That's a normal four wheeling trip for us in Australia it what makes it fun and give you a great story to talk about afterwards
We used to do this almost every weekend at 29 Palms. No fancy jeeps or broncos but my trusty Tacoma and dirt bikes. Fun times
I know a whole crew of folks out there still doing it.
It’s a lifestyle
I’m glad you have that watch, Evan. I hope your friend’s family has his.
I have an old Elgin pocket watch from either the late 1700’s or the early 1800’s. It was bought by my great grandpa who was a farmer in Maine. (Ancestors on that side came over on the freaking Mayflower) Having that watch back then was a big deal for a farmer, because only the hardworking could afford such a luxury as to know what time it was at any moment as long as the watch was wound up.
He lost the watch while plowing his fields one fall, and couldn’t find it. Winter came and snowed over, and he ended up finding the watch in the spring after the snow thawed, and it still worked.
He passed it down to my grandpa, who I never met. He carried it with him while serving in the pacific theatre in the army during WWII. His toddler son (before my dad was born) died back home in Massachusetts during the winter due to lack of proper nutrition and lack of heat, so he was given a hardship discharge and sent home.
My grandpa passed the watch to my cousin Dave, who was the first born grandchild in the family. Dave was somewhere around 35 years older than me, and I only met him maybe twice in my younger life.
Dave ended up doing pretty well for himself later in life, and apparently had a timepiece collection, and the family pocket watch was the centerpiece.
Dave wrote me an unexpected letter in august 2018, and explained the story of the locket watch. I hadn’t heard from Dave in well over a decade, as we lived in different corners of the country. He told me that he wasn’t quite done with the watch yet, but he wanted to let me know that it would one day be mine.
It took me a couple months to write him back and send the letter, but I did. I told him how important the story of that watch is, and that I didn’t quite understand why I would be the next to receive it (he had close nephews), but that if I got it it wouldn’t be going anywhere.
I sent the letter, and was curious what type of response I was going to get.
A few months later, his wife who he provided as luxurious lifestyle for both her and her 3 teen kids, as well as cars and college funds for them, cheated on him. She did nothing to provide and support, Dave did everything. And she cheated.
Dave removed some of his valuables from his own house, drove across a nearby state line to stay with a friend, and a few days later he put a hole in his head in his car. Gone. 55 years old.
I got the watch in the mail sometime after his brother and nephew went across the country to settle his affairs.
The watch still works during our Texas warm months when the heat makes the lubricants inside a little thinner, which triggers the watch to work. It doesn’t work during the winter when the lubricants inside thicken up.
I have a friend who’s a former SEAL, and his 7 year old daughter was enamored with the old watch, and would shake it like crazy to listen to it tick when I used to go to church with them. It never worked quite the same after that, but that doesn’t matter. Made me and her dad smile seeing her mess with it, while knowing the history behind it.
I keep that watch with me everywhere I go, unless I’m exercising. It’s special.
A history of my ancestors on my dad’s side in my pocket. Makes me wonder in what cool ways I can add to the history.
Cool and strategic change seems necessary for the continuation of special historical legacy.
Love it it's like having a bucket list you have to first start with the bucket. ❤
Great conversation that y'all allowed us in on. Great to hear good friends having a blast, despite some setbacks. Hopefully you 4 can get together and talk about the whole event. Cheers!
You can definitely tell that y'all are good friends.I enjoy both your podcasts.God bless you guys
I'm in tears listening to you guys... "You never know when you're going to need a bucket" ... This sounds just like me and my friends sitting around the fire busting balls.
An hour on breaking down and not losing your mind. I’m proud of you and so is everyone else
I just bought myself a bucket. I knew something had been missing from my life.
That really shows the difference of being around strong people, is the bad situations, that end up being blessings, you all seem like great friends as I guess the cherry on top
I just started listening to your podcast and others in the BRC circle. I appreciate the message. As a veteran a decade or so before you. I assumed that once all is done we put in a closet and don't look back. It's always there just hanging out. I've learned over the past couple years to embrace that part of my life. Something your podcast and similar podcasts have maybe not explicitly said but it's there. embrace the suck. it's comforting.
I was with CAL FIRE for almost 12 years, a lot of people think we were just wildland, but we are an ALL RISK department (meaning we do the same thing as municipal departments )so that's weeks or months out on hillsides humping up and down fighting wildland fires, sleeping in the dirt, or back at the station running medicals, day and night, technical rescue, structure, fires, traffic, collisions, high and low angle rescue, swift water teams, etc. etc.… One of the things I love the most about listening to you knuckle draggers shoot the shit is exactly this stuff. Talking about a handy while doing what most people would consider dangerous calculated shit is 100% par for the course for guys like us!I love you boys and to be honest half the time I listen to this shit just so I can hear the banter that I miss so very much! Stay safe gents!
And Mike, leave us bucket lovers alone for God sakes, fuck!
💯🇺🇸🫡‼️
The footage of that wheeling trip would be great to show everyone and what to be prepared for on the trails.
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO the sub tone of the bucket is hysterical… subtly irritating both of them 🤣🤣
The whole bucket situation from around 16 min to 18 min murdered me. I’ve not laughed that hard in a while. Probably because of how serious Mike appears to be. His sarcasm is almost unreadable, the setup was good and his ability to drag that out for a minute and half was just awesome.
👏 thanks for the laugh and as usual this was a great listen gents
New found respect for the meaning of bucket list, thank you.
Glad Rory n Trailmater could pull out Andy’s bronco. Great job guys!
Would love to see overlanding content from you guys. Sounds like you guys had an adventure in the purest sense.
Inspiring conversation !! Thank you Both !🇺🇸💪🏻
I met Mike when he and I prevented Goldfinger from taking over Fort Knox. Cool guy.
Those are the fun times that make stories that last forever. Wish I could have been there.
Evan, I use buckets all the time. Not fancy Yeti buckets, but buckets come in handy. Good video Brochochos! You Dudes crack Me up.
Enjoy podcast, all you guy's share the same value system! I would like to see you guys with Andy and Tim on the same podcast!! Stay Strong and Be Safe !!
Ok quit giving each other handies and show some of that bad ass content!
..handjobs..?
Evan is way too impressed they were able to change a tire themselves. 😂
Great podcast! This conversation taught me and reminded me of somethings I have to apply in my everyday life.
Good advice guys
Even with the bucket fiasco, the five of you were able to semi conquer a trail with barely $200,000 worth of vehicle. It’s pretty amazing.
Nice to have $200K to throw at a weekend trip
@@dontbugme7362work harder and you can also get there. Also, you dont need the 200k to spend quality time with your friends and have wonderful experiences
lol I have a Tacoma it’s not 200k
Still if you work at it, the rewards can be nice ..
@@dontbugme7362that’s what hard work gets you buddy 👍
@@dontbugme7362 it also comes with experience doesnt take $200k to build a capable rig but if you have experience and know how to manuver/drive a vehicle, it can be done with most 4x4s
Enjoyed the watch talk & the story/meaning behind it!
This podcast is definitly a bucket list item
Where's Andy? Still waiting to be recued? 😅
He posted a vid, stating once he established a recovery for his vehicle, he flew back to spend Thanksgiving with his family. Happy wife......
Went home had something scheduled.
Hes with Tim. Tim has held Andy for years. But now Andy gets to run his hands through Tim’s flowing lox of love in the bush, alone and free
Sneaking through the woods listening to this on an ear bud, I had to kneel down when mike started talking about the “handy conversation” to stop laughing my ass off and probably scaring away every damn deer in the county!😂
Looking forward to a podcast with all you guys??
I'm glad you men share so much with all of us. It's definitely fun to watch and learn.
Maybe a picture of Andy's bronco ends up on the wall of the coffee shop.
Keep doing epic shit!!
Mike "Whats in theeee buckeettttt" Glover
Love that Socrates 3 filter test, Evan.
The “BRCC Bucket Podcast” better god-damn be coming soon!
'Tis better to be a Warrior in a rock-garden, than to know that you own a 'Connex-level' bucket, and not load it out... Facts !
I understand not wanting to have the trip for the sake of content. But wish you guys filmed it. Some of us can't go on trips like that so we watch people who can!Hopefully the bronco was recovered.
We need go pro footage of this next time
"If we could have left behind your bucket, we would have been in a better situation"😂
We need a Bucket After Action Debrief !
Time to spend some of that new chest rig money and fix Andy-condas Seal Mobile
@trailmater you go get these guy's rigs out?
We need more bucket talk 😂
What brand of bucket do you edc
What's in the bucket!! 😂
Can we get a field craft edc/Black rifle bucket in the future
@mike I need to see this "BUCKET" you speak of so highly, sir🧐.....
I heard Tim was spotted trying to “flying squirrel” his way out of Utah with Andy on his back.
Never can get enough of these guys. Automatic watch
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.
I’m telling you right now that bucket threw the balance off on the Jeep ergo vis-à-vis causing the blowout.
Can we get a commemorative BRCC branded bucket in honor of this excursion?
Bucket Evan? Could that be from years of fishing on riverbanks when you were a kid and you could bring all your stuff in a bucket turn it upside down and sit next to the river and be comfortable?
Is the Bronco transmission pan polymer?
lol mineral canyon you need 40s and lockers. 🤣
Gonna need a “bucket dump” we all wanna know more about the “bucket” 😂 WHATS IN THE FKN BUCKET
Random stuff you really don’t need 😂
Now I know what Evan looked like during an BDA/AAR! :D I have seen that face on so many guys but, have yet to see it on Evan.
Dude get a 92-99 jeep xj 4.0. Put maybe $1500 lift / suspension into it and decent 33s tires and send it. Mine is at 290k miles and runs like a champion. Heat. Ac. Mpgs suck but is smiles per mile. Best over land rig for me and my budget personally. Parts are cheap and every where
Evan and his bucket, The details are really not important here, ok😂
He had a list in the bucket 🪣 my guess
Anybody that goes off roading a lot would have easily gotten out of this situation. Most is just common sense. Nothing to do with military training
Now, overland without all that back up
If it had a lift an tires, than it’s not a stock Bronco.
Wife wanted a jeep. Its on 37s with armor 😂
Its almost paid off. Immediately taking it to America's most wanted 4x4 in Michigan for a helephant swap. Shes guna shit a brick hahahahahhahahah
so the takeaway is: not bringing "The (make-a-wish) kid" Bryan Callen was a sound decision and not followed by another thought. bucket-ballast Bryan. we love him though
Multiple CEO's and nobody had to have their way? DC needs you guys, unfortunately...
HEY MIKE! Lay off the bucket ok?!?! Some of us have a bucket thing ok?! 🙄🙄
😂💯🇺🇸🫡
What happened to the stache
Wow
but have you seen mikes bowcase
Could only listen half way thru. A little too much self pud tugging.
i bet Andy was Mad. He dont seem like the kinda of guy that would know how to drive.
So wait you goofballs got your balls in a pinch due to inexperience and over confidence in a demanding environment and survived easily........wow glad my government dollars worked out! Isnt this what you guys were trained for?😂 loved it. Gonna get me a bucket! Never thought of a bucket ti carry things. Seriously loved the content
So my take, thank goodness Evan brought the bucket. Y'all would have been screwed.
Blame the bucket
Algorithm buster
At 22:50 thru 25:50. Ah men.
#USA
69, we crush it😂
❤️👍🏻🥃🇺🇸
Bahahaha what are friends for
I wish tulsi was commander and chief. She is the perfect person to take the helm. Biden be like, my soups cold.
“69 it 😏”
Lmao, you guys gotta stop with the technical talk. Outside of the jumps, people do that moab offroad ventures regularly. The official crawler cources are the only areas not frequented! Funny as shit to listen to though.
This did not age well for Mike and his wife. rip
🎉✋🏻-_-🌈
The bucket will live on as the most legendary piece of equipment ever. EDC Home Depot bucket as a contingency.
16:20 mike doesnt like buckets
Why do I have a suspicion that the Andy & Tim broke bronco mountain scenario was actually something that took place?
You all saved Andy's life because if you watch crash tests for these new Broncos they crumple like cheap beer cans and have zero survivability rate if hit by semi-truck from behind.
Being around people who can take care of themselves and help others without being egotistical about it is a good thing to have in life.
Wow
21:33 thats going to be a whole chapter in Tims next book!
