Its funny, I first followed the channel cause the board repair videos were relaxing white noise while I do other stuff, and and then he picked up right to repair, trolling the goverment, and now he's a cookie review channel.
Funnily enough he's the only the second channel with a lot of variable content that I quite like. I guess I'm a bit set in my ways/prone to perfer consistency from creators, but with Rossmann's videos I enjoy every single one. I guess he fills that a weird meditative niche for me.
I know these videos don’t get as many views, but thank you for continuing to make them. It’s great to watch someone take something broken and make it work again.
I don't understand why there are people that complain when he posts board repairs. I mean, that's all his channel was until a year and a half ago, when he started doing real estate.
@@WayStedYou Yes, but the rants were mostly Apple related. Bike rides around Manhattan and real estate stuff was a change. Don't get me wrong, I like those videos, but I like the board repair videos too. And his channel got where it is on board repair. I just don't understand the people that complain about board repair videos.
Thanks Louis for all your content, the big picture diagnostic is a skill that is getting harder and harder to find. Never discount an easy fix, as you know what to look for over years of experience. Well done and keep it up.
You the man Louis please keep these videos coming. You've sparked my interest in doing repairs like this (your store will also be taking my $$ for tools and supplies I'm sure). Because at the end of the day we all want happy spinning fans.
The soldered SSD is less about repair and more about making sure you buy a whole new device instead of just upgrading it later, or at the very least pay them extra for the larger storage models to start with. Side effect is that it makes data recovery completely impossible on the newest models that don't even have the proprietary lifeboat connector if you can't fix the original board.
The life lessons in these videos are very helpful : You wanna catch the problems while they're still young, you wanna solve things early on rather than put them off until later.
Thanks for these videos Louis. We realize it doesn’t get as many views as your others, but think about it this way: there are 30,000 people willing to learn.
This HAS TO BE my Macbook. Ahh so amazing Im grateful for your services! The laptop is now even happier now! (had to reset my clock and it turns on wonderfully now) 🙏🏽❤️✨
Also 5:56 - you just made me illegally download this hidden ASMR. Thank you! Recently I find myself tuning the radio to an empty frequency and listening to the white noise for the whole day at the assembly table. Some of the most productive days at the job.
This was nice and calming, here I am with a headache, just something nice and distracting and calming to listen to, yet still interesting enough to hold my attention.
Thank you Louis for everything you do on your channel and your involvement in the Right to Repair movement. I enjoy keeping old technology alive. I am trying to add VGA output tightening nuts on my Acer Extensa 5630z. The size I believe is 440, 5mm. I think that I want an aluminum threaded rivet style nut. Is there anyone on this comment thread that has experience with this that would be willing to share some details?
Louis, I wish I had sent my PS3 original model (60 GB) when it YLOD back to you for some professional look at it. I believe it is not your league there, but I can feel satisfied with the way you conduct the repairs and knowing you are doing it right. The YLOD was caused by a failure on the BGAs of the CPU and the GPU. BGA reballing I don't think I ever saw you at it, but just trying to show my appreciation for your work. Keep on the fight for the right to repair. Best of luck.
With all the other tech tubers "PC building" and "PC tech" challenges, I want a Louis Rossmann vs Adamant IT Macbook Pro repair challenge. I love Grahams video's. And yours too Louis(as long as the cat is around). lol Heck it'd be nice just to see you two talk about the state of right to repair here vs England as well.
You're like the Bob Ross of repair videos. I enjoy watching(hearing) your videos while creating 3d designs for my 3d printer. Its like a weird perfect match for me. lol
Hey Louis, ever thought of showing how we can fix other electronics? Asking because I've been fixing PC LCD and LED monitors for years. 90% of the time those things fry because of the cheap capacitors used explode, and you can fix them for less than $10, and with capacitors that will last longer than the backlight/driver. Most people throw them away and buy new ones. I know you're focused on shaming Apple, but as the #1 electronics repair channel, might be neat to show viewers what else they can fix with a soldering iron.
When I was in a small middle school, one of the parents set up a few computers and a printer for us to use. Sometimes, the printer would stop working, and we couldn't figure it out. He would come in partway through the day, and we'd say "the printer's not working". He'd stand there and stare at it and say "print something", and the printer would miraculously work. His only explanation was that the printer was afraid of him.
18:55 I stepped off for a moment to get my phone and the first words I hear are "I actually don't hope he has a good life. I hope it's filled with pain and misery." :D Feels like I missed some important part of the conversation but it's funnier if I don't know so I won't go back.
Newbie question. When the clock chip is pushed down onto the board, the solder under the centre pushes out over the pads. Wouldn't this cause a short underneath?
You may not be getting saner, but you're getting funnier! ;) Keep up the great work Louis! ♥ I appreciate your board repair videos on your right to repair channel ♥ ;) Give Mr Clinton some head scritches for me!

Louis is the Bob Ross of MacBook board repair. So soothing when happy fans are spinning! 😁
totally agree. I was just thinking the same 😅

Scrapes with tweezers

The NY version of Bob Ross with F Bombs! Love your vids Louis and what you're doing for Right to Repair! Keep it up!
Happy little screws.
"Does anyone see anything in pain over here?" We see the clock circuit, but we also hear you, Louis.
I truly enjoy Louis' calm cool voice. Lowers the blood pressure.
I could fall asleep to it!
that was very much the voice of some one silently screaming inside and having a crisis, not calm.
I'm sorry your board repair videos don't get the views and publicity they deserve, however, I'm glad you still do them.

Bob Ross: happy little trees
Rossmann: happy spinning fans
😂🤣 True!
I hope you never stop filming board repairs

Louis repairing a board is a zen moment for me. I love this stuff.
Micro electronics repair is such a nice thing to watch when you have a hot air system.

I'm surprised the ssd isn't soldered to the board, maybe it's an older model before they decided to take more anti repair steps
Anything before the usbc-ification redesign has a removable drive, but it’s got a proprietary connector.

He operates on it like a surgeon I love it

so satisfying watching board repair.
my first board repair vid. aaaannnd you really bring out full bob ross vibes during inspection
This was strangely relaxing. Thanks Louis, having this on in the background really took the pain out of repairing a PowerEdge that wouldn't boot up.
i still love pulling up the macbook air video where there is nothing connecting the heat sink to the fan and both louis and the laptop have a meltdown
Truth in advertising. This was a happy repair video. 👍
I had no idea I missed the word flux so much. Video saved my day. As you say, it's so meditative.
Man, it's been a long time since i watch louis, and seems like louis got a lot calmer these days

Great stuff, thanks Louis
Was the whole Bob Ross feel done on purpose? I almost went out to buy a MacBook just to follow along.
it sounded like he was trying to keep everything together to me and like he was dying inside
No, he used to do these daily, I think he was attempting to do a more basic style of board repair video
I am so with you man! I hate this idea we don't really own the things we buy and if we let them they will..o

Cool! this is a much more interesting vlog.
Ah! look at the ssd that’s not soldered to the board…. Rare sight indeed…
really? why soldering the ssd is a thing? It must be a pain to switch it to a bigger one.
@@SamuelNiemirycz That's exactly the point. Apple doesn't want anyone else but them touching their machines.
As far as I'm concerned, soldered on SSD = device is a scam. It should be actually illegal to do that.
@@toquita3d Also they can do tiered pricing on storage to get more money
awesome content, thanks

I... Actually really like being Bob Ross'd about how to fix a motherboard, even if it IS tongue-in-cheek.
His voice in this video reminds me of the soulless mask I have to put on in fast food whenever talking to customers.
Hey Louis, thanks for the great video! I wanted to see which gloves you are using but the link below the video is dead.
18:21 = Bob Rossmann got mad!
