The one in the left will charm you. The one in the middle will threaten you. The last one will punch you. The most iconic bard trio there is, no doubt.
@@CIA-M the setting of the song is clearly the 30y war which easily can fall under the term of the medieval ages. Sure the land was heavy urbanised and the first black powder weapons appear in northern Europe but the people still where fighting manly with pole weapons, wearing plate and mail armour.
@@derstoffausdemderjoghurtis I would not say the 30 years war is considered medieval. I would consider it even near the barok period. Even in the napoleonic era the French had elite cavalry with helmets and cuirasses. Do you consider them also medieval? Or the Romans, they had also a lot of different types of armor. I wouldn't call them medieval myself.
@@CIA-M The armor argument was just supposed to explain why people without knowledge about that time period do think that the 30y war was in the middle ages. It just still hast a lot of medieval traits. The curassiers were the exception in their time period and a very specialised shocktroup. Roman armour is very dissimilar to curassiers as well as medieval armor. Most of the time they carried maile (fabricated in a different style to most medieval maile) or something less. The roman plate armor was organised in overlapping stripes of plate heavily specialised for the usage together with their big tower-like shields(scutum). Very different to medieval maile also. By the 30y war period plate armor gets less rare so more normal soldiers could afford it after some looting. This plate was still nearly identical to high middle age plate armour of a wealthy man at arms. The usage of helmets was still very common (unlike during napoleon era) and maile was also still carried a lot. Even knights got some between their legs and in their armpits.
I’ve loved this song for years and this is by far my favorite version. I can’t seem to find the additional stanza that you added to the song in any other versions. I think it’s an awesome addition.
