I'm really enjoying this whisky. Honestly, on first pour, I didn't much like it. But letting it rest in the glass with some water added for about 20 minutes really made a difference for me. My inexperienced palate gets roasted pineapple as the dominant profile. I really can't articulate the palate like you do Ralfy, but all I know is that I really like this one. It is definitely different and different every once in a while is a good thing, IMO. Cheers, my friend!
This stuff tastes more expensive than it is. Absolutely wonderful dram. Green and aged tobacco are notes I'm a sucker for being a cigar guy. This whisky is wonderful. Bought it for the sleeve (I collect) and was so happy to find out the juice inside it was worth it's weight.
Himachal Pradesh goes right up to the Chinese border in the Himalayas. Shimla breathtakingly beautful and worth a visit
Indri whisky that won was special edition which usually comes for Diwali
Looking forward to seeing what you choose for the 1000 episode I picked up a bottle of indri last week the neck pour was interesting looking forward to seeing how it develops over the next few months thanks for your help with my whiskey and spirits journey
I never fail to learn something from your very informative and interesting whisky reviews. Thank You.
Now that is a really nice malt mark!
Good to stay open to new experiences!
I agree with you - it's a very unique malt. I've been enjoying quite a bit lately. Thanks for the review
Thanks Ralfy, I was wondering about this one. Great review!
Refreshingly honest Ralphy, enjoyed the review and Im curious about this now. Some interesting flavours going on there.
Brought a bottle back from India a good year or so back, it's very very good. Also enjoying a bottle of Starwood too.
I had heard that the bottles sold in India are 43% ABV whereas the export versions are 46%. What does your bottle label say?
Hi, Ralfy, thanks for this review. I would appreciate it if you reviewed some of the Paul John select cask expressions. They have two cask strengths - peated and unpeated one; also an Oloroso and a PX at 48% ABV. I've tried them and I consider them much superior to many Scotch single malts, but an expert opinion is always handy!
At my liquor store they gave the info that this is at least 6 yo. It costs overhere in the north of the Netherlands about €45
Ralfy, thanks for another fascinating review. Thinking about this as my august world buy (Scotch buy will be Glencadam 15) but I will wait what you have to say about Hellyers Road and Mackmyra.
So bottoms up! leave no drop behind
!
I found a couple bottlings of Rampur brand Indian whisky and I am intrigued, wondering if any of the watchers have experienced it.
On a different note, Share price of this whiskey producer has gone bonkers in Indian stock market.
Love your reviews Ralfy and your honesty.
And like you now a days do again nas whiskies, i think it is a good thing. I got a nas now in the glass, a Glendronach Portwood.
Thanks dear Ralfy! Fascinating dram indeed! Kindest regards, S.
Ps: Congratulations on the upcoming 1000th review… maybe a Rosebank?
Ralfy, just caught you on a documentary for a moment, which I'd seen about Scotch in Scotland. "Ralfy!!", I exclaimed! Unfortunately, I'd only seen part of it, nor did I catch the title, but it was very interesting. By the way, I'm the guy from Canada who commented a few years ago about the MacAllan, since my old bandmate (the late) Neil Peart loved it so much. You commented back, which was nice. I have since tried the MacAllan 12 year-old myself, and was bit disappointed. Neil always enjoyed it on ice, which I think was a bit of a waste, unless (perhaps) consumed very quickly, before too much melted ice interfered? I'm currently enjoying the Laphroaig 10 year-old- can't afford much beyond that! Love your great videos as always!
@@ccuellar6212 Perhaps that one. The part I saw seemed to be about two partners, and a distillery called Bruichladdich.
OSWAs are the only awards worth boasting about😎
Sipping Indri while watching this
Something I've wondered about: There are a few places in the US that have a climate that is in the same neighborhood as that of Scotland. I do wonder if whiskies matured in such places align with their Scottish counterparts.
I'm still drinking my way around Scotland, but one of these days I'm going to start on American single malts, and that's something I'll be looking at.
Interesting to see how the change of environment effects the makeup of whisky, thanks Ralfy.
Looking forward to Rare Breed review!
i nearly fell through my coffee table looking through that mag glass
Sir, review the one that won double gold currently at awards. Which is the Indri 2023 Diwali Collector's Edition !
For me the world whisky of the year 2023 is Knopwood PX from Tasmania. Crazy stuff.
Indri website clearly states They use traditional 6 row Indian barley. This whisky is quite expensive here in india just like Amrut fusion.
Ralfy, have you had anything from Clonakilty for your world whiskey series? It’s young whiskey, but cask strength, natural, and with some interesting finishes.
Thanks a lot Ralfy, always top notch, have you already tasted the Cu Bocan #5 Colombian wood? Have a nice werk un abrazo 🤘
The same distillery that makes Indri has a similar whisky called Kamet. Wonder how different it is. Description of casks is similar: Aged in a combination of ex-bourbon, ex-wine (French oak) and ex-sherry casks (PX & Oloroso)! Is Indri Trini just a rebranding with better marketing? A more aggressive distributor?
Kamet was made as a joint venture between Peak Spirts and Piccadliy, and now it looks like Indri is entirely a Piccadily product. There is no mention of Kamet on their website.
Man, in my humble opinion, you always tend to be too ralfysh! 😂😂😂
Not in Himachal, but in haryana state (indri village)
Ralfy the under-the-influencer. Trademark it mate! LOL
Quite low rate imho how come??..remember u gave the amrut fusion 88 some years ago in my book this is on eye level..i liked it w 85 and just ordered a Bourbon single cask from indri w 58% and almost 8 years...exited :))
I've been wondering about Indian Whiskys for a while . Thanks Ralfy .
Oh! I feel this is a decent bottle for the bar, could be one to store in smaller bottles, but I think this was from Piccadilly Distillery when I got it ( Paradise! ), I blame the sub-conscious need for a Warm Summer.
Haven't tried yet, it sounds good.
But I was expecting malt mentions involving Mogli in the comments here..
problem is the base price for a young whisky. :/
a change is always refreshing / 😎
Yep Australian whisky prices 😢
I hope Rafy can review Japanese and Taiwanese Whiskies since these two countries' distilleries have launched many decent whiskies !!
I always thought that in Scotland canny meant can't.
Hell…I’d settle for a 87/88 whisky now.
🇮🇳🙂
My son texted me photo last week of a bottle of Amrut Aatma Collector Series single malt from India and asked me if I knew anything about it. I had to plead ignorance. He said the price was $180 here in the US.
Amrut Fusion is more affordable and very good. It is made using peated barley from Scotland and India.
@@DileepB Thanks for the information. The bottle of this Amrut says it's made from unpeated Indian barley distilled in 2016 and matured in French wine casks. It's 56.5 ABV so no chill filtration. Made for the US market and limited to 150 bottles..
The bloke in my local whisky show was telling me that these Indian and Thai whiskey brands don’t give them age statements because the aging process is accelerated in hot and humid climates. You recon there’s any truth in that?
They may age differently, but “faster” is not 100% true. Rums in hot climates get wood notes fast and evaporate fast, but I’ve had cold weather rums at equal ages and they seem just as old but different.
If that’s the reason for no age statement I would be shocked.
😁
🙂👍☕
Ruiskey😜
yea, after the Indian whiskey 🥃... the Indian beard started to grow ... and really: we do not believe the super softie wokie 81 rating ... you probably meant 51 ! ... having tried this ... 😂
Our Ralfy is to generous today. You cannot compare the 81 to an 81 for a Scottish whisky.
He is already drug 😂😂
Indians beating Scots at their own game. I don’t think Ralfy is happy
I have trouble paying $50-$100 for a whisky from a country where a pizza costs 40 cents.
Well... Pizza costs very little to make, so comparing it to something that costs much more to make is a little insipid, no?
@@DaroeSeven regardless the markup is ridiculous and I refuse to buy a bottle that made the producer $3 and the middle men $47.
@@DaroeSeven whisky doesn't really cost that much to make, you're mostly paying for tax and perceived luxury. This one isn't even aged for long, it's probably younger than Jim Beam white label which rarely goes over 20 pounds/dollars/euros
There's no pizza here that's 50 cent. We pay as much for pizza as you do sir. I just had one today delivered and it cost me 10 dollar. And although we do cost in our country at every step I can assure you that when it comes to drinking we don't hold back at all. 100$ for this bottle will be acceptable even if it is sold at that price to us here.
@@oldgmailaccount988 there’s a UA-cam video I saw saying 50 RS cheapest Dominos pizza, he talks about it. Is Dominos not 50 RS where you are?? Or is that just in certain cities?
I haven't watched your videos for four years. You still manage to deliver.
