This brings back a lot of memories I started watching EastEnders in 2005 the first episode I saw or one of the first ones I remember was when den was killed by Chrissie and I remember the episode where these sontaran bad boy eggs Grunt and Phil returned and saved peggy from that mugger. I wish the internet scandal with Leslie Grantham didn't happen and Den got to meet Peggy and Grant.
This was truly the remarkable golden Times for eastenders I rember rushing home for the johny Allen dennis rickman Andy hunter episodes the acting the tense showdown between them all was special why eastenders gone the way it has now is beyond me miss the good times on eastenders
Same here - it was by far the best period of Eastenders between 2003-2005 I reckon. The gangster storylines between Johnny Allen, The Mitchell Brothers, Den Watts, Dennis Rickman and Andy Hunter were absolute gold.
@@georgiesmith3357 couldn't agree more with you these was truly the greatest times eastenders have produced in acting and real talent who did thier jobs good age group there was a legacy for them all to stay killing them all of was a mighty shame for me dennis rickman was the golden heart 💛 of all of that amazing times in eastenders today's eastenders it has lost its touch and direction
It was a bit of a double edged sword, when the Mitchell Brothers returned in 2005. On the one hand, it was fantastic. Exactly what the fans wanted. On the other hand, it highlighted the struggle to find characters as strong and that the show had become heavily dependent on them. When Ross Kemp left in 1999, they did actually manage to keep the show strong without him for the next three years or so. But when Steve McFadden took an extended break, the show began to slip. The initial return of Dirty Den was awesome, but after Phil exited the writing for Den became really drab and boring. The Andy Hunter and Johnny Allen stuff was kinda alright here and there, but there was a lazy element of _generic gangster boss with gun and unlimited money_ and the characters felt somewhat cheap and hollow. The return of the Mitchell brothers certainly kickstarted the show back into gear, but with Ross Kemp only on a short contract it just made you realize how better the show would have been if they could have kept him.
Totally agree. After getting back into it this Xmas for two days with my parents, then watching some from the early 90s on UA-cam, they should start winding it up now because it's turned into a load of old bollocks.
Was a cool trailer & this first return of Grant for those couple of weeks delivered too. Definitely lived up to the hype. The other Grant returns though, less said about them the better.
2006 was good but 2016 wasn't as maybe Ross Kemp's scheduled availability effected it but they could've done the reveal of his son Mark Fowler Jr he never knew about better
Brilliant not seen this in a while .I remember for absolute ages I wanted to see a Dennis rickman v grant Mitchell show down never thought it would happen then grants back and right at the end of episode grant launches him after dennis tried and failed to punch him .For so many years people were clamouring for grant to come back , i was in Iraq at the time and we had tented accommodation with basic TV and when Mitchell brothers returned that room was packed full of squaddies to watch their return. That's how big it was everywhere ,the scene where Peggy is getting threatened and Billy gets out followed by Phil then grant and there mencing look at the end you knew Mitchell brothers were back with bang.
2005 was when Eastenders was worth watching. Great characters and storylines. The last 10 years i stopped watching it apart from the odd episode once every few months but its awful now.
It's like The Brothers of Destruction coming back...
Lmao best comment ever

I wish I could go back and relive 2005
So do I I started secondary school the same year! Time flies
I was in jail then.
I was born then
I was dead then.
I was alive then
Imagine 90's Grant and early 2000's Phil, that would've been peak Mitchell Brothers.
One word.. ICONIC! Grant is Classic Eastenders
Two of the greatest of all time in Eastenders
Remember seeing this and getting so hyped for the return of the Mitchell brothers.

Get the Mitchell brother’s back again
There's only one thing more hard and more ageing than an ageing hard man, and that's two ageing hard men.

Even back then, they spoilt returns before the actual episode came out.

Crackhead Phil was a unit
I think Grant is coming back to family out from the rape story line of Ben. And then Billy story line. And sam story line.
If grant came back to run the vic but only for a year
He’s not coming back.
And the two were going to confront a woman called Chrissie Watts for killing Den in self-defence and a sweet caring gangster called Johnny Allen 😅😅😅😅
OMG! is Grant coming back??!
