I have read a couple of her books in the past. I agree, she usually is a fast listen and the decisions the characters make.... but to try to figure it all out and the last couple of pages are: What? Wait? Really? sometimes I like tose types of books. I will grab this one and read it. :) Thanks for the review, after I read it I will come and start your review at 2:20... :)
It does say the Hudson babysat his 1 year old brother a lot. So they are implying that Eve assumed a situation, but there is no way she didn’t know he was the quarterback of the football team! My other issue with the book is, the prologue has her burying Nathaniel in the woods ALONE! In the end they are burying him together… so did she go back and dig him up later and move him? When the cops her Addies story wouldn’t they have also dispatched a unit to the pumpkin patch to find her body at the same time they were picking up Nathaniel and then stumbled across Eve and Jay playing vigilante? There just seems to be some messy pieces that maybe were supposed to get cleaned up in editing and were missed. But I still enjoyed it.
Good point! I just assumed at the end that Eve must have known he was the quarterback, she just conveniently didn't point that out in her narrative for some reason. Not very air-tight either way. Still, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was ridiculous but still enjoyed watching it play out. :)
Good writing but the twist in the end is what annoyed me. How can Hudson be Jay when he is in high school and Jay is supposed to be married with a child. The author did not elaborate Hudson’s age at all. All I was thinking is Hudson is the same age like Addie and Jay is in his late 20’s or early 30’s, damn!
Agreed. There was some narrative trickery going on there. But did she actually say in the book that Jay was married or that he had a child, or did the author just hint at it? I can't remember any concrete evidence of wife/child.
Yes there’s this part where Jay was with Eve and he had a phone call from his wife and while he is talking to her Eve overheard a crying baby in the background and Hudson has to go home.
@@GS-nz5mk But did the book specifically say that it was his wife, or could it have been his mother? Did the book specifically say it was his baby or could it have been a younger sibling? I can't tell if the author is just letting the reader make assumptions

Haha, let me know what you think!
Guys- Eve recommended Addie a list of cheap peer math tutors. One of the students on Eve’s list is Hudson.
Good point!
Not planning to read it, but fun to hear your thoughts on the genre.
Happy to help!
