legal speeds…

Gosh mate, nothing against you. But I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people felt like 'what da heck, this guy doesn't know what he's doing..." This just shows how the design is idiot proof.

Yeah. I can agree. It's a really detailled and "almost" complete review. But, my one and only question is about the connectivity.
Can this system ONLY connect to other "Schubert C5 SC2" or can it also connect to some other intercom systems?
Not all my friends have this system and not everybody is willing to spend quite a lot of money on this specific system.
This week I finally bought this nice helmet, and next week I hopefully will get this "SC2". Then I will have to wait and see, how this connects to other helmets in the group, or if it is a specially selected "Schubert-group".
