In this raw life video in Cateel, Davao Oriental... you will see us go on a mission across town to buy gravel. Anselm (Kumander D) our British friend said he knew someone who could help us out... but we had to find his blue truck! This day was all about life errands. Just a simple day with friends and working on our land here in Mindanao.

My brother-in-law who is from Naga City, Bicol and is an avid fisherman once took a length of green packing strap, a paper clip, and some local kapok tuft and landed about eight Tilapia in as many minutes from this fish pen in a small river on this estate we were staying on who was a cousin from Customs.
It was the greatest demonstration of fishing I ever saw. They would bite and he would flip them out while they held on.

Guys check to see if you need a culvert pipe parallel to the road installed under your gravel. Plus you don't want water flooding from the road into your property so maybe a ditch as well. Just a thought. Raise up the buildings as much as possible.
Good point! That's what I learned when my auntie's house was built. The land was lower than the road. Used to be rice field. Your suggestion is exactly how it's done so rain water will not flow into the property.
@@loriechilson925 Its so important stuck between the higher concrete road and the ocean. Plus you have to look at the drainage from one side of the lot to the other side. The positive thing its all sand. Mike Gyver will know all about the drainage issues during
storms.
Kulas you have fill it with earth instead of gravel coz gravel is more costly than earth. When you build a nipa hut, make the floor elevated above the road. I am a Civil Engineer, I can help you prepare a draft plan of your nipa but...

Make sure to build your house in a higher elevation especially that your lot is lower than the road elevation. You can fill it up to even or make it higher so you won’t get flooded when it rains or make some storm drainage to avoid water especially the runoff coming from the road/street going into the location where you’re building the house.

Beach House tips:
- Use concrete foundation posts, that way you minimize effect of wear and tear specially when you're near the sea
- Elevate ground floor by a foot high and have it concreted also (same w/ Higadan dining place)
- The rest, use indigenous materials like Amakan, bamboo, coco lumber, swam round wood, nipa roofing, etc.
- living & dining area on ground floor,
- separate toilet/bath & dirty kitchen for sanitary purposes
- upper rooms as sleeping quarters, you extend a little bit and you have your patio or veranda - make sure beach view is not obstructed
- Make it well ventilated i.e. "AirLaps" - Air Lapus-lapus or Air through and through. Dont worry, only few mosquitoes because its cold and windy
- Put perimeter fence on your property. Use interlinking wire mesh so that wild animals like pigs, python, etc cannot intrude into your area
- Lastly, make it simple, natural, clean and make use of nature for your lighting, shade and for some sort of protection.

Wow - You pretty much laid out the plan. Reading your tips, I can picture the interior look like. But first, Kyle need a surveyor to survey the exact perimeter of the property and where to put the landmark. Kyle, need not to wander around to search for an engineer - he can hire you.

I saw a poster of the River Adventure Guides on Bretts vlog that had all the guides on it. Kumar was one of them but almost didn’t recognize him with short hair and shaved face 😂😂😂
Kulas, finding the Blue truck is like asking a Filipino native a direction. They pucker their lips and point their lips that direction. :) I like how you and Kumar doing reverse engineeng for the new home. :)
Kumander D, I have a suggestion how you to gather your bangus for the next harvest. You need to build a Barge equipped with cleaning station and weigh scale that able to carry all the harvest and can be landed by the opening of the bangus farm and also be move to the opposite river bank for sales. This way, you can monitor the sale of bangus better. Maybe you can improvise an above ground swimming pool and bamboo trunk for flotation to cut cost for the barge.
