- I had a Drake 2C dropped off for repair. The main filter cap was leaking around the base. Normally I use shop stock caps for the job, however the underside is very tight and the base of the main filter cap has a smaller than normal diameter. I knew finding an exact replacement would be difficult. So, I did an internet search. First hit was Hayseed Hamfest. Nice website, easy to navigate. I purchased the full recap kit. So, besides the main filter can there were a handful of axials. All capacitors were name brand with date codes. I was pleased to see that. As you all know, I am not a fan of the unbranded overseas caps. Hayseed doesnt fool around. Kits and service are top quality. I highly recommend them for your radio maintenance needs. I've used the Hayseed Hamfest a few times to recap "boat anchors", always come through with quality products...
Never had a Drake, love the Wire they used to lash the components together. I've seen it before in military radar equipment great. What a difference in troubleshooting when you can easily identify the wire and its color code
Props to Hayseed Hamfest for their custom filter caps for my vintage tube audio amps. Better than original, and the shiny steel cans look so nice!
No worrie warts, No dandelion smokers, No Humbuckers, only Hayseed operators... 😂❤
Wow. That's great.
Thanks for taking the time to post this.
I have had great luck with the Hayseed Hamfest kits, starting with my Hallicrafters S-40B. I also have a Drake 2-C Receiver. It works well. I'm on the fence about recapping it.

Thanks! Terry
Nice looking chassis, is it copper plate or copper plated? Dear ol' granpa had an older Zenith tv that felt like its chassis was solid copper plates. It was a lot of fun lugging it down from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor when he moved.
Oh now, let's just "reform" that old capacitor, like everyone does. It will short between the paper and foil and kinda works again!
Thanks for the tip about Hayseed caps!
