The lyric I am a warrior a survivor is about his ancestors who traveled the Pacific ocean to Aotearoa New Zealand, who fought land wars and died for him, and Stan like all modern indigenous people has survived and still battle historical trauma of colonization. This song celebrates the culture and people of his essence ❤
Forgive me if Y’all finally “got it”, but I am 5-6 of Stan Vids in and the last one was Don’t dream it’s over and you were admitting you didn’t know the significance of his stomach cancer and the removal of his stomach. So I will be blunt. In order to have depth of range, great breath control and such vibrato, you must have phenomenal diaphragm breath control, meaning you project the air power from your gut/stomach/diaphragm. When Stan had to have the entire thing removed, he had to learn from scratch how to. Eat, breathe and sing WITH breath control all over again without the organ that usually naturally delivers that. So now Stan does his historical normal delivery from a shallow short chest breath. Something he had to learn. Making him all the more a phenomenal performer ❤❤❤

Thank you for your reaction. Stan is Maori from NZ and is singing in his native language Maori (Te Reo). His vocal range is impeccable and you can feel his passion in every song. If you want to experience more of his amazing voice react to his cover of Ultralight Beam live with the Levites, New Light live with the Levites and a Stan original Inventing Myself live with the Levites, one his more underrated songs but one his best in my opinion.
Stan is Maori from New Zealand , he lived in Australia for part of his childhood. He was born in NZ and is now back living here permanently. We are so proud of him and greatful he represents maori waiata on the world stage
Glad you enjoyed my recommendation, I listen to it a lot when I wake up, If I remember right he's from New Zealand. He kills it in UltraLight beam too.
This is a great rendition but my favorite is the live one in front of an audience is like WOW! Are you aware? Sooo good! ua-cam.com/video/W46rvj0T6N4/v-deo.html
It's sad when people think he from Australia he's from aotearoa (New Zealand) he was bought up in Australia but is of Maori decent and we are so proud of Stan keeping our reo strong
This song broke me down emotionally because I don't know where I come from or any of my heritage, I wish it had been different for my people. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Rangiātea in New Zealand Māori culture and tradition, is considered to be simultaneously a physical place as well as a metaphysical place. Māori are very spiritual people and our customs and traditions are still a part of who we are today. The language once thought to have died out has been made official alongside the English and is now stronger than ever.
We appreciate talent growing up watching the masterminds of music. Your culture needs to be acknowledged for it. 98% of the genre created in the US and everywhere else in the world is a talent You's possess and own. There should be benefits for the creators of making the music industry wealthy. Thank you for acknowledging Stan Walker, what an awesome reaction. I never get sick of hearing his song, and always watching out for new reactions.
Your comment..."He fill up the room Bro", so often on reaction videos that is said. Soo very true, a true Master of his instrument ♥ You get the Feels..arohanui ♥
Great reaction! Also check out his cover of Don't Dream It's Over from this same session. Then check him out keeping old school R&B alive on track 11 Never Be Alone on his most recent album, All In! And get this... Stan had to have his entire stomach removed due to cancer! He is gifted and blessed. ❤
Love to hear and see a reaction at the points of significance, and yet giving appreciation to all aspects involved including the ones behind the mixing desk. A perfect combination of talent right here. As others have responded, he is a Maori and extremely proud humbly so, but with an all-inclusive heart. From the incomparable influence of Lord Jesus Christ this Brother love for all shows throughout his vocal output. Every note is saturated with sincerity, love for God and all His children and extremely blessed with if not the greatest voice on this planet at this time, he is definitely one of the top five in the world. Love your perfect reaction, in par with Travis....👍🎤🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹
Fire that you said you don’t know what he’s saying but you know he’s spitting. Another lady that did a reaction to “don’t dream it’s over” said she could tell the lyrics meant more to him in the colour he gave to the song. She didn’t know what he was saying but she knew he was deep
Stan is Maori - the indigenous people of new zealand and stan has great love and respect for his culture and language and that is what you have been listening to - te reo maori
Maori, is the language. Stan is a Kiwi , New Zealander. But he went and won the Australian Competition. New Zealand is very small. To get exposure most artists try out Australia, if they are good enough. That is why he comes up as Australian.
