- Serpent Mound is one of America's most iconic archaeological sites and a must see for anyone interested in ancient history. While we flew our drone nearby at sunset on the summer solstice of 2021, we had the opportunity to interview Jeffrey Wilson (Friends Of Serpent Mound), one of the most knowledgeable people regarding ancient mounds that we had met on our long journey around the United States. We spoke with him for some hours and we recorded this short interview that sums up the ongoing debate about the true age of Serpent Mound.
Thank you so much for watching!

We recorded the background music during our stay in a house carved into an ancient cave in central Turkey. We're playing a saz (a Turkish stringed instrument) & a classical guitar.
Jeffrey Wilson is such an impressive speaker with a true wealth of knowledge. Hs has an ability to state the facts while being respectful of those who have gone before.
Fascinating, thank you for the overview. So much for the history scholars embrace, humankind goes back 10 of thousands of years!
Very interesting thankyou.
Thank You
Please explain the Paleo artifacts and why they’re not really considered relevant when dating the serpent?
Lepper actually screwed up dating because he did not start the coring of the mound at its base bill romain did a much better job also bill has a much better understanding of the hopewell culture as a whole and is a better archeologist than brad lepper
The SM effigy is not considered to be "Hopewellian" Hooker Dick they came along later and there is just a bit of evidence of their presence at this site (one small burial mound for sure) - but you got the rest right :)
