What’s sad about this series is that some of these kids clearly have problems going on at home but nobody knows about it and this is why they act like this. Every kid that has been shown in this show u can tell behind the smiles there’s something wrong and it’s sad

So what? Everyone’s different. You don’t no what goes on behind closed doors. Some people don’t no wrong from right doesn’t make them any different to other people it’s not their fault if the parents didn’t deserve to have kids coz they couldn’t look after them

    • @Ben-zh4nz
      @Ben-zh4nz 4 роки тому +14

Maisie Burns umm..it kind of is ? These teachers and authorities very clearly give them a lot of warnings and chances before resorting to punishment. In this day they treat these bad kids nicely and politically correct. It’s absolutely the kids faults. Parent are to blame too for sure, but unless the kids are chained up each night and taught no better than to misbehave then both parents and kids are to blame.

It's quite clear what's going on. Their parents split up, got new partners and more children. They feel like they don't fit in and struggle to get attention at home. So they use school to get that attention. Molly is treating Mr Drew almost like a pseudo dad. Unfortunately, the school work becomes irrelevant in the pursuit of that attention.

I can vouch for that having been one of them kids and there's a level of insensitivity from the staff. Obviously times have changed since 2010/11 but this actually makes for some very uncomfortable viewing now

I agree they both most definitely had things going on at home playing on their fragile undeveloped minds. I disagree about the lack of sensitivity being shown to them though, they bend over backwards for those kids. Obviously nobodies ever said no to them or taught them about boundaries and what's to be expected of them. Those teachers and staff have the patience of all the saints! There's a time to listen to the brats and a time to just go no, it's going to be this way. I'd I had teachers and staff like that when I was at school then I might've got more than 3 standard grades, I might not have had to join the army, I might not have had to drift through crappy jobs til I screwed the nut. I might've been able to afford the house I wanted without having to live in numerous shitholes, I might not have went to jail. If there was the level of support, kindness, patience and empathy that those brats are shown then I might've stuck in and the 27 years thatve followed might've been so much easier. The wee things show me there's a lack of confidence in themselves and that manifests itself in acting out and putting up walls, acting the big man just cos there's a crowd and you can't be seen to be losing face or looking like a cunt. It's tragic but you don't wake up to this until you find yourself having to work a 60-70 hour week to pay for the house you want, the car you want, the clothes you want to wear, the holidays, the food you want to eat etc. That's when you look back and think fuck me it would've been so much easier if I just got some standard grades, did some highers and went to uni. I could've had all this years ago and my back wouldn't be fucked now! My shoulders wouldn't be wrecked and my knees wouldn't be so creaky! Education is wasted on the young once you get to a certain age, course there's some kids who embrace it and make the most of the opportunities given to them but tragically most don't and that's when the battle begins. When she starts working her employer will not tolerate such behaviour and won’t care why she behaves as she does she will just get fired. I think that’s where he’s coming from, he’s treating them to some degree as employers would.

I think that Mr. Drew does have their best interest at heart, I think that he comes from the same angle that my parents did with me, they did love and support me but at the same time also taught me the sad realty of the world. The way he speak sometimes is to give them a taste of how sadly the real world and work are. Its unforgiving and ruthless and does not care very much for you own issues or problems; if you want things, sadly you have to suck it up and deal with it even when you dont really like the job. Again just my opinion.

I actually really like Mr. Drew, and I don't think he is unreasonable, selfish, or unfair at all. He has got an amazing combinatiom of empathy and strictness a teacher needs. In my experience teachers like him were some of the most respected. Their classes were the best to be in because they kept the students in good order.
But I also work with kids and he is correct that many students will think he is all those negative things. A lot of kids are badly parented and if you can't control your kid, they will behave in this unruly manner at school. Some of those parents are well meaning, but have difficulties. Then you get ones who do not care, or even turn around and blame the school.

@smiley_fnm yes but they’re teachers not therapists or councillors, they’re not trained to deal with complex family issues and there are hundreds of children, not just this one child that takes up 80% of their time. Coupled with lack of funding it is a completely unfair and unrealistic to expect teachers to deal with these situations especially when the kids are (understandably) defensive. But we’re so quick to make excuses for badly behaved kids and I’m sure these out of school issues are a massive factor but there HAS to be a point where the young person has to start making the right decisions for themselves, no matter how small. They get absolutely no boundaries at home and then people complain when school RIGHTLY sets them so they don’t get a very rude awakening in adult life. Call your boss an idiot or a prick and see how long you have a job for. You can’t just scream or cry every time you’re upset and expect it to work out, life doesn’t work like that. The sooner they understand this the better. Periodt.

I heard once a saying " In a hundred years time, no one will remember how much I had in my bank account, the car I drove or what my house was like. Yet the world may be a better place as I was important in the life of a child" I worked in a senior school with children like Molly, and ot was the hardest but most wonderful job ever. I think Mr Drew is amazing, it's so hard giving students boundaries when they have never had them but it shows too how much he cares. I have many of my ex students now on Facebook, and I feel so privileged to have been able to watch them grow then become parents themselves. Teachers and every other member of staff in a school play such an important yet undervalued role. They are the ones who often hear first a child is being abused, supporting them through the illness or death of a loved ones, and helping them cope with feelings and emotions that are totally new. I will never forget the fear in the eyes of girls who came to ask me if it's normal for their periods to be late or looking after a fifteen year old in early labour and the ambulance was delayed. You truly do get a special place in your heart for these children.

I used to be like that kind of student in my primary and high school years by disrespecting and making teachers' days difficult. At the time of this comment, I'm in my mid-30s now. I realised teachers are just doing their job to ensure pupils have a brighter future. Misbehaving could put their teaching career to an end. Even thinking about it, I still regret what I did over 20 years ago.

I appreciate Mr. Drew's approach to some situations, however I don't think it works for every situation. I for sure would be a rebel if he spoke to me the way he speaks to some of these students.

totally agree. For example, take Molly, (look at me when I am speaking, take your hands out of your pockets, don't cross your arms, do up your tie), and that was all in the space of about 40 seconds. That is just controlling and ridiculous behaviour by Drew. Why is it Drew feels he has a right to talk down to kids like that, but if he spoke to an adult like that, he is just as likely to have a rather nasty reaction that he might not like.

Fr I agree, all teachers who like to prove they're higher up and they don't listen to ur side or anything obviously they're gonna have a negative reaction and become argumentative, I know I would

It amazes me that he seems completely oblivious to the fact that his condescending, snarky tone clearly escalates so many of the interactions he has. I never had a single punishment form in my seven years at secondary school, but I feel certain even I’d have snapped back at him eventually. He’s literally a red rag to a bull.

Not sure I like Drew's attitude sometimes. Take Molly, (look at me when I am speaking, take your hands out of your pockets, don't cross your arms, do up your tie), and that was all in the space of about 40 seconds. That is just controlling and ridiculous behaviour by Drew.

It kind of annoys me I’ve noticed that if a smart kid does something wrong they get in so much trouble compared to people who are struggling in school when they mess up they get treated with a lot more compassion

I love how even though these kids are sometimes difficult and not nice to the teachers, the teachers still have nice things to say about them and to them. The way they talk about the students potential, to do and to be whoever they want, is really nice. I really appreciate their ability to seperate the behaviour from the person.

@@alfiem2558 mate this is the 2nd comment ive seen of you disagreeing with praise towards Mr. Drew. The reason you do not like him is because you are a child and do not yet posses the maturity to respect the patience teaching stroppy little whiny teens takes.
