Another thing about water is it will spill out and evaporate easier if it's not in a container.
Water signs need structure in order to address that otherwise they'll have problems with psychic energy and spread themselves too thin and take on other peoples' pain too much or feel put upon or project outwards, and this can reflect the Queen of Cups tarot card.
All water signs have problems with boundaries for this reason. I had a Pisces roommate who would just not stop playing guitar, literally any time he was home.
He was always so escapist. I had a Cancer sign best friend for like 8 years. A Cancer sign on the dark side will eternally hold onto past hurts and not let go and develop eating disorders as a result since they rule the stomach. They're the only sign ruled by the moon and the moon impacts water levels in the tides, so I'm not surprised they're more moody.
Cancer signs will show in their face that they were hurt but they won't bring it up, they'll just look at your all pouty.
They'll pout and go comatose and just crawl in their shell.
Scorpio's never pass an opportunity to let you know when you've crossed them, unless of course there's a better (possibly more vengeful opportunity) down the line, tying into that strategizing you mentioned.
I think when the water sign is settled it can reflect the person who's looking at it, just like in a still pond you can see your reflection in it.
We're all connected and we all reflect each other but a lot of people talk to other fake people and don't see themselves while they're doing that because the emotional impact they're having on those fake people is not reflected back at them because the the fake people won't show their emotions, so you end up having no idea what you're dealing with.
Scorpios keep their cards close to their chest, and they have a great poker face, almost impossible to read sometimes, but it's not fake. They just don't want to drown you with stuff you don't have the energy to deal with. Their "obsession" is just laser-like focus. Sometimes that's needed, other times it's aggravating. But the good ones will use that focus to read you like an x-ray and guage how strong you are. They make good psychologists and detectives. If they channel the focus properly and learn to let go from time to time, they can move mountains. On the dark side, Scorpios are not fans of weak people. They don't even like asking for help. They see it as a sign of failure. Fiercly independent, like you said, being alone for as long as it takes.
On the dark side Scorpios can drown you in their emotions, on the light side they can refresh you with their realness. In Tarot, that's why the cups are water signs. Drinking from a nice glass of water is really refreshing.
Since Scorpios know so much they often have a superiority complex and think they're the most important thing around. They can be condescending sometimes if they haven't maintained healthy boundaries.
Oh I almost forgot, since Scorpios are such a sponge for other peoples' psychic energy, etc, they're probably the sign that most needs to do regular energy work and grounding. I honestly don't know how any Scorpios live without that. If not actual Reiki-type stuff then just sitting by a lake or river works wonders. Funny thing, the only Scorpio roommate I had so far, was the only one who seemed to be more messy with water (around the washroom etc) or spilling snow on the ground inside the kitchen. I addressed this, but before that, it was like any time I went into the washroom it almost looked like he took a cup of water and just freakin threw it on the faucet and counter. I know that didn't happen, but it was almost like that.
Correction... I meant the reversed Queen of Cups, not upright, although for those who only do the upright I suppose you could put it in that category if you want. I forgot to mention the Queen of Cups herself is literally sitting near water and facing water and appears to derive much relief from that.
But how to build those boundaries?

I’m blown away at the depth of your knowledge on scorpios. I’ve never even met a therapist who has me this pin pointed! I’ve studied numerology and symbols of many and never have heard anything like this regarding the number 8. Would love to learn about the number 7 as I’m a double libra and Scorpio moon. So crazy bc with this full moon I just released ( a nice way of saying I cut the MF chords and it wasn’t pretty) my family (including parents) bc they have been totally absent in my children’s life. I’ve tried to learn and grow and forgive but they continued to put us on the back burner and favor other siblings and their children. Cutting the chord with two small babies is scary yet I feel strong in my heart to let them go. Thank you for the validation that we must do this to transform and attract new relationships 🧡

I needed this vídeo. I've just had an exchange of ideas with a taurus friend and she was like "I will teach you my notes about how traumas are not healthy for children, you can't normalize traumas". I was like: "Everything in life is about traumas, because traumas makes us what we are. We learn from our traumas, we improve as persons and we can't blame parents for everything, they love you in the way they know to love, even if it's not the same way you love. To live always the same, without any pain is the most cruel way to be in coma. I enjoy pain". And then again, "You can't enjoy it, children must grow up in healthy environment, if parents yell at them always, they will be submissive people". Then I told her not every child is the same, so it's impossible to know if a child will be a submissive one or not. However, even when I like that exchange of ideas, it made me feel kinda unconfortable the fact that she felt as if she had to "teach me" about theories for raising children. I told her if she could make me feel her point without using theories, I would really pay attention to her akdkkdkdk. It was even funny xD I felt kinda... out of place. Something to consider is the mythology of Pluto, in the above and below flux. Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, the nature goddess, became committed to returning to the underworld every year for several months. That corresponds with the winter season where all of the energy goes down and inwards where Demeter mourns the temporary loss of her daughter. Some seeds need to have the winter freeze activate them. Its called stratification and it cracks the tough outer shell and makes the seed permeable to water.
