Searched for Jim Laffoon online. Glad I found this video. Also got reminded to read the Multiplication Challenge.

Hi all, Sorry but Jim didn't actually use a biblical verse to back up anything he said. He did use one verse out of context to suit his eisegeses. If he was hearing God he would have actually been told "Hey Jim, that is not what that verse means". If you want to hear God, read your Bible. If you want to hear extra non biblical voices, practice your man made mysticism in another religion.

He has “prophesied” over me 3 times in my life, none of which have ever come true. Let that sink in…

According to Scripture, we can find/hear the voice of God in Scripture. What he just said is so vague. The text he quoted from John 10 and 1 Kings 19 are all out of context. I doubt that he can handle Scripture properly.
Oh, and by the way...At least he has his Bible in front of him as a prop.

Yes he definitely took some scripture out of context. He also didn't even mention reading scripture or prayer when it comes to hearing God's voice.

He quoted John 10 exactly in context. Also, The apostle Paul and even Jesus often used scripture in ways that we would consider “out of context”.

@@Jesuslovesnatasha No, he didn't use John 10 in context. In John 10:6 it clearly says that it is a figure of speech. So you can't use this to say "See, Jesus is going to speak to me directly." But the real question here is where do we find that voice? Answer: The Scripture.
We would only consider Paul and Jesus' use of Scripture as out of context when you want the text to fit your own understanding rather than the original intent of the Author. Looking for meaning in Scripture beyond its historical content and authorial intent is wrong. Interpretation of Scripture is not what you want the text to mean. This is critical.
