The new animation looks a bit cheap and clunky. You'd think it'd look great, especially considering how much time has passed since the original 90s series.
The 3rd Season of the original series saw a huge jump in animation quality (especially the first 2 episodes). I'd like to see someone compare that to X-Men '97.
The noise is what always helps have the nostalgic feel to it too, I think they got the style down for the most part with some changes , it’s definitely smoother too with the lack of noise too.
The new animation lacks character. I didn't feel anything watching the trailer because everything looked so empty. It resembles Invincible more than 90s animation. It looks too clean while the older animation was more stylized. Its the same thing with the animated series of Spider-Man and Dragon Ball Z. They all had an imperfect look at times and the colors did not look as digital.
The "clean" nature happens when digital video gives you a direct source of the animations. Not low quality recorded footage. If they made a direct remaster of the original using the source cells it would look clean. Not blurred
Honestly, without the nostalgia colored glasses, I think the new series looks slightly better and cleaner. And let's be honest... some of the later seasons of the original series had a noticeable drop in animation quality. At some point, they either hired different artists, or started cutting corners. Anyway, the new series looks fine.
