@RegzalTG saying he drops to the midfield is a stretch. He mostly stays forward. He'll fall back to link up if the team is building up deep but he's usually if bot always the highest player
@RegzalTG yes I watched the final. What does that have to do with what I'm saying? As soon as another striker came on, they got a chance because of their movement, which morata lacks.
Seems like he's an elite -fit forward (which will get him into solid scoring positions) but who also is just technically 'OK' in front of goal - which leads to a high miss chances record.
Giroud is one of the best forwards there is and played a crucial role for France, but I will not get over his 14-15 matches long goal draught at Arsenal. I think it was the 15/16 season when all the top clubs were struggling and Leicester City went on to become champion. Giroud's failure to score goals in that season might have cost Arsenal the league title.

Why would you call him wasteful while presenting a stat which shows that his goals are above xG? As long as Morata has more goals than expected Goals (which he had for the last 4 years) calling him wasteful means also calling at least half of the forwards wasteful.
True, but if Morata is acting like a poacher and getting into the penalty box more, then he should be performing way better than what xG says. He should have a better conversation rate is what I'm saying.
I think the main point is being missed here. Back in 2015 he did incredible showings in the cl against top tier oppositions (made Hummels look average who was one of the best around). Back then you could see things that you don't see in other strikers: He had speed, agility, heading, technique, could strike and shield the ball, run at defenders and an eye for dangerous positions. Yet his consistency and finishing wasn't quite there. The bet of many clubs was that if he gets his finishing right and shows his talent more consistent than he could be the best number 9 on the planet. Sadly this never happened
