Good comment. Faster you go, better the car is. Above 160kmh (or 100 american non logical speed units) the car softens up and runs like a train. Steady and confident. At even higher speeds, it just swallows the miles in silence and comfort. This model isn't exactly a favorite among brand experts, but personally I think it's probably the best S-class in terms of driving feel. Pity of the bad reputation due to the new painting method where the cars are know to rust. Who will buy a model between 2003-2005 will buy a good and reliable car.
You seem pretty knowledgeable. what is ur opinion on the 2006 model s500, e55, and s55. Speaking in terms of reliability, maintenance cost, and practicality.
@@JaysBaretta 2006? Are you talking about W220 model or new generation W221? If you buy W220 from the last year of production of course you buy the best and most reliable car. Generally… in reality depends who owned and how the car has been maintained. E-class E55 again better get latest years as the supercharger has been modified to last longer. Cost of ownership will be of course high. We are talking about almost 20 years luxury and over-engineered cars with very model or brand specific parts. And logically these cars will ask for some attention and periodical care. They are maybe cheap to buy (E or S55 is already recognized young-timer and price goes up) but they are not cheap to own.
This was said to be the worst Mercedes model that they ever made. Sorry But this is my first model Mercedes and its nothing of what they say. This car is a true gem. Super Quiet , reliable, and I use it as my daily and its a Attribute to why Mercedes is the choice for VIP , CEOs and anybody who really knows and desires quality and performance wrapped up in one. 2004 S430 it has everything you could want even decades later. I have had a mercedes myself and I can tell you that everything, that this guy is saying as he is driving is 100% true. Especially the years from 2000 to 2010 ... Those mercs are indeed the best.

@@user-et4dl I replaced 3 air struts on my 2000 S500 at $1600 each, at an independent euro shop ~ 15 years ago. Each time an air strut failed I had to be towed. Embarrassing how many times my "executive" car left me stranded. Spent $15k in repairs & maintenance over 30k miles of ownership after having bought it in what I thought was perfect used retail condition. Car was such a money drain...sigh.
I have a S500 L now. A lot is true what you say but refine? The craftsmanship of this generation just is not good. Costsavings everywhere. Cheap plastics like no Audi or BMW would have used them at the time. Technically complex and again all things sooner or later fail. But when it rides it is great. However, drive a BMW 5 series F10 or 11 with adaptive drive and you'll see the ride comfort in comfort + is at least as good. But way better build and has all the same creature comforts plus more.
The W220 S-class still is a very elegant car. But if you intend to buy one, go for the facelift model (2003-2006) and the S500 and the S55 AMG are the best picks; the latter is an absolute beast.
@@AZAN-SHEIKH No, they don't look the same. If you look carefully, you'll notice that the facelift W220 and C215 have better finished interiors and in the case of the W220, the front end of the facelift looks much nicer than the pre-FL W220. The 2003 facelift also brought for the first time, 4Matic to the S-class, though 4Matic W220s are equipped with the 5-gtronic transmission, non 4Matic models were equipped with the 7-gtronic transmission from the 2004 model year and forward. And like I said, S500 or S55 AMG are the sweet spots, but if you're brave enough and you can afford: S600 or S65 AMG; two V12 beasts, the latter is obscenely quick. Forget the S430, it may be a V8, but it's not powerful enough and don't even bother with the short lived and shorter S350 which has a V6 engine.
Welcome to European cars😎 Where a station wagon can show its plates and make you go to right lane with a two-seater SuperCar Even a simple Seat (Cheap VolksWagen Spanish Brand) will surpise you a lot in a winding road, dude. Loved the video watched it till the end super relaxing and the car is super smooth and nice i really liked it mercedes are awesome and love your content amazing aswell 💯
I’d just delete the resonators and replace secondary cats with X-pipe for a more brutal aggressive sound. If it’s still too quiet for you then take mufflers off.
I upgraded from a VW golf/audi a3 platform car to a W215 back in the late 2000s and on the drive home from the dealership was doing 110mph by accident on the motorway. It felt like 65-70 in the old/normal car. This was in the UK, so 110mph is licence-losing speed :-[]
My dad passed on his 2003 w220 S500 to me and this car is a blast. It's funny when I first started driving this car it felt too big, but now it's the perfect size. You're right about the car handling speed well! I was driving yesterday after work and noticed that I was going 95 mph on the freeway. It appeared that other cars were driving below the speed limit, it turned out that I was going above it lol. 95 in that car feels like 65!
S Class was made for diplomats, VIP, they were made to be nimble when faced with danger. I can’t wait to get my S320 CDI w220 on the road again. Need a water cool alternator
You were doing this in a state with prima facie speed limits? Am German, so not suffering from a general speed limit yet. Would be glad to see other states abolishing speed limits.
From factory, it basically has a cold air intake already. Air is sucked in front of the radiator via two large tubes. If you really want to upgrade the intake system just get a set of K&N airfilters.
Just a few day ago i saw some videos of this car on tiktok. I fall in love right at the beginning... Incredible the amount of tech it had back since! Dose this model come with dynamic radar for adaptative cruise control?
In 2022 the w220 still looks amazing
Car is definitely ahead of its time!
Yeah the Legend beast
That is why my 2006 S55 is never going anywhere.
I can't disagree.
2024 still look legend 🔥
the s500 automatically lowers the suspension after 85mph. its true, 120 mph feels like 40mph.
Butter smooth
