@@lwmson Perhaps that was so. In a few years that wasn't the case. Some of the Blaxploitation films were as good or better than anything else being shown at the time.
Bravo! What a great movie and well portrayed by these extremely talented actors. Thanks for sharing this movie with the viewers. Rest in eternal peace to those who are no longer with us! 👏💗
Thank you so much for posting this. Really good film. It reminded me of something my mother said. She grew up in the Jim Crow south of the 40's and 50's. She said in White Plains, GA young girls would come up pregnant, have snow white babies, and nobody asked any questions. The social commentary of this film was 💯.
Excellent reminder. I noticed the comments are mostly about how handsome or dignified the star of the movie is. But, many seem to ignore the plot and the plight surrounding the women characters in the film😎
That is a real relevant historical comment and the 40/50s are not long ago. During the whole movie I was thinking to myself, the victim's anxiety and that of all her loved ones, how the question of pregnancy would have been a whole seperate tragic issue in real life.
My first time watching Ossie Davis was, in all places, Rod Serling's Night Gallery opposite Roddy McDowell in the episode The Cemetery. If you are a fan of Mr. Davis, this is a must-see. He always brings it. RIP Mr. Davis and Ruby Dee.
One day I went to the train station in New Rochelle NY on my way to Harlem NYC and lo and behold, sitting right there in the train station was RUBY DEE. IT WAS A GREAT DAY
My boy was pushing a 62 Imperial, Purple pinkish. We were cruising in Manhattan and seen Nipsey Russell and I said Nipsey and he was happy to see someone knew it was him. He was a gifted man.
I was a big time TV-Head I used to watch up until 2010, it's ashame _mostly_ all the Black movies\TV shows posted on ReelBlack, Riverbends, ManFocused & other similar UA-cam channels either was shown one time or never played on TV\Movie Theaters. I saw lots of re-runs of the same shit for years never knowing previously about much of these films I see on these UA-cam channels. HellyWeird ALWAYS shelving good Black movies & TV shows. Never saw these as re-runs. Thanks REELBLACK.
🗣🎤I had the pleasure of meeting the Ossie Davis & the Paul Robeson, jr. Both gentlemen were companions of my then boss William Greaves & his wife Louise. William Greaves (affectionately called Bill) disallowed his few employees to make a big deal of his office guests. Somehow or another one day or the other Mr Davis gave us his autograph. Fond memories 💞
This was actually a pilot for a potential ABC TV series. However, ABC execs wouldn't accept it and it was obviously because they felt that the American TV viewing audience wasn't ready to accept a black man starring in a dramatic TV series, especially with a white man like Harve in a subordinate role to his. Shame though, because it appears on the basis of this movie that it still could have been a hit. Ozzie Davis and Ruby Dee were indeed magnificent actors.
Another Golden Oldie from Reelblack. "Outrage!" is still my favorite as a "must watch" for all the fans, supporters and especially - any opposition factions ?
What and awesome movie. Haven't seen this in many years. Thanks for the upload and bringing me back to what I have been missing. Hey reelblack quick question. Do you have a movie called Divas you can upload. It came out in 95. I been trying to find it for years but I haven't had very much luck. I would really appreciate it if you could. Thanks in advance.
Son: *Receives tough love. But, but dad...that white boy sexually assaulted my girl! Dad: Oh, yeah? Well, the girl I go home to is “legally” MY woman. The weapon I carry is “legally” MY gun. The men I kill are “legally” expired. Now, I could’ve knocked your MFin’ head off for attempted murder, “legally.” But, I taught yo ass a valuable lesson instead. Son: *saunters off still thinking with his shoe size.
Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee lived in Westchester, NY, New Rochelle in Rochelle Heights off of North #BlackExcellencePersonified #OssieNRubyEqualClassGoals #NewRochelle
Do you have the full movie "The Mack", or the full music score of Willie Hutch on that Movie? his musical lyrics exposed sinister exploits , and a good message, in my opinion. I can not remember the over-all theme/message of the movie. The score might have some value for today's young people
Amazing how most comments are not about the elephant in the room. The cover up for the snake in the grass . This happen frequently in the south. Still happens across the country. Elephant 🐘 landscape.
@36:33 that's the studio playboy that rejected Don Vito Corleone's offer from his consigliere Tom Hagin(Robert Duvall) and the crime family killed his prize horse.
This still happens in poor system 😢. Sheriff can't even treat all the same because of boss and takes out on his on kid. One reason for black on black crime increases. 🙏💙🙏🏽
If someone hears a woman fighting off a rapist & does NOTHING... maybe they need a few smacks...great seeing the Davises but the script was full of holes.
When you have to figure out a good explanation to tell white people, after they ask you who discovered America, due to Mansa Musa being Muslim, because you RESEMBLE the people pushing his narrative and many of them are stupid af🙂
This was a film on the ABC Movie Of The Week which aired on March 30th, 1971.
This was a pilot film for a proposed series which did not sell.
@Jannet I so agree with you they just don't just as most musicians don't have the same talent etc..there's thing's to improve voice instruments etc
@Jannet .
@Jannet They probably just felt that the American viewing audience wasn't ready to accept a TV series starring a black man and woman.

This works have been a great series. It's too bad the networks never picked it up.
Brenda Sykes reminds me of Angela Bassett. Both have timeless beauty! Thanks for the share.

There are Talented Actors in This Movie 🍿🎥 as well. Ross Martin, Edward Binns , Lynda Day George, Moses Gunn and Kaz Garas THANK YOU REELBLACK.
Whoever created this channel is a Godsend.
Thank you! 🙏🙏

Ossie Davis is one of the most UNDERRATED ACTORS of all time! He was a Hero and may he rest in peace!

I Remember Watching this Movie 🍿🎥 from the ABC'S Movie of the Week. Years Ago. Good Movie 🍿🎥. Mr Davis, Great 😃👍 Actor along with his Wife Ruby Dee.
He use to be a customer when I worked for The Bank Of New York in New Rochelle ....He was very tall and very nice....He was a great actor...
Also thanks for all the content
I remember this movie when I was in the 8th grade and I enjoyed watching all the actor in the movie the majority of them are deceased

Amazing, thank you.
Ozzie!! Ruby!!! Lovely couple I love them in movies together!!!
Great movie with Ossie Davis
I remember this!!
Brilliant film! Pity it didn't make a series but probably wouldn't have improved on the basic premise. Thanks for sharing.
Men like Mr. Davis are rare these days.
Perhaps, but the prestige, dignity is still there, just a lot more "characters" to weed out.
Great movie!

They don't make them like this anymore. Too bad for us.
Kyle Johnson is nichelle Nicolas' son. He's 70,his birthday is September.
He's done an admirably loving job of trying to protect his mother as she descends into dementia.
“We’ll see about that, Pa.”-casually walks away because it was his girl that got sexually assaulted🙂

Talk about blaming the victim!😡
