Actually Caruso defended wings pretty efficiently. He could guard 1 to 4. Still ridiculous they chose tht over him, just so they could trade for Beverly, and then for Bamba ...
Tbh thats good defense on THAT player. Doing that to a crafty guard would put him on a highlight reel lol. However, his defense is great to start, and he'll only get better with time!
Lakers defensive rotation against Houston in playoffs when we won Championships was the best I’ve seen. Say what you will but Frank Vogel had that team play elite defense and we got a trophy out of it.
Vando is one of the most important piece in our defense, since the tradeline we've been first spot in DEFRTG, and this dude has been showing he is a hungry dog, he is everywhere in the floor. Salutes from 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Yeah, that 1 one particular play made me realize how intelligent vando is on defensive end. When he rotate just in time inside the paint to cover for lebron' man, Thats was fire
Love the content, brotha. I have a great appreciation for hustle and defense. Nothing but heart by Vanderbilt tonight. You got a new sub in me for uploading these kind of vids 👌
Wow I saw 3 plays where you see this mans IQ 1) When he was out on a pick and roll and Luka tried to slip the pass and he chased the passed and stole it with his left knowing he would reach the ball better that way 1:24 2) When he stole the ball and passed to Beasly behind the back 1:54 3) When he went to chase a shooter of the 3 point line and spun in order to recover 2:12 This guy is perfection in terms of what the Lakers needed. A long wing who can defend multiple positions but not only that, the rebounding and steals and activity of this guys is infectious and amazing If you know basketball and you pride yourself on defense YOU KNOW! This kid is legit
Look at his footwork. He moves like a savvy vet already but only 23. Doesnt commit too much mistakes & uses his body frame well. Havent seen a player that is built for defense since Artest perhaps. Tucker is up there, but Artest was special on defense.
This is why players should play for the big market teams to be highlighted. This man played defence a$$ off in Utah. But no one praised him. But now everyone knows who the hell this is
@@gusionassassin No you didnt haha! Sorry about that. Im just thinking imagine being in a room with someone whose salary jumped 12x - 4 mill/year to 50 mill/year. Must be surreal. Wish him the best. Thanks for checking out this video!!
I know LUKA was pissed 😂😂💀. His pump fakes, drawing the foul on cheesy ass layup lines & jumpers wasn’t working on VANDO. That man stood 10 toes down & stuck with luka FULL COURT right off every inbound & delivered. Easily MVP of this game. This lakers team is getting scary in the west. They going to make the playoffs & when they do, its a wrap.
Bro actually showing CONSISTENT effort on defense, rotating and looking to interrupt passing lanes, sticking like glue to Lukas side drawing fouls off the screen. He’a showing how 75% of the league is playing lazy defense.
Hey I thought they don't play defence in NBA anymore !?!. Well Jarred Vanderbilt ""Does!"" He's a One Man FullPress Defence all by himself that has the abilities to play head up Man to Man on even the Elite type scorers in NBA like Luka and that's not a easy job never seen him totally out of sync the way Vanderbilt had him flabbergasted. It's great to see defence played in NBA cause in true reality Man to Man defence was what epitomized NBA basketball players historically before advent of Zones to stop Shaq and to hide deficiencies in the lack of being able to play head up defence from Superstars to the 12th Man on bench. So it's a delight to see that aspect of the game being played by Jarred Vanderbilt.. looked like Rodman out the at one point .,.
Here after being eliminated by Nuggets, we must keep Vando for the foreseeable future, his defense is crucial, wish we saw him more in game 4 though against Nuggets. If he could develop a bit of a better 3 point shot, that would be great, only reason Ham didn't play him last night probably for spacing reasons.
The refreshing thing about him can be shown with an example. At 3:39, Vanderbilt is playing between kyrie and luka, Westbrook would over play either one of them and it would leave a wide open dunk to #0; on the flip side, Vanderbilt was able to fall back, read whom picked up who, and stop the back door cut from #0. This is how you want your locks to play on 2k lmao 🔥🔥🔥
Championships are won by superstars doing their job ans unexpected heroes stepping up. But this is not a huge surprise, VDV is a fantastic defender, has all the tools
Vanderbilt is like another Dennis Rodman. Rodman was better but they are very similar. In 1989 Rodman off the bench avg 9.4 rebounds, 0.9 blks, 9 points in 27 minutes. Vanderbilt with Minnesota last season averaged 8.4 rebounds, 0.6 blks, 1.3 steals, 7 points in 25.4 minutes. Both were great at position defense and not so much blocking shots and had/have great hustle and run the floor well. Rodman got better than that and Vanderbilt has the potential to get even better.
Vando Definitely outplayed Luka this game, every turnover or missed shot Luka was crying for a call, Jason Kidd even called him out during the interview to “mature”
The MVP of this game was Vanderbilt. Yes, Lebron and AD came up clutch, but without the defense and effort of Vanderbilt, they wouldn't have come back. The Mavs aren't making it out of the West because their defense, especially in the interior sucks.
Thank god somebody with some ball pressure. I swear they let luka play too slow and comfortable with that weak ass pace luka be on play him harder he will fold and look I swear every time I see teams let him shoot that slow ass shot with no ball pressure I get super mad like y’all gon really let him take his time and shoot smh this was refreshing to my eyes
Vanderbilt atm is the modern Rasheed Wallace and will be some NBA players vanderbilt version of defense because his skill defensively is really remarkable. Vanderbilt is always steps ahead of the person matched up to him.. IS HE AN ANDROID he calculates things exactly as it will happen..

I love watching Vanderbilt play defense. Dude is exactly what we needed!
Exactly 💯
All heart!
Lakers been needing a guy like this for years. Caruso was a elite defender too but didn't have Vandos size to guard big wings
Vanderbilt can guard 1-4 ( sometimes 5 with stretch bigs)
I think the last time we have this kind of player was ariza during 08-09
I think all teams would love this guy to be honest
Magnificent performance 🔥

The defensive rotation and hustle by everyone at 3:45 is immaculate, I love textbook defense like this
The size, athleticism, IQ and the hustle
2:11 Do you guys not see how quickly Vandy recovered from that?? This dude's IQ and athleticism is crazy
This move really shocked me, what a unbelivable quick move
he was already expecting him not to shoot...if you pause when he caught the ball you can see why. great defense nonetheless

I remember watching the game thinking that about this play. To be honest I’ve never seen anyone play defense like this FOR AN ENTIRE GAME.
YO HOLY HELL @2:12 I’VE NEVER SEEN such a risky but smooth whip-reaction recovery this man is an ANIMAL
definitely one of the best defender I ever seen
The defensive rotation at 3:42 is the best I’ve seen in 2 years from the lakers. They were legit on a string

3:30 to 3:50 will bring a small tear to your eye as a Laker fan.

he deserve all the praises
Doing it in purple and gold
Lakers just give this man a 10+ year contract just keep him at all cost

He’s similar to tucker in terms of Savviness. He’s a lot bigger and faster. Won’t call him stronger.
Artest defensive intensity was the highest level - thinking particularly the 2010 playoffs.
