Just curious, what's the difference between a regional governor/sector governor? I've heard that Captain Panaka became one during the Empire's reign and was actually pretty decent to his people.
Yes, l you are right. Panaka was a appointed as a Moff which is the same rank as a governor essentially. I'm thinking of doing a video on the Moffs too.
@ImperialsExplainedStarWars This is a really late comment. I was interested about how high Grand Moffs are, and you explained it really well in this video, however Grand Moffs being compared to Grand Admirals confused me. I understand that Grand Moff was a political position, whereas Grand Admiral was a military rank, but I was curious if some Grand Moffs were given greater power than others. Were it only individual Grand Moffs like "Tarkin" that wielded greater authority and influence than Grand Admirals like "Thrawn" as seen in Rebels, since it appeared with body language that Tarkin had more power (maybe just ego)? Or were these positions established by how much the Emperor liked and made use of you?
Thanks for the comment. Grand Moff's especially Tarkin wielded authority over the Grand Admirals. However, after the Battle of Yavin, the Grand Admiral was favored over the Grand Moffs.
Those two were part of the 20 Moffs which were appointed as governor's of a system. They weren't Grand Moffs which was ahigher position in the Empire's command structure. Hope that makes to you but Gideon would have taken orders from someone like Tarkin or Randd etc 🖒
@@alecvetter807 Not neccessarily, generally Thrawn for example, didn't answer to Vader only to Palpatine. However, l agree there are some exceptions because Vader's position within the Empire changed several times 🖒
Not in Canon, in Canon Tarkin was a special case and had more power than a ordinary Grand Moff because of his relationship to Vader, so Vader was ordered by the Emperor to take orders from Tarkin in the Death Star. The Grand Vizier could also order Grand moffs and was basically like the Emperor because the Emperor often was doing other things than governing the galaxy
They literally destroyed the entire planet of Alderaan when it was clearly peaceful and had no armies of weapons that could be ever damage the empire. Massacring billions in a huge carnage. PS: Long live the Empire and all hail the Emperor in his mighty reign of glory.
Underated Channel, great work.

I was just looking for a video of all the moffs and then this video just came up like, "Hello there"
That was good timing. Hope you found it informative. I've tried to provide their background detail.

I don't think he was a GRAND Moff.
@@jonathansayah9506 correct he wasn't, just a Moff 🖒
How did I miss this video?
Not sure ....maybe you were feeding the Pigeons? 😁🖒
Grand Moffs even outranked Vader and the Grand Viziers!
Yes they did and certainly in the earlier years of the Empire's reign
@@ImperialsExplained- Grand Admirals answered to Vader and the Grand Viziers though.

The Galactic Empire did nothing wrong.
Well, they destroyed some Planets, gased all Geonosians, murdered Jedis and destroyed Democracy.
