We call this music "keroncong" ... and yes, it is modern keroncong. In classic keroncong, the instruments are guitar, 2 ukulele, cello, violin, flute, and sometimes with tambourine. The main caracter of keroncong are the cring and crong voice of 2 ukuleles. And only in keroncong they play cello like a bass guitar (it is plucked). Well, it is believed widely that originally keroncong played by Portuguise sailors who sailed to Nusantara/Indonesia during 1600's (collonial era). But then they played keroncong together with local people. Keroncong was very popular during 1900's. Nowaday, it is not popular anymore as musicians and singers of keroncong is getting older. I think, James of Fivein is trying to revive the keroncong and of course in a modern platform, as we saw in this video.
