    The Atari 5200 and 7800 have controller’s that break real easy.

    • @BlackTerror
      @BlackTerror  2 роки тому +1

      I don't know if they're still out there but a year or two ago I saw a bunch of custom built 5200 controllers on ebay that looked like xbox controllers. They were pricey, about a $100 but worth the investment due to how crappy the originals were.

    I try that I get the title screen for the Colecovision but when I plug in the game all I get is static.

    • @BlackTerror
      @BlackTerror  3 роки тому

      That’s easy. Its the game that’s the problem. It just needs to be cleaned with the highest percentage Alcohol you can get. Clean the cartridge contacts with a Q tip. The title screen comes on if the game works or not so the system is fine. Sticking dirty games in the slot might dirty up the system though so try to give that a cleaning too.

    Great video.
    Any thoughts on where to get a replacement RCA wire? Years ago, before I realized there was this adapter, I cut one of the ends of my original cord off and tried to solder a coaxial fitting on so it would plug in the TV, it did not work.
    I tried getting one of those red/white/yellow cords (because the ends look identical to my old cable) and, using only one of the three colors, plugging both ends of the same color into the intellivision and TV (through the yellow video input on the TV), but it did not work. I also tried plugging it into the yellow video input of the VCR, but to no avail.

      Ebay is the simple answer. Colecovision, Atari, and Intellivision all used the same wire so there are tons of them out there. www.ebay.com/itm/6FT-Video-Cable-RCA-RF-TV-Connector-Atari-2600-7800-Colecovision-Intellivision/391913294837?hash=item5b3fda4bf5:g:2~IAAOSw-xVZ8OYN

    How about the 4k tv do you have to run it though the VCR like the 2600?

    • @BlackTerror
      @BlackTerror  4 роки тому +1

      I dont have a 4k tv but I imagine its all the same. No VCR needed. Get that cheap little adapter (if you dont have the vintage RF switch box that came with it still) and connect the console through the Coaxial cable input. If you have a cable box and a modern tv, that input isn't being used because the tv is connected to the cable box by HDMI.

      @@BlackTerror Thanks for the reply! I ended up having to run it through the vcr then an upscaler to the HDMI input. Runs great1

    Hello Black Terror,
    I'm having a struggle with testing my Intellivision II on my SHARP brand T.V.
    I bought the RF coax to put on the one end of the original RF cord, and I screwed it onto the TV/Antenna part of the VCR. The VCR itself is hooked up to the only coax connection that exists on the back of my T.V.
    I have the VCR turned on and tuned to channel 4. I turned on the Intellivision II and popped in a game, and there is nothing but a black screen.
    Is there a special cord, adapter, any new modulator device I can buy to get my Intellivision II to work on my SHARP brand T.V.?
    Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

    • @BlackTerror
      @BlackTerror  4 роки тому

      Buy the co axial adapter and plug directly into the port. Never had a problem. Skip the vcr altogether just to make sure it works. If so then try going thru the vcr.

    • @BlackTerror
      @BlackTerror  4 роки тому +1

      A black screen could also mean the game or the system need a cleaning. Not a big deal, easy fix and most common problem. Clean the cartridges with the highest percentage of isopropyl alcohol you can find (99% is the most preferable) with a Q-Tip. You also have to clean the system. Wet a piece of cloth with the alcohol and try to stick it in the cartridge port with an old credit card or something. As far as what brand tv, it doesn't matter. Clean games and system, coaxial adapter into coaxial port, system should work.

    • @eclecticreader961
      @eclecticreader961 4 роки тому

      @@BlackTerror, Thanks for the advice. I opened up my Intellivision II and cleaned it out. I applied alcohol to the cartridge port too. After doing this I plugged it in through the VCR and upon switching the Intellivision II on, I saw a bunch of rolling number 4's on the screen.
      I wonder if this means that it requires a more advanced converter. My T.V. does offer a HDMI connection. Do you think a RF to HDMI converter would do the job?

    • @BlackTerror
      @BlackTerror  4 роки тому

      @@eclecticreader961 I personally use no converter at all. I have a Roku type TV and plug all my systems into the coaxial port with that little adapter or my vintage RF switches since my cable and everything else goes into the HDMI ports. If you have another vintage console test one of those doing the same setup. If they work, I hate to say it, but your console might just be broken.

    Hi! Which channel are you using with Intellivision consolle? My LCD tv doesn's see the consolle, I'm unable to find the right channel although I've already try CH 34, 36, 46. Thanks, Rick

    • @BlackTerror
      @BlackTerror  5 років тому +1

      I don't use any specific channel on a smart tv. I hook the rf unit directly up to the coaxial cable port. If you have the old atari style switch RF, once you flip it to game, the signal from the console should come right on.
      If you don't have the RF unit, you need the little adapter to plug onto the end of the console signal cord and then simply plug that directly into the coaxial port. The signal will come on when system turns on.

      my gripe in the video isn't that people don't know how to test the system, its that they list them on ebay without even trying.
