    I started framing 5 months ago. I tried finding videos on youtube to learn as much as I could. I'm still watching videos and honestly over the past 5 months this series is the most informative information I have found. This would have saved me and my boss a lot of frustration had I found it sooner.

    Wow, FINALLY a great step by step video from start to finish. As an older handyman / do it yourselfer I can do a lot of things with proper guidance. Great video with details well explained. I have built 2 like that for our annual campsite. One option an old guy taught me was to leave the front and back sheathing 4 inch above the top plates. Then notch them where the roof rafters sit if you are planning for an overhang. No need to add fillers after, hope that makes sense.

    Great video. I've built a couple but like the way you did yours. In case someone hasn't mentioned it yet, one thing to do before lifting a wall is to attach a 2X4 on one end of the wall with a single nail (or screw) about a foot or so from the top. Lay it on the side of the foundation so when the wall is raised the 2X4 will also go up. When the wall is vertical, screw the other end of the 2X4 to the base of the floor/foundation to hold the wall in place.

    • @texasdillo
      @texasdillo 2 роки тому

      Left out that attaching the 2X4 to the top first rather than at the bottom is easier for me.

      @@JessedoesDIY hey Jesse im looking to build a small shed on top of my asphalt and I want to leave space below the shed floor, so snow and rain can filter through. I also don't want the floor to be too high because I have a very heavy car jack and want to store it inside. What do you suggest? Thanks

    • @JessedoesDIY
      @JessedoesDIY  Рік тому

      This exact structure is the same design you'd build if it's on solid ground. The skids underneath the floor prevent moisture build up and create an air gap so it stays dry. As for the jack, I'd build a small ramp for the door personally. I almost did it with mine but it wouldn't fit my landscaping. Good luck on yours

    Great video this is the one of the most detailed shed video's i have seen on youtube.
    The only thing i disagree with is the lack of a need for pressure treated lumber above the ground. When a termite colony is mature enough swarmers come to the surface and fly around looking for places to start a new colony. When these swarmers find a suitable place they mark it . Subterranean termites build mud tubes to the marked area and begin to consume the wood. This is how raised homes still get consumed by termites. It honestly depends on where you live In general i always build first floors from presuretreated materials . Where i am this is such a large practice that pressure treated lumber is cheaper than standard prime studs. Anyone in the termite belt should just use all pressure treated lumber .

    • @JessedoesDIY
      @JessedoesDIY  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks, I appreciate it! In my area we do not have termites, they just don't exist here. This is basically the exact same way we build homes where I'm from, and this is how I did it everyday in the trades it's normal for me. But thanks for sharing your information to all those that do live in the termite belt, I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

    Really good presentation. Thank you. Everything that's necessary delivered in a nice pleasant manner. I have a similar situation with the foundation. I live in New York which has freezing winters but my local regs DO NOT permit permanent foundations so your floating foundation with timbers looks like the way to go for me. Your foundation is very much like Shannon's (House Improvement) who I very much like as well.
