I really like Heihachi. Such a family man. Such a great dad, takes his kids and grandkids out to vacations in volcanos and shit. Quarantines his dad in fear he gets COVID. Such a great guy.

JDCR, one of the greatest players in the world, on why he plays Heihachi over the other Mishimas - "He's old. Also Idk lol"
And that's why you should just play who you like; if a character feels right, play them! If JDCR isn't worried about making sure he has the most optimal character for his defensive playstyle, you probably don't have to either.

Yeah, JDCR stands out to me amongst top players because he just plays the characters that he likes. He's not concerned with which characters are favoured by the tournament meta.
Plus he's also my favourite because he's got a mean Raven
@@MrOzzification Ya, people gave JDCR some crap when he played Dragunov, but a character can be both fun AND top-tier (plus, he does this for a living people. I guarantee most of the complainers would pick Leroy in an instant if their livelihood was on the line).
He's just an amazing player with a great personality; I'm never bored when I'm watching a JDCR match.
@@ehsteve231 Dragonuv can be excused. JDCR started maining Drag in Tag2. He said he was inspired by Nobi's Drag and found the character really fun. So it was just good fortune that Drag turned out to be a top tier in T7 because he certainly wasn't top tier in older Tekkens.

Man I remember meeting JDCR at my first evo in 2019 and being so nervous to ask for a picture with him but he was very nice about it! I asked if he was nervous for his next match coming up and he laughed and said no and then me and 30 other people surrounded him and watched him kick some poor man's ass with armor king. 😂😂

Good to hear stories like these. Takes me back to why I always loved Tekken as a fighting game
I think what JDCR said could be interpreted in two ways: on one hand heihachi has better fundamentals (better df1, jab extensions and all that) than other mishimas. On the other hand, he has shit lows and poking tools which means he is kinda forced to play around fundamentals. Nevertheless, it seems obvious why JDCR prefers heihachi over other mishimas.
That's why heihachi worked better on tag 2, since the movement was stronger, his fundamentals were really strong

Actually what I think he is trying to say is that Heihachi offense is safer (he is the more offensive Mishina ofc), so you take less risks while playing him and you can rely in more fundamental things like a solid df1 and many great mids with good frame advantage. Style preference ofc.

Even though I like some of the music from T7, it does feel uninspired compared to the older games. I feel like the old stage + music combos gave each stage a unique feel that I personally don't get with T7.
Next Tekken game needs to have a soundtrack more like T4, TTT1 and Tekken 5. I really hope they make Tekken 8 feel fresh as a game and make it feel brand new presentation wise.
True. I do like some of the tracks from T7 (such as the 1st round theme of the Mishima Building stage, that was beautiful with the violin, as well as Infinite Azure), but other than that 40% of them is just boring dubstep trash with no catchy melody (looking at you G Corp Helipad at Night 2nd round theme, the one that just goes "WOWOWOWOWOWOW"). They're just fucking BORING. Then you look back at Tekken 6's soundtrack and even tho imo it's not really my most favourite OST of the series, I can still appreciate the direction they went with it, granted they were probably going for something a bit more subtle instead of catchy I feel. The soundtrack for that game was composed in a time where dubstep and trap wasn't all the rage. You've got mostly orchestral vocals and violins in the background, but also some contemporary rock, and I can appreciate it for that, even tho they're aren't really as catchy as the older OST's like Tekken 5 or Tekken 2 and 3.

I can definitely see why he prefers Heihachi. It comes down to fundamentals. You’re forced to think more, and the game becomes more of a fast paced chess game compared to the other Mishimas. Which is why I love Armor King. It’s ten times harder to play with him, but the fundamentals are amazing to focus on with Armor King, it’s satisfying and rewarding with Armor King.
Murkcity11207 my friend who I play with is a armor king main at fujin and says he isn’t hard at all to use.

uwuCat I agree with CEO of World Hunger. His moves are easy to learn but he is very hard to master. You have to take into account of what his definition of “easy” is. Easy to learn his movesets? Yea sure. Easy to use him effectively with the limited tool set he has compared to King? Absolutely not.

I agree tekkken 7 characters lack any kind of personality especially the newcomers like katarina, josie, claudio, and gigas. They might be really cool characters but nothing about their appearance or personality is particularly interesting. My biggest gripe is lucky chloe, her character gimmick is that she actually doesnt enjoy being a pop star, but does anything in her intros, end poses, or moveset really reflect that theme?
She is a really giod actor i guess

Katarina and Josie are the worst I think. At least Gigas has a design that stands out from the rest of the cast. Claudio has a minimum of background story and Lucky Chloe as annoying as she can be, she represents something, a style, a cultural theme (jpop). But Josie and Katarina...

I remember when DJ was released in Tekken 5 and there was a video of MDJ playing him in Asia. The arcade went wild when everybody found out Namco gave him back the old lazer cannon juggle.
I'm with JDCR when it comes to Heihachi, I can pick up playing with him over Jin, Kazuya, and Devil Jin because of his attributes. Plus the fact that he's an old man who beats up fighters younger than him in the storyline as well.
I thought i am the only one that like the wayang theme from tag 2, and also I am from indonesia so that maybe a little biased. Great video, thank you JDCR!

qudans as lowkey an absolute madman and i love him for it that said it suckd cause devil jins 50/50 is hella scuffed if youre not close to the wall post season 3 nerf... he has no safe hard hitting mids anymore, let alone mid safe mids that keep the vortex going
2:36 Devil Jin was brought to the game to bring back original Jin. Jin changed so much from TK3 to TK4 that it was an all new character. Devil Jin had all the basic moves from Tekken 3 Jin.
I love the sheep stage in T6(i.e. Hidden Retreat). Maybe I like it because me & my friends used to make jokes about the stage. So you only get it through random select right; whenever I got it by accident during a tournament match or something similar it felt special to me and I got really motivated to win. And a lot of times I did well when I played on the sheep stage.
That's *THE* best stage of *ALL TIME!* All hail T6!

You can't deny that Tekken 6's Electric Fountain theme is still a banger. My personal favorite from Tekken 7 is still Heat Haze Shadow 1 & 2. 👌

Hearing JDCR talk about how he dislikes Tekken 7’s theming and finds the characters new or old less appealing and interesting just reminds me of how low T7’s budget really was.
The aesthetics and the direction all took a nose dive even compared to tag 2 (say what you will about that game or it’s OST but there was an incredible amount of variety and detail in the stages)
They had to cut a lot of corners compared to previous titles and it shows. Here’s hoping T8 will be much better off.
Good points and all true. TT2 had the best variety of stages and they so many small lively details in each one. I go back and play it ever so often and it really shows how much Tekken 7 stages lack. Thankfully I have the PC version which allows mods to spruce up stages and make them feel unique and different at least. I would get bored of the default stages on console at this point.
After the failure of TT2, it's a no brainer. With the spike of sales they got with T7 and the hype surrounding it, I hope that Tekken 8 will be great -- preferably in the style of Tekken 4 but with the gameplay that we all do like right now.
They cut corners because T7's development had a much smaller budget to work with.
Tag2 was (still is) the most expensive Tekken game produced. Biggest roster in Tekken history, tons of special tag throw animations & special outros. 16 characters had models built completely from scratch & some with revamped movesets that had to be updated with bounds and rebalanced.
For a fighting game that large in scope to not meet sales expectations was a huge blow Namco. Tag2 almost killed the franchise
@@MrOzzification tbh I think tekken 6 was. Everyone got endings. They were moving on to the next console so graphics were worked on. Then we had a full campaign mode with its own cutscenes and a shit ton of stages.

Hey, he's my favorite too. Good man. :D I agree with you about the music, Tekken 5 was my absolute favorite because they took dozens of musical styles and blended them into an awesome soundtrack. T7 went too hard with the EDM/Dubsted style, but there are some really good ones in there too...

They did a lot of orchestrated and Grand themes too tho along with some heavy sounding tracks tho. But that's true. A good deal of edm based stuff that also wasn't memorable
I have always gravitated to Heihachi too. I am considering playing him. Just mishimas is another type of Tekken I may not be ready for. lol

Old characters are cool. I mean sure you could get beat up by a guy who does lightning punches, but you could also get beat up by and old man who also does lightning punches and it's way cooler

The reason you'll be different than any other player is that u r not a power hungry and trophy hungry player. You get into the character and then play it. That's something beautiful!

I got in to T7 too late and have been stuck in this weird dilemma where I really want to learn Heihachi but what's the point if he's probably not going to be in the next game? I've only been playing for 6 months too so learning a new character is like a month long ordeal before I start feeling comfortable.

Tell me the fastest command for heihachi' while 4
I like Heihachi because I played him for a long time, since TTT basically. To me, Kazuya felt very incomplete in the old days because he had a limited move list, most of which was shared with Heihachi and original Jin/Devil Jin. I think Heihachi has better pressure and poking than Kazuya, and even today Heihachi has some options, like a parry, that Kazuya is lacking, and I just think it makes Heihachi more interesting to play, and his weaknesses force you to come up with creative solutions. I like Kazuya more than I used to ever since T5, where he began to feel distinctly different from Heihachi. I don't want to play as Devil Jin because I don't want to play a character only because they are top tier, which would be the reason if I was to pick Devil Jin over Heihachi or Kazuya.
I used to play heihachi in tag2 and t6, But when t7 released, im always picking DJ over heih. I dont know why. When i played heihachi in t7 for the first time It felt heavy when im controlling that oldman. Not satisfied playing him in t7. For me heihachi is good in t6 , even better in tag2.
T6 Heihachi is garbage for low attacks, but is very pressure and he new moves is good.
In T7 Heihachi really cool, low attacks counter hit guaranted ff2 and ws 1 good punish, f~n~df+1 is launcher, I like T7 Heihachi, because he is balanced and have normal wall combo :)

I only started playing with Tekken 6, but I think Tekken 5 had some of the best music and was where Tekken really established it's.. 'style'. I don't like how Tekken 7 feels like they have moved away from how Tekken 5 and 6 felt in that way. I think the game has improved in a lot of ways since then, like more simplified grab techs, the combo mechanics. But I wish we could go back to how old stages felt, and what happened to Tekken force?
