Yes, earlier everyone used to criticize the selectors for continously selecting him as he wasn't really performing well but there was something about him. He made his debut for the Indian team in 2007. But until 2013 he was in and out of the team and really wasn't being selected for his performances but was in the squad cause everyone knew that there is somethig special about this guy and we must be patient with him. And then came the Champions Trophy match against South Africa in 2013 in which he opened the innings for the first time in international cricket and the rest as they say is history.
