@@the_NNPWthe funny thing is that while I was watching this fatality I thought of a way to improve it, in this case, he would do something to make the opponent stay immobile (because I find it kind of bizarre in the original fatality that he balances on the opponent shoulders) and then he pulls the head and spine, but without fully leaving the body and then later the character falls to the ground with the spine still in the body, but obviously quite dislocated (reminiscent of the stretched part of the neck)
As a child, Quan Chi's neck stretch fatality was the stuff of nightmares! I seriously thought someone could do that to me, and I was so terrified I couldn't watch it. Of all the fatalities I watched, THAT was my biggest fear? smh lol
I always had a personal bias against Quan Chi in MK Armaggedon I always seen him as a brutal and savage necromancer, but after that he is just....A sorcerer I wonder if anyone ever had the same idea than me, but when MK9 came out I always thought the X Rays were fenomenal, and I was eager to see what new thing like that they were going to make in MKX and MK11 and it was just....The X Rays again except more detailed, since the PS2 days I always imagined "What if every character had a generic fatality every opponent could perform against him with his own weapons"? I actually planned most of them just for fun, like Scorpion being strangled with his own spear, Reptile's tongue being ripped out
Quan Chi loves giraffes so much that he wants his opponents to look like them 🦒 The fatality should've been called "Do you want to be a giraffe?" And the leg beatdown fatality should've been called "No more leg day for ya" 😂
I agree with your list but I would swap 1st and 2nd place. For me mind game is an awesome fatality that references Quan Chi so well. Can't wait for next ranking!😀
His MK4 Beatdown Fatality was so memorable I never even remembered that his 2nd one was lazy and uninspired. Going from the most memorable in MK4 to the most Awful in MKDA was a steep fall for sure. When the Fatality move lists were published for Deadly Alliance shortly after it came out I printed them out (cause that was a thing we did back over 20 yrs ago) and me and a couple friends were going through each character to see everyone’s fatality. It wasn’t hard since everyone only had 1 and when we got to Quan Chi and saw that neck stretching fatality out first reaction was “Aww man that sucked” and then we watched it again and were just laughing at how bad it was. In an interview with Ed Boon he said he couldn’t believe they shipped the game with that being in there and this was before console games could download a patch so he had to hold that L to this day.
Really nicely done as always Nick. Never expect any thing less from your videos. Never got around to unlocking Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat 9 so never had the pleasure of the beat down MK 9 version. However I will never ever forget that I described the version of the beat down to my note taker in college and he couldn't stop laughing. He wasn't one who had fits of laughter so this totally took me by surprise. Unfortunately this was the days before UA-cam so he actually never got to see the fatality.
Thank you so much, Riz. Your comments always put a smile on my face. I remember unlocking him back in the day and my friends did his finisher-we all couldn’t stop laughing at how amazing it was!
Man, I've really missed individual character fatality rankings. I feel like it's been a while since we've had one. I forgot about "Imitation" which I never liked cause it's lazy as hell (Which is one of the worst things about MK4) I had a feeling the neck pull fatality wouldn't be last cause it's too obvious. At least it's original, but dumb, goofy, and awkward. I never knew it was a joke fatality, but they had to leave it in cause they didn't have time to make another one. That explains a lot. I wish Quan Chi didn't get stuck with that cartoony fatality. I always loved MK4's Leg Beating fatality. It's funny as hell, especially when Quan Chi keeps beating them even after the match is over LMAO! Mind Games is so creepy *shudders* I personally think that's Quan Chi's best fatality, or at least when it comes to the violence. It's understandable that the MK9 Leg Beating is #1 though, it's a funny ass classic. I think it's the funniest fatality, both versions just crack me up lol! Great list, it just felt so short. When will we get the death traps ranking? Been waiting on that one, I think it will be as great as the stage fatalities video.
Thanks bsbgirl. I’ve really missed doing these, and your comment makes me happy I brought these back. I found that out about Neck Stretch recently and thought it would be my duty to at least talk about it in this ranking. Leg Beat is a certified classic, and Mind Game is another great finisher. I may squeeze out more of these individual rankings for characters and could possibility get them out weekly instead of every two weeks. Lastly, All Traps Ranked is coming soon, I had been planning on that idea since All Stage Finishers Ranked. Stay tuned for more updates! Again, thank you for your support. Really means a ton!
Thanks for responding to me! lol. It's always great to learn new information about something, even 20 years later. Really looking forward to that stage traps ranking whenever it comes. They should of done more of those after Deception and Armageddon, it was one of the best things about those games IMO.
Don't know if it was mentioned or not but that green runic marked sword Quan Chi uses for the MK9 fatality is featured in another game. It is part of the fatality used against Baraka in Shaolin Monks though this time there's 2 and both seem to be possessed.
Hope in MK1 he gets another remake of the leg beat down but incorporating his necromancer powers. Have him speed age the leg until it’s just the bone to explain how he can rip it off then beat them with their femur. The only thing bad about the leg beat is it doesn’t fit him all that well as he doesn’t really have super strength nor does it use anything of what makes him special
Ok I actually kind of like the giraffe fatality, it's one of those moves where it is so bad and dumb it makes it very funny, and that's why I like it, but in terms of seriousness it is very dumb
i always thought it was hilarious how despite quan chi having necromancer powers, he’s so dickish that he resorts to just beating you senseless with your own leg😭
The only thing I don't like about the MK9 Leg Rip is the fact that he only uses his arms to rip the leg off, where in MK4, he used his leg to push off against the opponent, which made it more believable.
Idea for a Quan fatal. He telestomps the opponent then opens a portal behind their head. Stomps their head hard enough to decapitate them, the head falls through then quan opens a portal above and head falls out and catches while blood drips from the portal
I think Mk4's leg ripping fatality is much better than 9's because it's kinda pointless how he keeps beating his opponent after he clearly died, while in 4 the opponent keeps on grunting in pain with each hit making it much more impactful
Shinnok's entire schtick in MK4 was that he could impersonate everyone, but when it came to fatalities......step aside, Quan Chi's got it? Yeah, makes no sense.
Prison inmate speaking to cell mate Quan Chi: Inmate: So, what're ya in for buddy? Quan Chi: I beat a man! Inmate: That's it?! Quan Chi: With his own LEG!
About the fatals... No.7... Yeah, easy to see it this low since it's not an actual fatality for him, is just a 2nd Fatality copy-paste from his defeated victim. No.6... ANOTHER ONE WE SAW COMING, I mean... who was the genius to have him this fatality? what a shame that time constrains made Quan Chi have (easily) the worst fatality of Deadly Alliance. No.5... Yup, another weak one. No.4... One of the best fatalities from the worst one in that regard, and it only got better in the future. No.3... Great way to use his portals if you ask me. No.2... May look simple, but was greately done. No.1... YUP, ANOTHER ONE WE SAW COME ON TOP, I mean... they took what could be easily the best MK4 fatality and made it even better. I still find interesting how Quan Chi got messed up in Deadly Alliance, but it is what it is sadly.
There's actually more about the neck stretch that annoys me than how stupid it looks. These include... 1. The animation is clearly unfinished. The fact that the opponent just suddenly snaps from dizzy to standing completely still looks really wrong. I know this isn't the only DA fatality where it happens, but it's the most blatantly obvious. 2. It feels like the opponent drops down too randomly. When I first saw this, I legit thought the head was going to suddenly snap back down, causing the body to explode.
Dude is good as the leg beat is I completely disagree with this one. I think mind controlling your opponent to walking into your blade and basically kill themselves is just beyond brutal. That should have been number one to me. Not to mention that leg beat or various versions of it is not a new concept. But the idea of forcing someone unwillingly to walk into a blade mouth first. Yeah that should have been number one but that's just my take.
Stay tuned for the return of All Costumes Ranked! It’ll be a fun one…🦎

Oh yeah. EXTREMELY crucial in the Deadly Alliance and Shinnok parts of the story, but has a small number of fatalities.
Take all the time you need to make these videos, you are the best at what you do, keep doing ur thing
