I’m getting 70+ miles keeping the bike in PAS2 and going about 20mph. The bike feels like a normal e bike with medium assist and pulls about 350 watts. The huge motor is particularly efficient running at lower wattages. But with a turn of the throttle it instantly goes from bike mode to Tesla.
Great video, I got the Wired Crusier I'm almost 71 so i desided to with the step through. I also would like to see the brake adjust video you mentioned. Have a great day my friend, Glenn from NH.
i have the same bike, weigh 275 and just got 55 miles in pedal assist 2, 1, and sometimes 3 up small hills with a restrained amount of manual throttle occasionally. I still had 30% battery remaining (15% of that still usable if you leave yourself another 15% as a safety charge). Note to do this you must change setting C12 from 4 to 3 which will permit you to run the battery down to the lowest, safest minimum value of 51 volts which should give you 65 - 70 miles of range under those same conditions yet still preserve a 15% cushion of power remaining to keep the battery safe (*never* fully drain this lithium-ion battery to 0% or 48 volts or you'll render it permanently unusable!). Keep an eye on your display, when you hit 51 volts...STOP, cool, recharge.
I call BS!! I HAVE THE AUGUST DELIVERY MODEL AND RIDING IN PEDAL ASSIST 1 PEDALING THE WHOLE WAY CAN'T HIT 36 MILES AND THE BATTERY IS DONE. THIS IS WITH THE SAMSUNG BATTERY. NOT REALLY IMPREST!!
You should definitely called Wired and see what is wrong because that is not right. I get 70+ miles in PAS2. Make sure you have the bike programmed for the Samsung battery as the meter will not be accurate otherwise.
@@breminnie Wired failed to properly program the August delivery batch for the Freedom's with the new Samsung battery. They sent an email on how to correct it but perhaps you didn't see it. Anyway, the Samsung batteries require setting P5 to be set to 8 instead of 16. That should fix the problems but otherwise they are a phone call away to help (and have been positively responsive in my experience!). Good luck!
@@breminnie Have you changed your P5 parameter from 16 to 8 to get accurate battery on the display? Until I did that, the display showed 0 bars when the battery button showed 2/4. Before I changed the parameter, the last time I went for distance I got about 36 miles before the battery went to 0, but since the battery button still showed half, I continued for 5 additional miles, with the last two miles on cruise control at 20mph. At the end the button still showed 2/4. I have not done a long distance since I have fixed the parameter. This was on a relatively flat paved bike path (Silver Comet) with a good bit of pedaling on PAS 1 and 2, and a few miles of PAS 3 and throttle.
@gutturf I think this may by my issue. I charge my battery to Full overnight and it only shows 3 bars. I go like 16 miles with a mix of P1-3 and its almost dead. Just changed setting glom 16 to 8. See if it makes a difference.
Received mine about two weeks ago. The bike is a beast. Thank for you content. Heard you say about street tires. I’ve been shopping for some myself. What tire are you considering at the moment. Would greatly appreciate your insight
I have the most recent version of the Wired Cruiser that has the new rack. I too spotted your concern about the lack of support vertically at the rear of the rack. However I can tell you that in hand in person the thing is solid, I wouldn’t put a rider or more than 50lbs on there but it’s plenty sturdy feeling. I’ll have the current version Freedom in Oct and can verify if that new rack feels just as sturdy. Oh I also noticed the new rack has hook points for a bungee in either side like my Magicycle Cruiser does, when not running a rear bag that’s a nice option.
Start by cleaning your rotors with brake cleaner and a lint free micro fiber cloth. Double check your calipers are centered/tight. If those simple things don’t help you can look into a quieter brake pad material. Most mid tier 2 piston brakes squeak a bit though.
You also need to bed in the brakes when the pads are new and the rotors are clean to avoid squeaking. Misaligned calipers are a common cause of squeaking as noted above. Doesn’t really effect performance but it is certainly annoying.
For existing orders of Wired Ebikes that are slated for Oct, Nov, Dec deliveries, these customers will be receiving the much improved 2024 Wired Freedom and Wired Cruiser model. These are some of the improvements on both models: Shorter more durable Metal Front & Rear Fenders, Improved Pedaling gear ratios for much less ghost-pedaling, a safer battery port to help prevent arcing when connecting battery onto ebike, a longer and sturdier rear rack, kenda tires, usb charging port built into display, new motor windings for a bit more speed, an RST Guide Adjustable Front Suspension Fork, and more space between rear tire and the controller. Specific to the 2024 Wired Freedom model, the 2024 Freedom will now come with an adjustable 4-link Rear Suspension. The best part is that these improvements have all been made to the 2024 Wired Ebikes, but WIRED decided to still keep the price still under $2K. Wow! 👌 I gotta get me one pronto!
Thanks so much for the video! I have the August Wired Freedom with the Samsung battery and I started to do a range test but, like an idiot, I plugged it in before I finished (cause I didn't do it all in 1 day and then I forgot). I was last at 30.3 miles and 60.7 volts and I plugged it in. I'm going to finish charging it and take it out again today and start the test over. I'm a 170lb rider though and mine was a combination of throttle only and pedaling. Yours is a good throttle-only read-world test. And for me, your test is useful because it is what I'd get on rides where I'm trying to get somewhere and I'm not just joy riding. I'd do throttle only the whole way.
Well we get a good bit of snow where I live but in the summer time I do run Slick's going to be careful for those white stripes and then hole covers going around the corners I just ordered the philodo out today and I plan on putting on a slick on the front and leave the stock tire for the back so when I do go off-road trail type stuff I got some bite
I put them near the max. I use the Beach Bum brand 26x3 tires and I cut apart and used an old one as a liner on the rear. I've only had flats on the rear in 2 years of riding my FreeSky SwiftHorse.
I have added a second battery to the rear rack with a y splitter and a battery blender. I am good for hot riding 60+ miles now. As good as the wired Freedom is as an ebike, it lacks battery capacity for serious long-range riders.
That’s dope. You have a vid of the install? I want this bike as my first e-bike but concerned on lack of service centers. A spare battery you speak sounds great
Great review. Came to watch this video. But I see you do some other stuff as well. Crazy to think you got 30k views but only 660 subs. Just want you to know I subd and look forward to watching your other content as well. Take care.

I have an August Cruiser. I had similar issues to you. Back rack was bent to shit. I just added some spacers to get it lifted up enough to where it wasn't forcing the fender into the tire. The fender supports are also bent all to shit. The brakes are a mess. Tektro E350'sall seem contaminated from the factory. Ive yet to see a pair of these brakes with no squeaks. I have 2 bikes with them on there and both squeak even after several adjustments and cleaning with brakleen. I my other brand bikes dont have this issue.
I have an August delivery Freedom and have literally none of these issues. New rack (new geometry with this production build) is perfect, no squeaks or issues with brakes, and no bent or fender clearance issues. Did you have shipping damage of some sort?!?!
I made a video for range at 225lbs and show and talk about the odometer abs motor temp, if you're interested.......ua-cam.com/video/Y7uhSTklLt0/v-deo.html
Does anyone know how much weight the rack can hold? I'd like to know it's maximum but I really want one regardless. I know its a good value from lots of reviews I've watched.
there is a setting on the display that you need to set. reach out to wired. they will also set you up with a new unbent rack so you can stop bitching about it.
WRT Customizing bikes, it's like anything else. Manufactures build these things to appeal to the widest group, or a large special interest group, of people. Everybody is different. Regardless of what you buy, there'll be something you don't like or want to personalize. Buying a stock model that one can upgrade/modify to the "perfect" bike is best, IMO.
That's what I was wondering. I just made a range test video and mentioned the voltage and motor temp and many different intervals throughout the video. Check it out, if you're interested....ua-cam.com/video/Y7uhSTklLt0/v-deo.html
The real question how long it will take for a maximum battery capacity to drop to 50% of original value. In a lot of my ebike battery capacity drops to unusable level in 2 years.
If you constantly charge your battery to a 100% that is going to shorten the capacity and longevity I only charge to a 100% every once in a while when I need the range if not my regular charges are to 80% capacity
Charging to 80% and discharging to 25% will get you about 4x the cycles, charging to 90% gives you about 2.5x cycles. This is how Tesla manages its fleet and also how satellite batteries are partitioned.
It's easy if you set up the menu correctly, it just has so much power. I have quite a few videos about it, including my most recent range test, if you're interested.......ua-cam.com/video/Y7uhSTklLt0/v-deo.html

Yes! I did 70 miles mostly PAS1 and still had 55v left...You get more mileage the lighter you are.
PAS 2 seems like a good spot where it feels natural. At pas 3 the power can be a bit jarring at times and you really notice it at slower cadences .
No
