Looks delicious!!! My mother (who is 96) used to make something similar on winter evenings when she needed a quick dessert. Glad to see your doctor has recommended a gingerbread diet instead of the other!
Never got much ginger bread , but I love it !!! My sisters' friend bakes cookies for Christmas , and she always brings me some about this time of the year . She makes killer molasses cookies ! Got me salivating like a old dog thinking about it . Y'all have a great Christmas and pray you get your trouble behind you . 👍
Awesome video, MR. I thought of you today. My wife and I went to a very unique store today that we found in passing. They had a lot of old recipe books there. I took a video of the tour. I think I actually mentioned you in the video. 😂 It’s never as good as your stuff though!
That looks SO good! Hope you're feeling better. Good to see you can sample your gingerbread. Yes, please do some more of your grandmother's recipes. What a treasure to have them in her handwriting, and as you say, a window to how the oldtimers did things and still relevant today.
Nothing better in the cold weather than some warm gingerbread. I'll be making this! Thanks for the recipe, MR! Can't wait to try it. Hope that you're feeling better.
My Grandmother was born in 1916 and she made gingerbread so much like this! She also made Persimmon pudding and Shoofly pie which is like a pecan pie without pecans using Molasses instead of corn syrup. I love these old recipes! I wonder why no one makes Persimmon pudding anymore? I made it for Christmas last year, but just like with steak and Kidney pie and Oyster dressing - the kids and even the husband weren't that into it. Oh well, I tried.
I believe you could do it in any order you would prefer. I just kinda did it the way it was easiest, because I was holding the camera with the other hand lol.
I absolutely love these old recipes...please keep 'em coming!!
YES, YES, YES please continue to post your Grandma's cookbook recipes and thank you for all your hard work.

My grandma was German and boy could that woman cook. Her bread and dinner rolls would melt in your mouth. She never used any measuring cups or spoons.
My grandma was the same way, and anything that was wrote down was as a pinch of this or a palm of that. Lol
My German grandpa the same way and pastries
I’m hungry for dinner rolls Sounds delicious 😋

MR, why not put the molasses 1st, THEN the hot water to loosen the molasses in the cup?
Just an idea 💡
