I've done this myself in the past. Mineral base silicone, thin it down, brush 2 or 3 coats. As long as the foam isn't cracked, it's a quick way to revive the speaker. If the paper is faded from sunlight... spaying a thin coat of flat black will improve the look without affecting sound.
I'm not sure which of the many tire care products to use ? But apart from that it was a very well throughout repair with lots of information . I stupidly painted a pair of 10 in paper cones with CRC Clear Urethane Seal Coat . Bad buzzing loss of base and ruined . But my brain had another frat, try mineral turps which didn't soften the problem foam but it got sucked up a lot . STEAM CLEANER , held just about touching and before your very eyes watch the foam ring expand ! In half an hour they sound better . Steam mop or to iron clothes steamer is all , try it on old ones first but it's hard to make a mistake you can believe me !
The only risk that I see it to wet the speaker cone too much, until it deforms. I would test that exact marker on something else and see how "wet" it gets.
I have seen where there is something you can add to the spider that will soften it up a restore it to its original movement , im not sure what the product is . Im thinking simply speaker retails it.

Great! Glad to hear that other people are saving speakers 👍🏻

Thanks for this info!
Based on your experience, is really safe to use marker pen that use water based liked POSCA to refresh the speaker cone..?

I have something like that, but it's impossible ro fully restore old rubber like this, sadly.
Try a product called shoe goo. I've used it on speakers W/great success.
That would work for fixing tears and rips, but not for resealing the cloth like I did it here.
@@UltimateDIY try rubber cement (bike patch glue) and one ply toilet paper. It worked for Me. It is also cheap.
Would also work, but the product that I used is special for speakers, so it will never harden even after many many years of use.
gummi pflege
Che Fatch Hello from USA im trying to find a mineral based liquid
Hope you manage to find one.
Use gummi pflege...... It's the best ... No silicone
Tried it, did not work. It can't revive rubber that has gone past a certain point.
Hai salut!
Salut!
