Ren shows his technical hip-hop and rap skills in 'The Hunger' and if you want some Shakespearean tragedy storytelling try 'The tale of Jenny and Screech (Full)', other good tracks include 'Sick Boi', and Ren X Chinchilla 'How to be me (Live)' there are so many more to check out including his busking with his band The big push.
Ren floored me.. I binged everything he released and don't think there's a weak song on his channel. Also, his one shot videos are impressive as hell. Check the 3 part Tale of Jenny and Screech
The thing that's absolutely floored me when hurtling down the Ren rabbit hole is the sheer mix of styles, genres, depth and tones. A true Bard. I genuinely look forward to hearing more from this young man.
There seems to be so much purpose and intensity to every line he writes when some artists need an entire song to make their point he can do it in a rhyme scheme, a line, and sometimes a single word at the end of a line which can completely change the vibe and context. He never seems to waste a line just for the purpose of a rhyme either. Loved your analysis and philosophical approach to the wordplay and subject matter. Great reaction.
Dave, you HAVE to do more Ren. EVERYTHING he does IS intentional. There is a live acoustic version of this. It's the same lyrics. But, sounds like a different song. He has a trilogy of tales. You can find it under The Tale of Jenny and Screech full. It is a MUST see. I describe it in 5 words. Beautiful, but WAY not pretty. He has a new video dropping on March 29th, his birthday. If you want a rap rap song, go with The Hunger. Please, oh please do more Ren. You WON'T be disappointed.
So glad you are continuing down the path of Ren. He is so far outside of what I would normally listen to, but dang is he good. Please, please pretty please, continue the journey and check out Ren's storytelling with 'The tale of Jenny and Screech (Full)', a true modern day bard. Thanks for sharing with us.
Yo Dave! Been waiting for you to pick up on more of Ren's songs. Love your reaction to this, I think you caught on almost everything excellently in this. If you love storytelling in a video, The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full) should be your next stop. It's one video with 3 songs back to back that tell a story with such clarity, it feels like you're right there when it happens.
He lost his frend Joe to suicide, which is the topic of the How to be Me (Live) song he did with Chinchilla. It happened late at night, I feel like "people die late in the dark" could be a reference to that.
You should really look into some more Ren. He has a wide catalog of styles and abilities. Glad to see you doing another Ren vid...also, the live version of this song is worth a watch.
Noah didn't believe in the beginning. It took a while for him to be convinced to build the ark, I think he refers to us being here by chance or by God's mercy.
Great reaction. Love the lyrical breakdown and insight. To get a true measure of how versatile this guy is, you should check out his cover of “I Shot the Sheriff/ Road to Zion/ Hip Hop” with his band the Big Push. It will blow you away. He also does some killer Nina Simone covers (Mana World and Wade in the Water).
Thanks Dave that was a great reaction. I only found this song a week ago and have had it on repeat ever since. It is a banger in every sense, the beat, the flow, the lyrics, it is saying something. I feel ya when you said you want something that is real and says something!! For me right now it is Ren and Ez Mil on repeat
I think the whole Noah thing is referencing that he had doubts and took a long time to get started building the ark but was able to complete it in time to survive the flood. Ren being misdiagnosed and not getting the proper help he needed caused him to struggle getting started but that he will overcome it to get to a healthier place and build his music career.
i just found you through these ren reactions and you earned another subscriber. i enjoy that you dont overplay your reactions for the camera. it all feels like its genuine keep it up man.
Ren's track "What You Want" is an ode to The Beastie Boys! That one is 🔥🔥 If you want to see Ren sing rap guys ass off check out Ren and Sam Tompkins original song, "Blind Eye" *BUT* it has to be the live version from a UA-cam channel called "Music Crowns" they absolutely murder it together. Sam Tompkins Ren met years ago busking on the streets of Brighton. He has such a a amazing voice I guarantee you it'll blow you away. Sam actually opened up for Justin Bieber not that long ago. There's another live version of "Blind Eye" featuring angry parking lot attendant that's funny as heck because they get kicked out of the parking garage and keep singing time whole lol
Love this!! Bro... you Gotta do his Fatboy Slim one shot retake of Right Here, Right Now!!! He's Unreal! Also... Bittersweet Symphony retake! Don't miss his older stuff.... Ocean, Humble, Crucify your Culture and Life is Funny! His word play and flows are Insane!!!
Just from a ex-supermarket employee... you wanna stack things on average customer eye-level if you wanna sell them. Not on the highest shelf where people can't see. Wonder if he's refering to labels signing artists just to shelve them, getting competition out of way and/or forcing them into ghost writing for their mega stars? Also, not so randomly, put Mary Seven Three's SHELF LIFE in my head from The Crow (City of Angels one, I think) soundtrack. Major tune. Off to go hear it again after this!! bbl. 😁
Ok someone needs to tell me what he means when saying Noah was late for the ark? I mean he wasn't so what is his word play here? Love this btw, love everything i've heard by Ren actually.
I love how he molds and plays with words! Please continue exploring his amazing catalog!

Everything he does is fresh in a world of stale and I’m here for it all! 👏
He does several videos that are live takes, and I think this might be one of those. Either way, he's amazing.

Ren is a true lyricist. He creates hi-def pictures in your mind with very few words.
And sometimes a lot of words in a few seconds 😅
So glad you are continuing down the path of Ren. He is so far outside of what I would normally listen to, but dang is he good. The first time I heard Genesis by Ren I got stuck in a confused loop, thinking "but I don't like rap!" and then immediately hitting the replay button!
Sucks you in and spits you out wanting more - true artist
He lost his frend Joe to suicide, which is the topic of the How to be Me (Live) song he did with Chinchilla. It happened late at night, I feel like "people die late in the dark" could be a reference to that.
Me too
You should really look into some more Ren. He has a wide catalog of styles and abilities. Glad to see you doing another Ren vid...also, the live version of this song is worth a watch.
Im pretty sure this is a live one take video. Excellent reaction
Noah didn't believe in the beginning. It took a while for him to be convinced to build the ark, I think he refers to us being here by chance or by God's mercy.

Broken and fragile things are put on higher shelves so that they're safe and out of the way...
Man that is a very very good music reaction. Almost a blueprint of how a music reaction should be made. Keep it up. Greetings from Germany.

Genesis rain = the deluge
You've heard the expression "when it rains it pours," right? For him, it's a flood equal to the one in Genesis.
