Hi Kari! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I have to say that they were quite interesting. I don't know if you know about this or not but my great niece and her five year old little boy was murdered by the boys father in the front yard of my nieces home. When I went to the funeral home, my great niece was sort of lying on her side with her little boy in her arms. I've never seen a deceased child before nor a mother and child together. It was the most heart wrenching thing I've ever seen. I must add that whoever took care of them did an amazing job. They both looked beautiful. She was a beautiful girl. You are amazing to listen to . You are quite a woman!!! God bless you.!
Thank you Kari for sharing from your heart. You are a very caring person. The experience that touched me the most was of the small child running to his dad's casket yelling, daddy, daddy. Glad I was not there it would have been too heart braking.

I have this habit of running your videos in the car when I have a little driving to do, like I did when I saw this video in my feed. When you got to, “Daddy! Daddy! Daddy! I was at a stoplight, which was a good thing. I had to find a napkin or something, because my face instantly started getting wet…. My mom died in July 1990 and the minister that did her service has been the pastor at our church for decades. His normal speaking voice is this deep rich baritone…. They chose him to also do an aunt’s service in 2001. I was alone in the church, looking at my aunt when he came up behind me…. He put his hand on my shoulder and said my name…. I hadn’t heard his voice in 11 years and the very sound of it…. Let’s just say I’m glad it was only the two of us. I had an instant meltdown, bawling like a baby. Edward Bowman, if you’re still out there, don’t say my name. It’s very weird to me how you can be owned by a simple voice or sound that lives in your memory like that. I have some of my mom’s 30+ year old cologne that does exactly the same thing to me. The memories just immediately appear.
I got to see my mom in her casket in private....I arrived earlier than the family and explained I wanted this time to be private and the funeral director honored my request...was glad I had that moment of grief in private as so many were present when Mom died that I didnt feel I had the opportunity to tell her goodbye--we were good friends in additional to the mother/son relationship; that was in 2009---still miss her!
The more I watch you the more I realize how blessed are the people you encounter. You are a bright light in a world many of us know little about. Thank you for sharing and caring. You are indeed an EarthAngel 😇
This was so interesting to hear about, many dramatic and challenging moments you have had during your career. I can only say that people who you worked with were extremely fortunate to have a caring and compassionate person such as you!
Talking about loved ones..I hadn't seen my brother in 9 years but we spoke all the time...then I got the dreaded call that he suddenly passed from a massive heart attack....had to fly back to Chicago and see him for the first time in his casket...I had a nervous breakdown...then 3 weeks to the day later, I lost my father. 2006 was a horrible year.
Thank you for sharing your 20 big moments. In regards to #13, Veteran funeral with no family able to attend. Talk to the USA group call Patriot Guard Riders for a parade with motorcycle riders with flags flying leading the hearse to the gravesite. I was a member on the west coast and it was an honor to be there for the veteran and their families.
Congratulations on 20 years of service & dedication, the funeral directors are "Heroes" in my opinion because they do something very few are willing to do in the hardest moments of people's lives. Thank you Kari for all you do 👍
You have had an amazing (which sounds odd to say perhaps) career, you’ve got amazing empathy which shines through. You have so many precious moments to reflect on
Dear Kari. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, I do believe any family would be so fortunate to have you as their funeral director as you have such compassion and empathy for them. We have just found out my brother in law has stage 4+ cancer and is at the end of life stage. I'm so heartbroken for my sister, as they have been married for 40 and are still very much in love. I truly hope we have someone like you to be there for us when the time comes. God Bless you. ❤
Years ago my daughter had a son that was on life support machines. He passed away at 5 months old. She never held her son at anytime while alive. She requested that she could hold him. The funeral home let her and the babies father hold him after the evening visitation. I’m glad that they allowed her to do that we took pictures. Although with years but still had to be comforting in some way.
Very interesting memories! My husband was in law enforcement. He also had had people turn away from him or start to cry since he’s had to tell people their family member had died tragically and he brings back those memories for them.
You have done great work over UA-cam for the past few years and for the past 20 great work in person I’m sure. Congratulations! Crazy that I’m right behind you being a licensed media technician. 17 years this June.
Dear Kari, Thank you for sharing those touching memories and reflections of 20 years of being of service to others in the funeral profession. You are an inspiration to all of us both inside and outside of the funeral business. I had the good fortunate as a young person to work for several funeral homes during college and then continuing after school for two years as a mortuary student and as an apprentice. My career path changed before I was licensed, but honestly I still miss being in funeral service. I have lived vicariously through your you tube channel and enjoy your open and honest representation of the profession. I probably assisted with over a thousand services during my brief time in funeral service. Even though it’s been over 45 years, I too have such vidid memories of particular services and challenging situations. I learned lessons that prepares me for life. Never to take any moment for granted, and to appreciate every day as a blessing and a gift. I’ve been watching your channel grow and proposed for years. And today’s topic inspired me to finally write and says THANK YOU for educating us, and inspiring us to care for one another regardless of our profession! Bravo Kari!
Follow you here and live in your area. Saw you at a local funeral establishment and you are even cuter in person. Your doing a good job and are even comforting people here too.
When you mentioned seeing the woman in the store who did an about face. It’s funny how certain things can trigger emotions. The funeral home that took care of my son had a certain air freshener in their building. To this day almost eleven years later I cannot stand the smell of that particular air freshener. My grief comes to the surface all over again.
Kari, you have such a captivating storytelling voice! I was subbed to you’re channel years ago when u where first taking off, the videos were a tad blurry but the content was beyond worth it! You are young and beautiful. Congrats on your 20 years. It takes alot to do what you have to do for your job. Thank you for what you do . I wish that we had you in my state of Wisconsin so u could do mine. You are a kind and caring lady for these people.
Your memorable moments are indeed touching and I know I’d have to watch myself if I were in your shoes because I’m an emotional person and I’d definitely get teary eyed at the drop of a hat. It happened at my uncle’s visitation before my Mom and I got there which I’m glad because that’s not a time or place to act that way
Kari, I am twin. Twins are awesome 👌. We weren't supposed to live through our 1st night together & here we are here 54 years later, & Mom didn't know she was having twins!!!
Ok, I've helped bring 16 babies into this world including some of my grandchildren , plus I've been an EMT since 94 so I've saved a lot of lives , now I want to do this work since I've helped with the preparation of some very close loved ones including my mother. I feel like this work would bring me "full circle " ...birth , life , death. Please give me your thoughts on this , I respect you so much it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊
@Charlotte Dancy [SSD] thank you for the kind words 🙏 I feel very blessed that I know a funeral home that told me that I can work at to get started 😀 I really want to help people look their best for their trip to Heaven. Best of luck to you as well.
I did not collapse at my daughter's wake, but the guy she was seeing did. He was lying on the floor sobbing loudly. He had been drinking though. I think people thought I would do that, but I was in shock and calm. I also lost a 20 week baby. Both of my girls were taken care of by the same funeral home. They did put the baby in a small casket and the burial was free.
Interesting the things our minds hold onto 🤔 I bet everyone who watched this video started thinking of something from their past.Every experience we live makes us who we are!! I saw in your face, the reliving of each moment you spoke of!! Makes one wonder?????
Thank you for sharing. You have given me a whole new perspective on end of death. I use to fear it and going to funerals. Now the dynamics of it all really interests me. If I was not 56 I would diffently consider being a mortician. You are such a sweet person with a beautiful soul. Anyone that has a love one that has you as the mortician is very blessed. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and stories.
I'm new to your channel and I'm also coming up on 21 years at my job as a baker! I find your line of work so fascinating, and my daughter is about to graduate high school and is thinking about becoming a mortician! She wants to see if she can handle it first though. It would be a hard, but very rewarding profession! Thank you for all you do and you are very informative and so caring! ❤
You are just so wonderful & so real Kari! You really think so thoughtfully about the deceased. You do everything that you can to make things easier for the ones who are left behind.
I feel badly for you seeing a client in a social setting and realizing that you are not a friend who provided care fir a loved one but a reminder of a painful time.Thank you for telling us that story, if I ever have that happen, I will be mindful of the person who has provided a service. After all, they deserve a social life too.
Wow, what a powerful video. Really enjoyed hearing about your 20 memorable experiences in 20 years of being a funeral director. The one that stood out to me was the one of the young teenager that died after a ball game. I live in Northwest Indiana and heard about it on the Chicago news. He and his family lived in your area of Michigan so it may be the same person. With the way that he died and the coverage on the news, I can see why that would be so memorable to you. Best wishes to you as you continue in your career of helping families through one of the most difficult times in their lives.
I was 4 when my Daddy was killed in a horrible car accident. I’m one of those people who has memories back to my crib. After the service Mother picked me up and walked up to view my Dad one last time. I saw him and almost lept from her arms to reach him. I did grab his jacket screaming the whole time and was finally removed by my Dad’s brother. When I saw them close the lid I flipped again. I told them to get him out of that box. I’ve been told it destroyed some of my family members but a child’s reactions are pure and heartfelt. The next day was Christmas Eve. Then Mom died 2 days before Thanksgiving. I cooked and my husband said I was a zombie. I guess I was cause the only thing I remember is insisting I must have her Lace tablecloth. Our brains protect us when we need it.
Congrats on the 20 years! You've touched so many families, its just amazing to hear how some of these resounded in you. But also 07:48 My GOD... that scared the crap out of me. It was all so quiet and then I heard that.... I thought it was coming from my house until I replayed that. Whew.... feels good to be alive and not have a demon in my home just now.
Congratulations on 20 years!! That's amazing! Can you put a link to the video you mentioned about the pregnant lady you did arrangements for her baby? And the military funeral you mentioned reminded me of an episode of The West Wing, about a homeless veteran that died. So sad that stuff like that happens
So interesting! Some of those moments sound uplifting but some sound like I'd never recover. The vision of that little one running to his daddy hurt MY soul. Hats off to you for staying with it and providing people with such great care, despite any personal feelings that surface!
The people who deal with you are really blessed. You have so much empathy.
Amen!!
I completely agree.
9:31. My mom refused to let me and my sister read my dad’s suicide letter, and I’ve always suspected her of something.

Kari, I am twin. Twins are awesome 👌. We weren't supposed to live through our 1st night together & here we are here 54 years later, & Mom didn't know she was having twins!!!
Wow thank you!
Thanks for sharing! You are such a kind, sweet, caring and very professional person!
Thank you so much!
Happy Anniversary. Thank you for sharing your first 20 year memories.
Thank you!
You are amazing. It must be hard to work with families and not show your emotions. It takes a special person to do your job.
Thank you!
Kari you are amazing. Thank you for sharing everything about your job with such realization and love. You are amazing and lovely🌸
Thank you so much!
You are a blessing to so many families.💕🐇🌷
Thank you!
Oh so sad!
Thank you for sharing a little bit about your last 20 years as a Funeral Director. That was very interesting. I love learning about people's lives.
Thank you!
Interesting the things our minds hold onto 🤔 I bet everyone who watched this video started thinking of something from their past.Every experience we live makes us who we are!! I saw in your face, the reliving of each moment you spoke of!! Makes one wonder?????
Thanks for sharing and congratulations on 20 years.
Thank you!
I hope you are around doing this for another 20!!
Me too!
Congratulations!
Congratulations
Thank you Kari for sharing these stories of your career and life.
You are welcome!
Have her reach out to me if she would like!
you are a very strong and caring person peace
Thank you!!
You are just so wonderful & so real Kari! You really think so thoughtfully about the deceased. You do everything that you can to make things easier for the ones who are left behind.
Thank you!
I feel badly for you seeing a client in a social setting and realizing that you are not a friend who provided care fir a loved one but a reminder of a painful time.Thank you for telling us that story, if I ever have that happen, I will be mindful of the person who has provided a service. After all, they deserve a social life too.
It is a hard lesson!
Thanks so much!
Awesome, Kari!
Thank you!!
So heartbreaking 🥺🌹
Congrats on the 20 years! You've touched so many families, its just amazing to hear how some of these resounded in you.
But also 07:48 My GOD... that scared the crap out of me. It was all so quiet and then I heard that.... I thought it was coming from my house until I replayed that. Whew.... feels good to be alive and not have a demon in my home just now.
Oh no!
Thank you, Kari. you shared such lovely, personal feelings.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing, interesting as always!
My pleasure!
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Hi kari...blessings to the family and congratulations on 20 yrs as a director....keep up the great work👍
So interesting! Some of those moments sound uplifting but some sound like I'd never recover. The vision of that little one running to his daddy hurt MY soul. Hats off to you for staying with it and providing people with such great care, despite any personal feelings that surface!
So true!
Congratulations, on 20 years!!! Thank you for sharing
