I never would have thought about using calamine powder in soap! If the powder does what the lotion does, I wonder what citronella would do as a bug repellent. Wow!
Hi Keeley, I have been wanting to make a Calamine Soap for a while myself, love this video, thank you 😊 I thought I would head over to purchase one of these. Awesome, can't wait to use it 😀 🙌
Hi Trish, I got your order thank you. I received it after I had left the shop. With the Easter long weekend, I will have to wait until Tuesday to send it.
Here in the USA we use calamine lotion on poison ivy and we bathed in collodial oatmeal, I wonder how it would be to put the oatmeal in the soap if it would work on poison ivy. I had never heard of Calamine powder I'm going to check into it
I'm always interested to see how powders and clays will color soap -- usually not enough to be impressive, unfortunately. I had high hopes for French green clay, in particular, but while it makes nice soap, the color is nothing special. This time, though, the color is amazing! And since I'm from Florida (bug central and a sauna for most of the year) the combination of calamine and goat's milk sounds like just what the doctor ordered. I use calamine lotion for heat rash after being outside for a prolonged period. On a completely different note, I'm curious about the copper thing and the jar of little wooden things that are on top of the shelf. I actually stopped the video so I could try to identify them, but I haven't a clue. Are they just decorative?
If you're looking for a great natural green, try Canadian Glacial Clay. I made a soap with it and was amazed by the colour it made and it has held to well. I think the things you're are referring to are when I do the introduction. If that is right, the copper item is my Alembic still which I use to make Hydrosol and essential oil. The jar of wooden items are my over flow stock of shaving brushes 😊
Yes, covered in the pink stuff due to Chigers and chicken pox. haha. This turned out soooo pretty. Simple but luxurious. Thank You for sharing this. I love Ellen Ruth. She has some amazing soap designs.
Snaffling: verb, the act of pinching a product from your business to test drive it. (A peculiar benefit of self employed people) 😆 Beautiful soap. Nice job 👍
Wow, I bet it's so soothing to use, I'll definitely put it in my basket when it's ready, tks a lot Keeley. p.s. I love watching Ellen as well, she always look so cheerful and has great skills like u.
I wanted to give myself as much time as possible to blend the ingredients. If you add them at trace and then blend again, you're taking it past a thin trace and I didn't know how fast this one would move on me. I only add at trace if I know it doesn't affect the soaping process
Hi Keeley , funny I watch Ellen Ruth as well ( love how upbeat she is!) and have been wanting to make this as well. Then I saw this and now I HAVE to make it! It looks so luxurious and wonderful for the skin. You brought back memories...I remember being cover in this when I had chicken pox and my Mom would have that bottle out when we had mosquito bites too. Thanks so much for the inspiration and have a great weekend! ~ Michele
I too follow Ellen Ruth, she provides some great tutorials and produces beautiful soaps etc. so seeing your video about incorporating the use of calamine has triggered my keen interest in seeing how you find its use. I was thinking the colour was like a dusky rose, the addition of rose geranium EO sounds just right. I’m writing as you make, your wise let the soap speak for itself, I love plain soap. The final product is great. Do you know why you git the glycerine rivers? I hope Keeley the latest rain events still have not impacted on you at home. I know one son has been cut off at times but home is fine up there in Sunshine Coast.
Ellen Ruth does have gorgeous soaps. I'm enjoying using the soap. It's creamy and rich but have found it easily absorbs water so has a slightly soft feel than my other soaps. Glycerin is a natural by-product of soap making so you'll always get it in soap. If the conditions are right, you see it. It could be for any number of reasons. We've been lucky with the rain. A small leak at the shop but when I see the damage others have experienced, it's nothing
wow, that looks so dreamy! And, I have to say, I've never seen anyone scrape a bowl the way you do - you don't leave a single gram lol - its awesome!
I hate washing the dishes plus that's money left in the pot 😆
Beautiful job! Iove the color of yours, it's so rich💕
Thank you 🧼 I was surprised at how deep the pink has stayed
What a beautiful looking soap, the scent would be amazing too. I love that pink color, very nice 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you 🧼 I was surprised it stayed so pink. Really happy with the EO blend
My favourite soap❤
It's such a lovely soap to use ❤️
I never would have thought about using calamine powder in soap! If the powder does what the lotion does, I wonder what citronella would do as a bug repellent. Wow!
The soap definitely feels wonderful on the skin. I know some put Citronella in camping soaps but it's probably more effective in a body spray
Thanks Keely!
Thank you for watching
Im so loving your soaps, may your shop grow bigger than you can ever imagine, God bless you
Thank you 🧼
Ooohhh!!! I love it, looks like luxury!
Thank you 🧼 it does feel great

Calamine soap is one of my favorites along with my calamine & colloidal oat bath soak, and lotion.
It would make such a lovely bath soak 🧡
Wow that looks so creamy and luxurious. Well done Keeley 😃
Thank you 🧼 its so nice to use
Oh I made a half and a half with rose clay and calamine
That sounds lovely.

Beautiful!! Would love to know the oils!
Thank you. I don't share my formula but you can always see what ingredients are used by looking on the website
That looks lovely. Where do you buy calamine powder, I’ve never seen it.
Thank you 🧼 if you google Calamine Powder suppliers close to you will come up

They use Calamine powder to make the lotion. Its where it gets its soothing properties and colour 🧼

You have to be from the Mid-West (US) ie Chiggers.

Beautiful soap. Nice job 👍
😆 love it. I'm always snaffling things away 😆
May I ask where you got your calamine powder, I have some and it is very light pink not a beautiful pink like yours?
I got mine from an Aussie supplier that doesn't ship overseas. A paler powder just means less iron oxide is present.
Is the recipe for this on your Patreon page ?
You can use any soap recipe to make this. On Patreon I share how much Calamine I used and what I experienced. I also share the EO blend I used
We cant get the calamine powder in South Africa, we can only get it in a bottle in liquid form.
You can make a simple Calamine powder by mixing Zinc Oxide and iron Oxide. If you google it, you can find the amounts needed.
@@SoyandShea Thank you for taking the time to send your clear explanation.
Im a bit vonfused mam
Have you used melted soap base as well or only oils?
This is cold process soap making. I don't use melt and pour base
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 🧼

Why didn't you add the milk and camomile at trace?
