Hugely underated and underappreciated song. It's in my top 5 of all time. 101 Damnations and 1992 The Love Album were played on repeat from 92-96 in my car. 2 outstanding Albums.
@@degsdexter cheers mate. Just recently rediscovered carter having had listened to them when i was 7 thru my dad. The lyrics make sense now and the tunes are still fucking great!
It's a lovely band but really underestimated, though. I used to play their cover from The Smiths (Panic) on the dance floor when I was a DJ in the early 2000s and people seemed to like it a lot. Cheers from Brazil.
Takes me back to being a student in the Big Smoke. University Of North London on Holloway Road. Straight into The Holloway pub after lectures. This one played relentlessly in there. Great times. What were their names, my fellow students?? Need to (w)rack the brain..........Ruth, Jeremy, Simeon, Vicky, Dan? And was there a Mark? Where are you peeps 30 years later? Get in touch!
I've heard that one of the band members became a homeless in the early 2000s, I dunno whether this is true or not. but It was a very fun band, anyway... Cheers from Brazil.
Hilarious that Carter had to get permission off Paul Simon to use the title .... remember seeing them @ Reading festival back in the day also saw them in my hometown of Cork Ireland playing at now defunked venue The Forum olayed a legendary and anarchic gig that night got Jin Bobs used beer bottle off him that night still have it those were the days 😎✌️.
Saw them play in cork in 1993. It was rhe club between gorbys and sir Henry's in the gph. Enormous dump anyway. Apparently there was a huge riot when the bouncers didn't let a bunch of people in, missed it though.
The only thing I can think of why this song havent had many views is that it’s slow at the beginning so people might think it’s a slow song, but how dam wrong are they
I am 65 years old but remember this song...brilliant...great music is still great whatever your age
Dear sir 72 love it
Don't take the jab
I'm 65 and a half and my daddy is bigger than yours
As Peter Crenshaw, from the Three Investigators, would say:” I’ll buy a double helping of that!”
Carter USM were Awsome the kick in the arse British music needed

Still listening and loving it in 2023. This is just a classic, no question...
Saw the at Glastonbury 1992 they were brilliant.
Can u feel it...??
Quite simply the best band that ever existed. No arguments. Fact. Goodnight.
Truth

The only 2 that come close for me are Glasvegas and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
@@degsdexter the coral and the libertines come close for me mate👍

Nice choices Craig. Heres 4 new bands for you to check out. Retro Video Club. Oskar Braves. Vida. Mickey 9s. Enjoy.

Wicked then and NOW!
All the great hits , this, Fatman and decking that lizard philll scoffield all over the stage one afternoon. Peerless !
I’m 16 and I love carter ❤️
How has this only got 80k views? Should be part of the national curriculum
yeah!!!!
I agree mate and I love you all
@jemimallah We'll just carry it with us,fuck the world and fuxk this government
Such a great band. Fond memories off seeing them in LA in the early nineties
Absolutely classic
This is the sound of an electric guitar
the comfort and the joy...
Taken me all these years to notice the geezer in The Family Cat shirt at 2:42, whoever you are, I salute you.
Such a shame they disbanded. It was always a good night out at a Carter gig.
I'm 50 now but The Venue (in the day) let me in while I wore a pink Naff Naff sweat shirt on an Indie night... so ace xxx
oh The Venue is in New Cross London (SE) x
Haha f**k you I'm still 49 😜😜!!!!
Many a drunken night spent at The Venue, Naf Naf and Benetton were my labels of choice!
Before they realised more money could be made putting on tribute acts.
The list of bands that played there early to mid nineties is ridiculous.
@@buckshee I know I played there!
Love the video editing for "the grebos, the crusties, and the *goths*"... :)
I missed my brothers wedding in 1993 to go and watch Carter at Finsbury Park!
That's quite funny. Hope youre talking again...
It's what he would have wanted.
@@jameswhite7997 l
Don’t forget The Cure, Sugar and Belly that surely justifies it? 😀
I left my best friend’s wedding reception early to go see them in Philadelphia
The bravest UK musicians

Remember seeing them play at the Barrowlands
Who doesn’t love Carter people amazing message in this song to
An absolute beut 🥳
I'm from New Cross, I miss my hometown. I'm living in Ireland now.
Were you him 😮
The only living boy in new cross 😁🍻
@@weechill333 could well be, I never thought of that!😂
Definitely about a rent boy this song is
Wasn't that where all the sex shops were?
@@stuartcrawford8831 the song definitely isn't about me then lol.
‘The good, the bad, the ugly and unique’. What a line!
"The good, the bad, the average, and unique"
I saw the singer play in kentish town in 2000, good times!
Fruitbat rocking it
1 of the best bands I've ever seen live
Always think of my best m8 whenever I hear this song 😁🏴
Brilliant....😜
Lurve this!! Feels great to listen to it again.
Great energy
I dream in Carter.
sounds like Springsteens "Born to run" re-recorded in the 90es...well done!
just wow... if only I could have written this xxx

Wirral girl loving this song too!!
Claire McCulloch brilliant song 😁 from Thurso lol 🍻

@@kerrybusbridge7528 it was brilliant, bought many a good record from there, on a Thursday when I got paid 👍
I remember this tape.
Hello, good evening, welcome, and goodbye :)
Saw Jimbob live in December players this acoustic version amazing
Brilliant acoustic. Such an underrated song. ua-cam.com/video/KAmAFWfYaYo/v-deo.html
Quality Tune 👌🏻

I think Harry Enfields character Kevin the teenager was loosely based on Carters Jim Bob hee hee 😎✌️.
I know what I would have done 👌🏻

Reminds me of living on Erlanger Road when I was at Greenwich. Some gits stole my DTR125.
I used to live on Erlanger road!
My dads dt175 was stolen in the 90s too. He was pissed
It only took me 30 years to realize the title is a reference to a Simon & Garfunkel song!
The only thing I can think of why this song havent had many views is that it’s slow at the beginning so people might think it’s a slow song, but how dam wrong are they
reminds me of tim and eric "sports"
Why is this never played on the radio?
Perhaps the band's name puts DJs off. The unstoppable sex machine!
Most DJs just called them Carter USM
Hot Water Bottle
probably one of the best pop songs ever...by the way I am a metal head....
