One of the better pedestal sink install vids. Very well thought out on the installs. I also was putting no backing as the back of mine is tiled. Wing nuts same as you did. I also plan to caulk the base down and a bit of Caulk on the sink backing and seal the edges. The P trap is why I slowed down. Also as I was changing an old sink, the original builder used way too much silicone to suction this sink and base and was a real pain to get off.
Your video was wonderful in that your referring to Macgyver as way of approaching sink installation was truly inspiring. Not all jobs are the same and one must improvise on some jobs to bring them to completion. Your "toggle bolt" installation was extremely helpful! Thank you for your help!
Great install. Nice and clean. Only thing I would add is that you should never need any kind of dope or sealant on tubular fittings. The key is to make sure there is no tension/stress on them. Do that and they will never leak. And as you said, never over tighten them, and you definitely don't want to put a wrench on them. Always hand tight. Only time I've had new tubular I installed leak following those two rules, is when one of those plastic tubular washers had a crack in it, so I just had to swap that out with a new washer.
Have the same sink. Needed to replace the faucets (did that ourselves) and seal stopper drain. The one you push down. Plumber did that drain job, left, saying do not use for 12 hours til the silicone dries. 12 hrs later it leaks like a seive. Also, they siliconed the pedestal to the base. The pedestal to the floor. The sink to the wall. This sink is $$$$. Is the sink supposed to be siliconed to the pedestal? Never saw that done, it ruins the look and would be overly constrained.
How can the plumber check for leaks if he says don't use it for 12 hours. Lol. It should not leak from the second everything is tight. Call him back and make him install the drain properly.
I have a. Major problem with the leaking caused by the holes on the drain tube that are needed for the overflow channels to drain back into the drain tube. When I turn on water to faucet, water leaks thru the drain holes and onto the floor. I called Kohler customer tech support and was provided video for click type drain, but mine is a push down drain. Help!!!
You might not have a proper drain assembly. You need a drain assembly that has holes in it to release the water from the overflow in the sink. You can email me some pics and I would try my best to help! I hope you can solve the issue.
Try and crank it down a little more. If you can’t crank the bolts down a little more, add some acrylic siliconized caulk around the fixture where it meets the wall. Then you should be gucci
Great video. Thanks for sharing. However, one thing I wanted to point is that the front of the sink is not level. Not because of your work. But, because of the sink itself was not cast correctly. China manufacturing fail. These sinks are known to be warped. You can see the right side is slightly drooping. I have gone through 2 of these same sinks until I got one that was really level. I thought I was just lucky until I saw this one. Same exact droop. The sink should have been sent back and exchanged.
You are correct in pointing that out. The issue is, you can go though so many to get one that's perfect, the client would not be willing to pay me to see if one was good lol. I would have to charge a return trip fee on a chance the next one would have a better cast. I wonder how many have this same slight droop on it.
@@TodayIWorkOn We had the same thing happen when we first installed the Memoir, except it does't look *that* bad. Over time we got used to it. You get used to a lot of Made in China nightmares ;-)
Really, you want me to trust what you are doing to install a pedestal sink. When you admit that you installed the first one with silicone? I subscribed to you to be able to leave a message. I would never listen to what you have to say after those first few words. Don't trust this guy for anything!
Mama Mia!! We got a passionate one here. This comment is much appreciated. It's a pedestal sink, it's not holding up the house. 🤣. It took all of my strength to pull off the small pedestal without the base underneath it. I was actually impressed with myself on how well the adhesion was. Millions of products get held on by tape or silicone. I do really love your passion though. Keep it up. Go though my other videos and light me up some more. 🥰

Thank you. Remodeling is sometimes hard. lol. Pedestal sinks are base line hard to install.
Really appreciate you making this video. Especially when you don’t hit a stud.

Again more good stuff, I’m installing one in my new bath. The plumbing tips helps thanks !

That’s why I use putty on drains.

We are installing ours and the top piece is wiggling. How did you get it secured???

The bolts holes are in the dumbest place. I can’t get my dewalt 45 degree screw tool in the space when the taps are on. Very poor design
How wide is that sink?
20.5”
Awesome work 💪
That sink should have been the original choice, looks way nicer!

Thank you for showing me what NOT to do
Please explain further. I’m always up to learning from pros like you.
